A quick update on KOG aka “my little buddy” before I hit the hay 💤 I might do one last gloss coat on it after finishing tonight’s final brush painting. I have never been so nervous to paint tiny, tiny details. I didn’t use any of the color correcting decals. I wanted to paint the few color details including this tiny white outline on shoulder “eye” designs. I was stressing but got it done. Not too shabby. My thoughts and feels on this new Volks 1:144 scale KOG Delta Beren is outstanding! It was a treat from Start to finish and can’t wait to do the larger 1:100 scale once I find that Gaia paint. Here’s a few photos taken at the bench. I’ll grab better pics tomorrow with some natural light hoping the gold has more sizzle if that’s a thing. Lol

That’s super generous of you. I will keep that in mind if this doesn’t shake out locally. Also, congrats on the new kit. I’m not familiar with that one, will make sure and look it up. 👍

I'm still trying to determine what the use scenario for AR is. Industrial Design & CAD. Content consumption. Medical conceptualization. That's about all I can see for AR goggles. Those things are just too big, distracting, and silly to wear outside of building/controlled setting. - Today

So Samsung just unveiled their rival to the Apple Vision Pro, the Galaxy XR. On the plus side, it's lighter than the Vision Pro, costs like half, and the Android XR OS is getting some praise for its usability and compatible with regular non-XR Android apps. But on the minus side, it's still like triple the price of a Meta Quest 3, and I'm struggling to see the actual market is for XR yet. While the Quest 3 can do some XR stuff, the main draw there still seems to be VR gaming. -

Yeah. I think I'm good with my non-Xbox Ally X for awhile yet. -
per Heppoko's tweet: https://twitter.com/simsim5479/status/1980865962858647722 DX Fire-Valk instructions-manual pdf (colored) now up and available: https://tamashiiweb.com/images/item/item_0000015361_4C6Kwya3_300.pdf so you can dissect it the usual MWF way... --- edit/update: sample page-snap: errr. Bandai still seems to luv making their DX Macross valks look derpy in their instructions-manuals...

I haven't touched a Mezco in years but I might actually pre-order that Casey.

Well, when I worked for Aoshima, the Macross license was open, meaning if you pay for it then it gives you the ability to do anything Macross-related, including Macross II, Flashback, and other minor stuff. That was in 2015 when that open license was revealed, and I was at the All-Japan show working for Aoshima's booth when that was announced. In recent years, I've just wondered if the villains at Harmony Gold may try to do something about that and perhaps companies might be selective regarding their projects.

Oh, undeniably. I'm sure there's some OTM shenanigans that make the wing surface a more effective radiator than it would otherwise be, but the main way to dispose of the coolant that has absorbed heat from internal components is much more straightforward. It's also propellant, so they can just get rid of it by shooting it out of the main engines or verniers as the Valkyrie maneuvers. (Thermoelectric converters are also used in the VF's power systems, so maybe that plays a role too.) Probably just a smaller shield like the VF-19F/S's vs. the larger one on the YF-19/VF-19A/C. By this generation, the shield itself almost seems redundant given that they're working with the second generation of pinpoint barrier technology.

Nah, Kylo Ren/Ben Solo wasn't even a real Sith. He was basically Palpatine's unpaid intern. He ain't just gonna walk off death itself like everyone's favorite evil space wizard.- 421 replies

By mecha convention, it's kind of a goofy shield, but IMO it passes for a buckler

Honestly, it's probably more about the licensing, like so many other things currently driving the franchise. They seem to be prioritizing designs they can freely sell to anyone, rather than just the local fanbase. Or from a different angle, they might not be able to get the licenses to make those specific characters. We haven't seen anything from the other pre-Frontier series either, I think. I still want an actual Sheryl valk though.

There was a novel telling a history about Palpatine having a some clones around the galaxy and how siths "survived" by passing their essence into other living beings or even objects. Sadly Disney ditched all of that. At less they could have a explanation on the Palpatines return on the ROS and the history wouldn't have ended being a huge meme.

For what it's worth, I saw Kaneda-san at the All-Japan Model Hobby Show and once again implored him to produce either a Misa or Minmay riding on a VF-1 VFG kit. He said he's not keen on that since there's so much TOS Macross stuff being made already by other companies, but personally I think the real reason is that he'd rather do that weird furry stuff instead. I don't get it. I'd think a TOS VFG kit would be a top-seller, but he does what he wants to do.

Apparently the previous artist (whom I like a lot better) has been replaced by Mercy Rabbit, who has an unbridled passion for the color purple, inexplicably. I do not know what's up with that, nor have I ever heard of Mercy Rabbit before seeing this artwork at the trade show. "Hey, this Valkyrie is orange and beige, but somehow I'm gonna make it look purple and if you don't like it then you're a kaka-poopoo head so shut up." Yeah, I like the other artist better. YW. Bandai allowed photos, but not videos. A Kotobukiya rep requested that I not video either, at least not where their FAG stuff was. I guess their girl kits are such a hot item that they don't want people lingering around in their booth making videos. However, Kino Kousaka was allowed to do so. Then again, they make models based on 3D scans of her and she's a celebrity in the Japanese modeling community. I didn't see her at the show and she was probably finished recording before I even arrived. Her channel has plenty of good coverage of the event, if you don't mind her using the word "kawaii" to describe pretty much EVERYTHING. Don't get me wrong; I like her and her videos, but it gets annoying how Japanese women over-use the word "cute" to describe everything. I'm glad my wife is not like that, but my daughter falls into that trap a little. It seems like everyone is getting into the FAG phenomenon these days. (Hey, that's Kotobukiya's acronym, not mine!) Of course it started with their Frame Arms Girls, then their Megami Device series, Bandai has their 30 Minutes Sisters (their Gun Gal didn't seem to be successful), Aoshima has the VFG series or whatever it's called, Doyusha is importing some Chinese competition for such kits, and now even Hasegawa is joining that scene. There are modeling magazines dedicated to such kits now. On the days open to the general public, Bandai's booth gets swamped with people and that must be why they had such a huge, relatively empty tradeshow booth. They just want people to take pictures and move on, instead of recording themselves talking about the kits. To bring this back on topic though, I'm just glad that Hasegawa are not strict about media.
