$54 + $49 +$6 damn that's insane.

I never shipped my HLJ DX Fire Valk, so trying to do it now with FedEx is.. eh. I'm waiting on several other insanely late shipments that HLJ just cannot seem to get in stock, so I'm not in any rush at all here. Duties are working out to 20% on the nose, but the handling fee is tiny at least. Not sure what the current rate is supposed to be, I haven't kept up with it.

I thought they fixed that? I haven't shipped from them in a while but I remember someone saying it was down... If not to 15 maybe 20? Hopefully someone can chime in.

Don't forget that if you live in the US you'll be paying an extra 30% if you order from HLJ. I haven't preordered anything from them when it became clear they're charging well above the tariff rate for Japan. I wish I could cancel my existing POs and PW items from them, which is probably why they changed their cancelation policy not too long ago to be much more draconian.

Sorry for the off topic, but if anyone does find a way to access Arcadia's website from outside Japan, please lemme know. I've tried two major VPN providers, proxying through a vps I have IN Japan, and even location spoofing from my phone. Haven't had ANY success

Making progress on the GALACTICA. I initially was going to use fiber-optic lighting but found it to be a real hassle and not effectively lighting the flight pods like I wanted. So, I managed to find this miniature (model railroad) LED lighting strips and they are amazing. Getting all the wiring & lighting where I want it is coming along nicely, lots of detail work to do inside the light pods and exterior of course. The inside is kind of messy, but I'll have that all cleaned up before I seal it up. So far, the biggest issue is finding spare BSG guns/cannons for this kit. I know there are some Photo-etch kits out there, but my big stubby fingers have a hard time with those. Maybe somewhere out there are resin or 3D printed guns available. Sorry for the massive pics.

Love the stock build. The paint is beautiful, but don’t care for the cannon plopped on the shoulder. Feels out of place. -

I can't imagine someone watching this and not enjoying it. Assuming they don't dislike the genre in general. -
Arcadia's website have been region-blocked since last year or so. You may need to use a vpn or something to get to it. Alternatively, maybe one of our japan-based members can proxy for you to at least download the form or give you more info about it since they can access the Arcadia-site just fine. Good luck!

Officer Shenzi of the Al Shahal Interspace Commerce Commission has had it up to here with freighter captains that think impound law and unpaid import fees are negotiating points. She's thinking of a nice bottle of whiskey and how many hours away it still is, meanwhile her assistant is learning of lot of new Zentradi words that she's never heard spoken in a business setting before and first mate Vera is just over it already. Finally got some time to push these models into the game space and put some better textures on things. It's not much (this group right now just kind of wobbles and waves their arms at each other when you walk past), but exciting for me as it's the first step towards having this giant diorama of mine turn into a 'living' space. Still a long way to go (code, why does it have to be code?), and a million nuances of Unity still to learn, but you celebrate the small wins, right? Also a pic without the people to get a rendered view of the background. Also, credit where credit is due, none of the characters are my creations, these are all assets from other games (Night Archive and Solo Leveling, mostly), just using them as fast track for learning and they seemed to fit the setting. Hopefully more to come soon (cranes lifting containers into the freighter and workroids are on the to do list)!

Solidworks definitely takes some getting used to, especially if you're used to more 'artistic' programs like Blender or 3DMax, etc. (or vice versa), but once you get the hang of it, it goes pretty quick and typically gives good results. I like it a lot better than Inventor, anyway. Good luck, looking forward to following the progress!
