Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
Seto Kaiba replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
Not a lot of blood in that scene though, all things considered. That probably owes a bit to the fact that most of the violence is inflicted with laser weapons. Most sci-fi tends to go with the idea that laser weapons cauterize the wounds they make because lasers inflict damage by burning the target rather than piercing it with kinetic energy, though this is not entirely realistic... - Today

Yeah, the paint is really what sold me on picking up this one. I just hope Bandai gets a color that vibrant.. you know.. if they ever get around to it.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
sketchley replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
I think the dimensions of the Glaug Kai/Stealth Glaug from Digital Mission VF-X should be taken with a grain of salt. That said, the "stealth" pods being produced by the Zentrādi on Planet Elysium shouldn't be counted, as they are a rather unique case. If memory serves, the "stealth" pods were all unique creations both designed by and produced locally by those Zentrādi in manufacturing plants on the surface of Planet Elysium. I can't remember if those manufacturing plants were destroyed in the course of the game missions or when the buried Zentrādi Mobile Fortress launched. Even if they weren't, and the Unified Forces seized the manufacturing equipment, as the planet is "in the Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy on the edge of the galaxy", it's doubtful that someone would bother mass-producing the "stealth" pods to be transported to Earth on decade-long transport runs*. * This says more about how fast and loose the game creators were playing with continuity than anything else. I much appreciate that the creators of VF-X2 paid more attention to continuity, and set all the game's missions within a more realistic in-universe travel time to Earth it's also rather telling, from the creators' perspective, that the only mecha newly-created for Digital Mission VF-X that reappeared elsewhere is the Pheyos Valkyrie... It's most likely a one person vehicle piloted by giants. The lineart indicates that the cockpit is the domed structure on the top with the sensor eye at the front. As it shares a lot of design similarities with the "Zentrādi APC" that appeared in the SS/PS1 Macross Do You Remember Love?, it isn't too much of a stretch to say that the Gjagravan-Vy uses the same chassis, and that they could be similar in size. -
I agree. These smaller 1:144 scale Volks kits have plenty of nice detail. They really pop once you hit it with a panel wash. That pearly semi transparent plastic is really nice. I wish it was slightly more transparent so the frame colors would show a little more but I’m still loving it. Ethereal is a great description and I hope I do it justice. I just need to stick the landing. Fingers crossed. 😊

Love the group shot! Looks like a very vibrant red.

I'm no jenius, but I've got plenty of pics and feedback to share... ...if anyone's interested, that is. 😉

Look at all that beautiful detail. The pearlescent white makes the building appear ethereal. Wow. -

Macross delta Novel Volume 2 Translation.

Plot-wise, I feel like this chapter lands flat the same way that its TV and Movie equivalents did. -

Thanks. Awesome models and displays. Odd though, how that Zentradi command ship was mounted upside down. You'd think the Japanese would get that right, considering Macross is required viewing in all levels of education. -

Maingear also reporting RAM shortages and they're trying to hold pricing but they are also heading toward price increases by January. CyberPowerPC cites 500% RAM surge as MAINGEAR warns of deeper memory shortages RAM and SSD chip manufacturers are not ramping up production because they've been burned too much of late with those massive spikes in production only then to see rapid decrease in demand. If this AI boom is in a bubble, hardware makers do not want to be caught in that bubble if or when it does burst. TLDR; If you're gonna buy, buy now. -

Mine is still sitting in HLJ PW until the tariff situation is settled, but you jerks posting all these great pics made me go pick up another one so I can actually handle it myself. Thank goodness for Yahoo auctions!

Always great to see pics of the Ghost, esp. with the whole crew . It's been a while since I last rewatched Rebels. The lego one I bought my kids over a decade ago has sadly been all but forgotten. Still waiting for the day Rebels figs with toon acurate faces come out... hopefully after those SHF Clone Wars figs 🤞

A transformable super valkyrie, as sturdy and simple as the original one but with a lot of smd leds, details, hatches and decals.
-
Would really like to see that happen. Are you considering a transformable or static Battroid version?

This is totally on my workbench. Please ignore the Nanobanana watermark 😜

I guess, was struggling to think of anything the people from this show have done in the last decade other than commercials

Fantastic work, as always! Did you paint the landing gear too?
