Chronocidal Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I hate to be the guy with popcorn waiting for the thing to explode, but I will be very curious to see if they have made any changes to the leg design this go-around. End of the day though, it at least makes a mostly decent fighter display. Also, if they colored it correctly, this one shouldn't be using that obsidian-like metallic plastic that always explodes into shrapnel along the flow lines. I might actually disassemble one, and gut it for parts to repair my busted 171s, then just glue it into permanent fighter. Quote

Froy Posted March 20 Posted March 20 VF-19 was selling for 18k yen at Mandarake. I see this one going for 16 or 15 in a couple of weeks. Bandai really messed this one up. Quote
PointBlankSniper Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Are those joints made of granite speckle pattern plastic? After getting it right with the revivals, they have to be intentionally trolling now by introducing heterogeneous materials that invoke thoughts of their mythical explodium plastic...😱 Quote

I'm content with my Yammie VF-17 for now. I hope they'll do an HMR VF-17, and if they do, as you said, it'll very likely be a scaled down version of the Yamato just like their VF-4. We really need another toy company dedicated to getting Macross right, as Arcadia is all but dead at this point, and while not everything they made was perfect, at least there was passion behind their products. We need a toy company with that kind of dedication again, as well as the finances to take chances on obscure designs along with the more popular ones. Bandai has the finances, but obviously, Macross is an afterthought. Quote
recon Posted March 22 Posted March 22 (edited) Ankles/thrusters jutting out in fighter mode Gerwalk mode is just horrible and has no resemblance to the OA If this is not plain laziness on tamashii part to try and frankelstein the VF-171, i dunnoe what is Is it me or the DX VF-17S is severely lacking in tampos department? Guess this will be a one off release due to the poor sales and revenue Edited March 22 by recon Quote

Chronocidal Posted March 23 Posted March 23 (edited) 20 hours ago, recon said: Is it me or the DX VF-17S is severely lacking in tampos department? Guess this will be a one off release due to the poor sales and revenue Honestly, this is probably one of the first times I've looked at a Bandai valk and not had issues with the tampo situation. They usually splatter everything to high heaven with excessive markings, so it's refreshing to see them show some restraint, and just stick with what's in the animation (which is incredibly minimal). They arguably even did a better job than Yamato in this case, since they printed the kites on the spine. I can appreciate Yamato wanting to give folks the option to go entirely low-vis on a "stealth" valk, but I would rather just have it look like the animation (and can't stand stickers). Sadly, that's about the only thing I'd say they got right. I'm not going to hold my breath for more releases, but I was really hoping we'd get Ray's two-seater out of the deal, since that would at least be something new. I'm still hoping we actually get the band trio out of this eventually, but right now I'd honestly be more interested in more VF-19s or a VF-11 of some flavor. Edit: Also, now that I actually see it, screw you Bandai. You and your patented explodium-based plastic can both go drown yourself in the sun. As if I needed even more reasons to never transform this thing.. Edited March 23 by Chronocidal Quote

Lolicon Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Yeah I'm not preordering any Bandai valkyries anymore. Between the quality issues, price plummeting immediately after release, and duties on top of already high shipping prices, it's just not worth it. Quote
jenius Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Agreed, this isn't good for our hobby. Nobody is winning, not Bandai, not us, and not the retailers. Not sure what the fix is other than much smaller production runs. Quote
