Maybe. I based my view on my circle of friends and family that watched it, and with most of them not really Anime and Manga fans, the big eyes was a disconnection with the character. Was also for me. Really interpret well in live action.

General 1/18 Scale Figure and Toy Thread
Big s replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I’d totally buy that whole set at that price. I’d probably only be able to get one fighter though. I did hear they’re trying for some lighting gimmicks. -
I’d totally buy SH figuarts over these, but it ain’t happening. Still waiting on that Breetai they teased ages ago………

They definitely benefit from the theater experience. The home viewing is very bland at best. These movies are visually cool in 3D on the big screen, but they’re not much better than Saturday morning cartoons as far as writing and story. I don’t think that was a big issue. Most people just didn’t give the movie a chance. Most of the viewers actually really enjoyed the film. Even the reviews weren’t bad for it, just the audience was non existent. Not enough people interested in the franchise and not a lot of people interested in a non kids cg looking movie. It also kinda lacked the hype that Avatar has despite being far better than Avatar for the most part.

IMO one of the knocks of Alita were the large eyes. It disconnected a fair share of the audiance.

I think a new thread for non-Lego bricks makes the most sense. I think a large contingent of Lego fans just aren't going to care about other brands.

I loved the Alita movie, but it also apparently barely broke even, or potentially had losses up to 50 million. Avatar movies make well over a billion dollars and it's his passion project series, I'd love to see another Alita, but I'm not holding my breath.

Hahaha. I stay up late after I get the kiddo to bed so I can find some free time. I have to act fast if I want to get any building done. Been doing too many late nights lately. Running on 5 hours of sleep on consecutive days catches up to me at work. Not getting any younger over here. Wow! Getting closer. It’s so nice to see these two side by side. Once that primer and paint goes down! Can’t wait.

Before I post something, are third party bricks like Cobi or MegaBlok allowed in this thread or should I start a new thread?

Alita was always a side amusement for him, but Avatar is all him along his love for visual effects and the bare natural world.
