The only thing that gives me hope for this is that he is not writing or directing. 2 hours ago, TangledThorns said: Superman set a very low bar so Supergirl should be better... Sad but true. I'm really hoping it is better on its own merits rather than just in comparison. Quote

I’m kinda doubtful after seeing her character in Superman. She seemed like just a drunken party girl that leaves her dog to go binge some more. But the biggest issue that I had with Superman was that there was no beginning or middle to the story and we just get thrown into the ending. I kinda doubt they’d do that with Supergirl, but I’m hoping her story doesn’t just skip over things and she’s just coming back from getting trashed and picking up her dog as the beginning of the movie Quote

Three things already in its favor. And I think Milly Alcock will be good in the role, and blame her entire showing on Gunn himself. Quote
TangledThorns Posted Thursday at 06:55 PM Posted Thursday at 06:55 PM Eh... why do they even bother? Quote
Roy Focker Posted Thursday at 07:40 PM Posted Thursday at 07:40 PM I have this rule. It is called if the opening of your movie includes somebody pissing, you're in for a bad movie. See Water World for example. I have yet to see the new Superman movie but from what I've seen and read a bunch of monsters and cosmic weird stuff happens in it. I've got problem with superhero movies that bring cosmic chaos to Earth. It is unrealistic in how everyone is pretty much fine afterwards. That stuff is too strange for average people to deal with. The economy, essential services, law and order would all break in the mass hysteria. Not just in the city happen it but around the entire globe. When your movie take place in outer space you can get weird and it doesn't break the rules of reality. So, I'll give it a point for that. Quote
Big s Posted Thursday at 09:00 PM Posted Thursday at 09:00 PM This might be worse than I thought. Now she’s not just a drunk party girl that neglects her dog, but a depressed mopey drunk party girl that neglects her dog. Get the feeling that they keep picking the worst versions of these characters possible rather than giving us the versions of them we all really want to see. Kinda also get the feeling that the side characters are gonna be the best part of the movie again Quote

Looks like this one will be a streaming release for me, unless I miss it like most of the others I say that about. Quote

I’ll probably wait for streaming as well since it just kinda looks like a drunker remake of Guardians of the Galaxy, unless I hear it’s really worth watching. Kinda starting to feel like DC needs another reboot already was just wondering if Lobo has his dog in this movie that he was shown with in a lot of the early 90’s comics. They both seem to have awkwardly ill mannered dogs now that Krypto has been raised by a drunk that barely cares about him Edited 18 hours ago by Big s Quote
DarrinG Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Just watched Critical Drinker's review. He's saved me from so much sorrow. I CANNOT believe this was made. They should have put Jar Jar Banks in it... Quote

Tking22 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Yeah I think Drinker reviewed Superman, not Supergirl, which obviously isn't out yet, he may have done an opinion video on the trailer. I think it looks just fine, I liked Superman overall, I'll definitely be checking it out. Momoa finally playing the DC character he was always meant to is a huge bonus for me, I've loved Lobo for years, dude is insane, THE MAIN MAN! Quote

That’s really the part of this I’m actually interested in. He looks the part and can definitely give off that attitude in a character. In real life he’s much nicer, but not above starting some real chaos. I remember that video of him starting a Mosh Pit while Pantera was doing their set at Black Sabbath’s final concert over the summer. Dude just jumped down from the stage and got the crowd moving with him. And to be such a star and not fear the crowd in a high contact interaction is definitely the kind of guy they need for this character Quote

I'm going in with a lot of skepticism where this is concerned, thanks to Whinerman, and the first posts about peeing had me fearing, but it was just the dog, so I don't mind that. (well, I kinda mind the dog, but oh well...) But, for a first trailer, not bad. They need some different music, as I am not much of a Blondie fan, but I like the visuals and I can get and understand where she's dealing with a lot of stress and pain. She was a young adult when Krypton was destroyed, after all. So, feeling a little optimistic amid my skepticism. Quote

Big s Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 9 hours ago, Mommar said: By Tom King? Automatic trash. I don’t know too much about him. All I know is that when a movie company says they’re basing something off a storyline from a beloved run or graphic novel from a comic, they rarely end up being as good as that. I do still think there’s always a chance this movie might be good, but the trailer is definitely not showing it. But as I’ve said, if I do end up hearing it’s really good, I might check it out, but probably still gonna wait for streaming. I don’t know that I ever really cared for Supergirl, so maybe that’s another reason I’m not too excited about her. Quote
