  1. Past hour
  2. The Hawk shop is pretty memorable and weird
  3. Found Soundwave at Target. I'm ok without Blast Off and Brawl for now since I won't be able to form Bruticus yet anyway. Happy to have Soundwave right in time for Christmas.
  4. Give that ILM, or former members thereof, worked on the models, they shared a lived-in, used aesthetic that gave them a realism never before seen in previous sci-fi, Kubrick's 2001 : A Space Odyssey notwithstanding. Too, I think a lot of ILM's other tricks were used, or copied, to make the motions of the ships look more realistic and dynamic. I don't recall any space fighter scenes from Buck Rogers (I may have missed the eps when they occurred, but I've seen pics of Rogers' ship over the years- it is cool). However, the Viper launch scenes from BSG are forever etched in my memory- happily so.
  5. I'm not so sure about that.. I think the ending kinda went off the rails in just one episode, however it was the strongest title of this season. It has its faults, but compared to everything else this season...
  6. Today
  7. I have some of the originals and reissues. I'm looking forward to filling out my 1/55 squardon.
  8. My favorite sci fi ships came from that era. Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers. Something about the details and hand painted models felt more realistic than any cg space ships and fighters
  9. You who doesn't love Flashback 2012 enough to source a copy that doesn't look like a 5 gen bootleg? Disney +.....
  10. What I would do: Then,
  11. Keep in mind that since Hasegawa's reputation is the strongest for scale aircraft, apparently their focus is to keep the technology of Macross mecha consistent with real-world mechanics rather than copying the anime aesthetic in which the Valkyrie's nacelles swell up once they form the Battroid's legs to look more stylized for the animation. The thing about the hands is that Hasegawa has to make some compromises in order to maintain uniformity. The Armored Valk, as drawn, has bigger feet and hands, yet it's still supposed to be the same mecha, just with external armor. Those big, fat hamfists won't be able to hold the gunpod. My friend got all upset over Hasegawa's Armored Valk's hands but I pointed this out to him. Big fat fingers can't wrap around the rifle's trigger! So when I built my Armored Valk, I used the DYRL hands just because I think they look better aesthetically.

  13. @wm cheng Here's my J-31, I did a quick build & just wanted to see it in a not-black scheme back in the day. It was way before we got all these nice J-35 pics. Still the most beautiful past 4th gen fighter that actually flies IMO. My approach was: paint the fuselage with shading, then spend a whole lot of tape & time to mask the whole body, then spray the light grey borders. What I would do today: Spray the light grey borders freehand, then mask them with just a few strips of tape, then do the main areas, shade, weather etc. and when you're done there, remove the masks for the edges.
  14. Someone allowed the Murder Droid to dual-wield a couple of blasters :
  15. Yeah… the decals are bigger than an DIN A4 sheet. Tons of delicate lines and stuff. Might want to mask that… I‘ll take a picture tomorrow
  16. Towa no Yuugure ended today. This show started with such promise and did not live up to it.
  17. Me neither. At least I had some Aclad Aqua Gloss and that worked good. Not anymore, which will help. And the RAM panels are the one thing that every manufacturer seem to over-emphasize. At 1/48, a decal would do just fine, considering how minimally raised they really are. Not having to pick out another shade to highlight them is great.
  18. And that makes it n entire operation that I cannot imagine anyone really desiring to undertake if the targets aren't stationary. Given the large amount of opportunity for error/ "a miss", it would make more sense to simply dispatch a fighter closer to the target where such time-delay and distance would not impede success. My mistake; I just realized you were talking about the Alpha-1 and Omega-1; for some reason, I thought you were speaking about the Ghost. Oops! Right; I think the Moon's orbit isn't perfectly circular.
