Macross Mecha Manual

No statistics or trivia is being released for any of the Macross Frontier mecha, hopefully meaning they will eventually show up in the Macross Chronicle or another book is being published. We just have to hope such a published source of information appears sooner rather than later. :)

My money is on the Red and Blue Macross Frontier Materials books... B))

The SDFM Materials and the TIA Macross 7 Materials had buckets of goodies in them... ;)

I wish. Actually, much like Graham has said, I wish for a This Is Animation Special book on Macross Frontier. That would be my dream book.

TheLoneWolf

I do have some Zentradi soldier line art and Protodeviln line art, but I've not included them because they aren't mecha and they have no statistics. The Vajra are an exception for obvious reasons. However, I am eager to include colored line art of the two in a size comparison chart. But then again, I have a lot of really interesting ideas for Macross size comparison charts.

Oh, the work! Oh the humanity! :)

crop it from BD vol3 B))

the design looks cool..but i seems can't find where battle

Galaxy attach...

On the top? This looks to me like the bridge super structure of the Battle Galaxy.

Any way to get better scans?

Without further information, I'm considering the bottom three as a seperate design, possibly rejected.

I can see how the 3 views at bottom relate to each other, but I can't figure out what perspective we see in the top pic and in the series... Are the bottom ones concepts perhaps?

OK, I was wondering if it was just me... If the tower on top is Battle Galaxy's bridge, it would seem Mainland is more the size of City7, rather than Island1. I guess we may never know. Or maybe the Chronicle will have something to say someday.

I really question whether any thought was put into the design of the Galaxy beyond "this looks really cool"

I cannot for the life of me figure out how a livable city is fit into the galaxy, what the purpose of the giant glowing disks on the ship are for, and where the heck the Battle galaxy fits.

Judging by Sheryl's comments, and her reaction to the vistas on Frontier (especially Island 1), I am willing to guess that the glowing domes are probably the living areas on [Mainland] Galaxy. How exactly they are laid out and could be interconnected is anyone's guess.

"Purple" is the color of enemy mecha, such as Varauta and stuff ^_^

After looking at HR image of Galaxy, I'm beginning to doubt that Battle Galaxy is on top of that thing. I better wait for official confirmation from lineart.

Galaxy fleet is quite small for a Long Range Immigration Fleet with only a single main island, unless Galaxy main island is very huge (bigger than Frontier islands combined).

I want MF TIA :( . There are plenty of mechanical stuff that aren't explained yet, like the scout ship from Galaxy (the one who fold to Frontier in episode 6), Frontier escort fleet and also the Q-rea with nukes on its shoulder :p

From what Sheryl said Galaxy uses chemical plants.

So technically it is closer to Three Star class than a City dome type.

Basically they stuffed all the functions of a colony fleet into one ship.

From what we've seen with Macross 1, 5, 7, 11 and Frontier they have multiple residence and functionality ships.

Macross Frontier like Macross 11 has a interconnected fleet of island ships.

Only that Frontier has its islands connected to the main residential city ship.

Also the uniqueness of its escort fleet indicates it is truly a privately funded fleet.

It wouldn't surprise me if Galaxy Mainland is better armed than a City type with its NMC carrier.

The bow keeps me thinking that it is a heavy energy convergence beam cannon.

Funny. I have the opposite reaction. The structure is similar to the bridge of the Battle Galaxy. The colour is also similar; and different from the rest of the ship, too.

GATTAI!!

I presenting Dul-Tos, or is it Ka-lfim, either way its sooo wrong to do it

Lol

Indeed, though I've heard the Kaitos is a battleship while the Dulfim is a carrier.

If these two classes were built to dock with each other perhaps they are always paired in twos.

A battleship carrier combo so to speak.

Not that it is unheard of.

The Macross Class has two ARMD ships. Urugas and Guantanamos dock with bigger ships. Usually civilian ships.

As for where Battle Galaxy is. At the first representations of Battle Frontier is different from the finished product.

That may be the same case here.

I've got some level of cognitive dissonance with the Galaxy fleet screenshots because the escort ships are all facing to the left, and by the navigation lights Mainland is facing right. If that's the case, mind, we wouldn't be able to see where Battle Galaxy docks if it's in front.

first, I'm not sure how you determined the orientation of the Galaxy based on the several hondred lights on the ships hull. (if anything I'd say the lights indicate the ship is facing left since the antenna with light on them that are on the dorsal section of the ship are all swept to the right of the image (presumably these antenna are swept back so the back of the ship is to the right)

also, when ever we see fleets in macross every ship in a fleet is oriented in the same differection. so why would the every ship in galaxy's fleet be going the oposite way of the main ship.

the Galaxy really is a mystery wrapped in an enigma buried knee deep in a limerick, the list of things we don't know is longer than the list of things we do.

how big is the galaxy?

how many people are on it?

are there other civilian ships with it?

where the heck does Battle Galaxy go?

what does the whole thing actually look like? (so far all we've seen are some obscured shots form oblique angles. I demand some top, side on, and rear views.)

can the BG's Macross cannon be used while it's docked?

dose it even dock at all?

is the thing of the front a big gun?

is that even the front at all?

how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? :p

It's not the way the antennae face, but the colors on them: with ships and aircraft, the left/port navigation lights will be red and the right/starboard lights will be green. Those consistent paired lights really make me wonder, though as you said, it's very strange if the other ships are all pointed the other direction.

Can someone capture a HR image of Dulfim and Kaitos side view schematic when they are on VF-25 tactical display (epi.7, I forgot the time frame), I'll try to make the lineart of it if its possible.
