Finally got to actually watch it since it went on max or whatever it’s called. Not really great and not really bad, definitely better than the Snyder movie, but not as good as Superman Returns. Oddly I think returns is not a great movie either, but is still the best of the new millennium of Superman movies. This particular movie has that feeling of a tv show that someone recommended to you after the first season ended and your trying to figure out all the stuff you missed before in the previous season. Nothing is really unexplained or difficult to figure out, just that it feels like you missed everything that really made it good and now you’re jumping into a rushed story for a show that just got canceled. Maybe skipping his overdone origin was a huge mistake. Definitely skipping lex’s origin was a massive mistake. We just end up with a guy that wants to kill Superman for something or something whatever. Nothing really feels important because all the really important stuff already happened and now we’re just in a resolution for an entire film. The jokes were a bit heavy, but I just feel like lack of plot was the biggest problem here. Lex also seemed to be very inefficient with his thinking. He has to have bot monkeys when he easily could’ve just set up simple chat gpt bots. And his employees didn’t seem like they were evil enough to sign on for this kind of project. Also everyone has to have their hatred of Superman explained and most just don’t even seem to even hate him. Like there really was no motivation here. I’ve also grown really tired of nanobot machines creating complex mechanics out of nothing. That’s something that had grown boring over a decade ago in movies. I don’t even know why she hated Superman and I don’t even remember her name because she was totally forgettable. Maybe one day a great Superman movie will come along, but I guess we’ll just have to wait for another reboot in a decade or so. So far the best one was the first one with Christopher Reeve.

There may have been a specific way in which these were acted but it might be difficult to say for sure. Most MIB examples have items individually wrapped while others have the twin antenna together with shield wrapped separately or some don’t have wrapping at all. Same for the Strike Valkyries. Aside from that the baggies they used were pretty inconsistent in feel, size, mil, and form of sealing. Would be an interesting note for sure. one person who has a very fine set of examples would be @Agent-GHQ. Hopefully his are still undisturbed.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu - May 22, 2026

The target audience for the show itself was pretty young. Personally, I’m gonna wait on this. I didn’t care too much about the last season, hopefully Mando won’t be in constant need of rescue. I just figured that Disney can’t hire a writing team to do a full season of much these days and usually they’re just desperately trying to stretch out movie length plots to fit a season.- 67 replies

Hasegawa loves to milk a mold. The majority of the parts are the same, just a few new ones, mostly lower legs, lower arms, face, antennae and cowl. I personally was hoping they’d go the extra mile and do the more detailed version, but the more I thought about it, the more I expected the re use of molds.it’s definitely a great example of the lower picture as far as surface, but I still would’ve liked them to do the extra stuff, but to be fair, that wasn’t in the show or the og line art

Wasn't the point of spending flipping great wodges of cash on the Disney+ Star Wars originals to give the Disney+ Star Wars originals movie-quality visuals? IMO, the trailer looks fine visually. It's just unmistakably a trailer for a kids movie. (Well, that and unmistakably an unnecessary coda to The Mandalorian's story full of Filoni-isms.)- 67 replies

Good to see some love for the ol' 262. I've got one of mine set up at work along with a 3Zero VF-1J. In battroid mode, I hate having the wings all up in the air like it's about to go gliding, but it looks a heck of a lot better down low like sortuva mechanical cape... and the big gun sticking up there seems very Macross imho.

Probably cuz this movie was , essentially, Season 4, condensed. Targeting younger audiences is fine. I can't expect them to push Andor-targeted audience out every time.- 67 replies

No documentation but I would guess the heat shield would be in the battroid tray since it was included with the 1A and that only had the one tray.
-
Another dumb question...has there ever been documentation on just how the 1/55 series was 'packed' from the factory? Example-the Elintseeker...where was the heat shield place when new? Or the little antenna extensions on he fast packs? Where they in baggies? Loose? Everything else is documented on these things, I was just curious on where things actually came out 'stock' from the factory. Not just this example, but the 1/55 line in general. Sort of like if you were judging a car restoration where things need to be in their place lol

Sorry to say but that doesn't look very good. This is supposed to be a movie for the big screen. Why does all the production value look like it straight from Disney Plus? Movies are meant to be cinematic in appearance. This isn't that. Half the trailer is baby Yoda doing cute things. This tells me the target audience for this movie is really young. Why spend money at the theater for the whole family on what looks like a normal episode of the show?- 67 replies

It looks ok, although I'm not crazy about the plainness or lack of paint apps to replicate the toy's sticker details. And yeah, the cassettes have some notable flaws. I'm feeling the opposite the more I compare the two. I like SS86's proportions, with his meatier arms and overall bulk, as well as the lack of superfluous arm kibble that unfortunately bled over from the terrible Siege Soundwave to his Netflix version. However, I don't care for his thinner feet or their visible hinges; they look better on the Netflix figure, IMHO. Too, as I mentioned above, toon-slavish plainness is not my preferred look; I want details on my robot toys, especially when they're retailing for $60. Finally, they just can't seem to make very good cassettes at this smaller scale. I wish they'd never moved away from the OG real micro-cassette scale, as then they'd have more real estate to work with and they'd all be compatible across CHUG and MP toys. For my money, the OG cassettes, flatness notwithstanding, just did a better job of realizing both cassette and bot modes than these smaller scaled ones. At least the animal modes were better captured. KFC proved, too, with his latest Ramhorn and Steeljaw cassetttes that more realistic, non-flat animal modes that actually look like the animals they're supposed to be is possible. Kudos, too, to FansToys for their Ravage, which IMHO, Ravage being my favorite of the cassette minions, is the best executed version of him in the OG scale right after the one that came with Universe Hound and then the OG. The best Ravage overall goes to MMC, but of course, he's upscaled to a regular cassette which gave them a lot more real estate to work with.- 17671 replies

@GMKThanks for sharing. I see the same construction as the earlier versions. Unfortunately all appendages have seams bisecting them. The alignment was good on the DYRL version. Clean up was no big deal with a little puttyl. Looks like the same on this.

When Mr. K mentioned no air-conditioning in the earlier tweet above, I guess it's not the only AC he's referring to.
