Like mog_kupo points out, it's less quality but still good to display with.  Give or take, somewhere in-between of GFFMC and MB quality?

@recon, I think this is just standard Chogokin line. Not Soul of Chogokin. :good:

Looks like it since it has the Gundam SEED Freedom logo on the image banner.

chogokin_mighty_strike.jpg.c480102424cc31aa0636f4b0c0fe4007.jpg

But pass for me. I don't like any Strike Freedom variations way past Gundam SEED Destiny series when it comes to design. But I still going to watch the movie. :spiteful:

My bad. When i see the chogokin label, SOC naturally comes to my mind

Of the lot, im only keen on sazabi but i think i will hold out for a MB or GFFMC ver

Hopefully Bandai has a much faster turnaround time getting a MB Strike Freedom Type II or Mighty SF out.

Based on this line art comparison, the current MB Strike Freedom would only require new hip cannons, shoulders and backpack.

Ok you got me. Whats the difference between chogokin line and soul of chogokin line.

From what I know Chogokin is their old original diecast line which carries anything in-between. No dedicated series or line even though they featured old Super Robots in the line.

Soul of Chogokin which was introduced back in the 90's to update previous releases from the 70's and 80's with features. And is mostly dedicated to the Super Robots genre. With some stuff in-between like Tokusatsu series.

However, Chogokin releases also got improved to a point where you cannot distinguished anymore from each line. A Chogokin Gundam will probably look like a Metal Build Gundam displayed together until you inspect it closely due to differences in features.

In the end, no matter which Chogokin line, there's more plastic than diecast in the end product.

Im not sure if im the only one who feels this way but i like the chogokin mighty strike freedom sculpt better than the MB strike freedom as its more anime accurate

Question is why bandai decided to release this variant under the chogokin instead of the MB line given the fact that anything related freedom is an instant sell out

Was catching up with the old wire series and what you explained above sounds familiar..🤭

Spoiler

sounds like bandai trying to rebrand but unsure what to do with the old legacy brand. 😆

Unfortunately I don't have a SF of my own, but I'm surprised to read it needs a 2.0? I thought it was already one of the newer/better MBs to have – engineering, articulation, materials bad?

I get that totally. For me the Master Grade kits were sort quasi-standard for design and the expressive MB interpretations weren't cutting it initially. But after experiencing some MBs first hand and being blown away at what one can pull off with them, I have kind of grown to appreciate these alternate design-takes.

As for Mighty SF going Chogokin instead of MB, I would guess the MB team is too busy and well into preparing the next new release. I think the MB team would probably want to have more time to curate a new Strike Freedom.

Not that the Strike Freedom NEEDS a 2.0 ver but it is a 9 year old figure and it kinda shows compared to the newer MB (Not the Exias or Astrays) and seeing the high demand on the after market it could be  easy money to Bandai

i thought the freedom 2.0 was to help the old freedom catch up to the strike freedom's improvements.

If we get another strike freedom, i think it will sell like hotcakes.

when selling my entire metal build collection, strike freedom and soul blue made me the most money.

Kind of

The Freddom 2.0 its a better product than the Strike Freedom, but again, the Freeedom 2.0 arrived 5 years after the SF so the improvements were to be expected

google search:

Metal Build followed the 2007 release of a similar line of partly diecast action figures under Gundam Fix Figuration Metal Composite, which focuses on Universal Century mecha and is based on the designs and artwork of Hajime Katoki. In contrast, Metal Build has focused on other timelines than Universal Century.

Metal build has more accessories like you mentioned, and also tends to be more detailed. Chogokin is usually designed with animation accuracy in mind, while metal build is stylised. Chogokin uses ratchet joints (better for longevity) while metal build is strictly friction.

while some may favor MB more than chogokin, I think it’s wrong to say chogokin is the budget line. It’s a different design approach. Simpler and more anime accurate design will feel less detailed but it’s meant to be that way, not to say it’s lower quality.

anyone pre-order the chogokin freedom from p-bandai?

i'm passing on it. i'm out of MB game but may get one or two here and there.

Might get a metal structure at somepoint though.

Which Chogokin Freedom, David? The Freedom ver.GCP or the Mighty Strike Freedom?

As much as I like Kira's Freedom suits, for some reason the ones featured in the movie, both Rising Freedom and Mighty Strike Freedom, didn't click with me. So pass for me.

I'm already happy with Freedom Concept 2 and the Third Party Strike Freedom. Too bad my MB collections are dominated by Setsuna's suits.

$320 MSRP, $357 and some change after shipping and tax, kinda steep.

Someone REALLY needs to let the people running p-bandai know that their JPY to USD conversion rate is about 3 years out of date. 🙄

As if they'd care..  I end up ordering via Hong Kong P-Bandai and paid ~$250 USD instead of $320.  Still more than yen price but not by much.

That's insane, though.  Y45,650 for essentially a 1/144 scale figure.  Given the pre-order shenanigans, you could get 2 of the 3 orders in?...

Does the figure not come with a base?  Why does the wings of light set have another sword and buster?  Why not just package the effect parts in?  Why is the Zeus Silhouette more than the figure?  So many questions...

According to P-Bandai US listing, Destiny Spec II comes with a base. The Wings of Light Effect set's Sword and Rail Gun is probably the version that is touch bigger than the stock size and has that exaggerated perspective look for cool displaying purposes. Why not package the effects together with the stock release? The reason for that is to charge you more. As for the Zeus Silhouette Option Parts, it's how Bandai do on this exclusive stuff. They really charge a lot. They can price the option part the same as the actual figure. It can be more or it can be less. Atleast, if you don't like the Zeus Silhouette form, then you can just get the Destiny Spec II. Or if you really just want Destiny, I think it's just cheaper to get the previous release.
