@ThomYeah it’s wild how much detail it has. I’m really excited to see what I can do with it. (= Late night, but I just finished up removing all the gates from the pieces and test fit was pretty good. One side of a double hose piece that goes in the right forearm was having a hard time reaching a connection point. I think I’ll be able to remove some material, tweak it a bit and it should have a little more space to bridge the small gap. Or at least that’s the plan. Most everything is just blue tacked together right now and I’ll start to pin tomorrow if I have time. I’m nervous to start drilling into this. Some of the pieces are very thin/small. Never done this process but nothing to it but to do it I guess.

Ok third post of this! Hopefully it's in the correct thread this time? 🤔 Transformation guide for the Bandai VF-19 by our helpful guide @jenius 😉

Dang! Sorry not really familiar with the series! and it was the first thread that didn't say Yamato in it! 🫢
-
Thank you but that belongs in the Hi-Metal R thread. I'll probably be moving on to DX VF-19Kai material in a few weeks.

Toyrise is merely an imprint of TakaraTomy. They've been manufacturing transformable toys for nearly 50 years, and control a large segment of the Asian toy market. They can well afford to experiment with unorthodox designs. 😋

I doubt Japanese law allows multiple companies to produce the same products, at the same scale, from the same IP. Otherwise, it would probably happen a lot more. 😉

Don’t forget that Kotobukiya Hannibal at 1/72 as their only humanoid entry. Then there’s all the random vehicles at all kinds of scales I think their track record is pretty bad with the franchise, this may be just a one off, or there may be a variant. But I wouldn’t keep your hopes up. But at least it’ll keep the trash bag buddy some company

Looks pretty cool, but kinda weird they went with 1/48. They usually do something more like a smaller scale for RG kits to be closer to hg size. I think the mg ones were 1/35 if I’m not mistaken and the kit they did for the live action trash bag joint kit was 1/48 and I think their old kits were 1/72, but my memory is a little fuzzy on these. Looks like they’re doing the hard plastic joints on this one rather than trash bags. Overall I think it looks better than the render for the actual upcoming show or movie or whatever. I think that one made the legs look too straight and dull, while this kinda gets the roundness back

Nice, 1/48 is a good scale for Patlabor that I can get behind and the RG kit looks like a fun build.

oooh new Bandai RG 1/48 Ingram plus It looks great. We're practically neighbors, I could swing by :). It's looking absolutely glorious.

Maybe when you finish this one, you wrap it up and send it off to @jenius for one of his toy reviews! It would be great seeing this in HD video going through all the improvements over the base 1/55.

2.0? I'd "Tanya Harding" everyone here and their grandmother to be first in line...so long as the modifications and updates preserve the spirit and build quality of the original. I'm really looking forward to the "missing link" VF-1J to be released this year.

They're already kinda doing it by reviving the 1/55s. Probably still gauging the max money they can make off of nostalgia and how to promote/market it similar to those TF missing link stuff... limited production, marketing it as some "collector grade" will-become-vintage type of figure... before collectors either "get tired out" or just die out 😅. Still miffed that the latest VF-1S release is region restricted here in Asia (where both Japan and China are located, doh!) and preorders here from local dealers are at TWE level prices ($290++) for a retail release! I just want to get one to get to experience it, even though I've restricted myself to 1/60s and HMRs for Macross stuff. Tempted to preorder one I saw online from a JP "indent" seller, but it's still at $215. On a different note, there was a DX YF-21 available from a similar JP seller for only $175, but yesterday only. Scared off by the potential broken parts out of the box and that it's only really good for one mode.

That Tucano looks great @electric indigo! The amount of intricate detail on that are incredible @Papa Rat!

It's going to take me a minute to commit the variants to memory. To level set: AFC-01X Legioss Omega - purple/yellow AFC-01X Legioss Delta - green/orange AFC-01X Legioss Alpha - grey/white I was surprised by the unorthodox wing design of their Delta. I figured Toyrise et al. would follow the typical playbook and release three or four color variants of the traditional Legioss and that would've been the end of things. And being a new product line from a company unfamiliar to me, I didn't expect the second variant, the Delta, to be announced before I had my Omegas already in hand. And now the Alpha's been announced. I want to take this roll-out strategy as a sign that the companies behind this line have a lot of faith these figures will resonate with fans and move lots of units: I'm certainly doing my part to help. Bring on the rest of the Greek alphabet!

Matrix needs a chain. That's an easy mod! I think it will probably be a preorder. Astrotrain looks better now that we see the PROPER Robot mode achieved with a neat little G1 figure touch, also adding those train linkages moving while the vehicle mode rolls....that's cool. Would I buy it? hm.........that's hard. It looks better now that we see it in all its light, but I still can't say 100% I'd want it. Kranx....gosh, it's hard for me to justify with their current pricing to get 1 time shown characters. Like I never bought Alpha Trion in any of his releases and I dunno if I'd bother with Kranx. I think he's cool, it's great he gets an actual figure but the jet mode is such a cobbled together thing that I don't think I'm feeling it. Of course, Wheeljack, Sunstreaker again, I already got them, I really don't see a point in getting any others. Not to mention WFC Wheeljack released forever ago still looks better in my opinion. The SS86 and those before hand just are lacking in details for me.- 18140 replies

inb4 bandai stops making 1/48, leaving completionists in rage and starts making a new-new vf-1 toy series in another scale, and starts all over with TV Hikaru 1J. ☠️
