shinagami
hi all, this is my first WIP, i'm no good in story telling nor writing...so please bear with me. i've been drooling ever since i read master cheng's wip on his version of vf-1 atmo booster....been looking around and suddenly SSM got it in stock bought it together with the launch pylon. so here it goes. any comments, suggestions and questions are most welcome. i'll skip the sanding parts + the vf-1 assembly (most of it I did refer to master cheng's thread) dry fitting of the vf-1s + moscato's atmospheric booster dry fitting of the launch pylon some gak from old broken bandai 1/60 helldiver model kit to be use as the engine parts inside the atmo booster dry fit of the engine parts Edited August 18, 2009 by shinagami

cool8or
I'm building the same kit. If the resin surface is shining, sand it very well, if not the paint will not fix in the resin. I'll be watching your progress.

shinagami
THE CONCEPT 1)i like roy focker + 2)unfortunately he died b4 the atmospheric-booster were even built + 3)i love the atmospheric booster + 4)he's an ace pilot + 5)ace pilots frequently assigned for test flight/experimenting prototypes like isamu dyson + guld bowman = i'm thinking of building this vf-1S as an experimental program for the atmospheric booster with roy focker as the test pilot. enough with the theory, here r some pics from the build-up progress.... in between the two boosters engine is the thermo-nuclear reactor with some cooling tower and propellant. those are kit bashing from an old eva shield (dont know which eva, my friend sold off all of his junk/leftovers/brocken model in bulk to me for a very reasonable price...) i thought since this is the experimental project, might as well put all the accessories as i see fit.... air intake/vents to cool of the boosters. some detailing probably service hatches. those small holes marked with red r for the booster's lights (well not that i'm gonna put in LEDs or real lights....just some leftovers clear sprues). parts being primed using mr. pimer white 1500 grit the booster's base(or whatever u call it) being painted with alclad II ALC112 the vf-1S after being painted with Tamiya xf-1 flat white and for the grey parts with Tamiya xf-1 mix with a few drops of xf-20 medium grey. decals been applied after a few layers of tamiya clear coats. cockpit interior... the gun pod... most of the parts being painted and decaled booster's base color Tamiya xf-53 neutral grey launch pylon + booster painted and shaded plus some basic decals detailing parts for the launch pylon. paints to be use for the boosters i painted the boosters with mr.metal color #214 dark iron...notice the rough/bumpy surface. mr.metal color is said to shine after polished with polishing compound the results + a layer of alclad II ALC112 Edited October 24, 2009 by shinagami

leading edge
fantastic work amigo!!! nice weathering effect...One word awsome to add another would be pointless because this is off-the wall-good man. How did you get the wheathering to look so good? Graphite rubbing thinned paint, airbrush? Because that is professional looking man.
