  1. All I know is that it wouldn't be a big deal for her if she was more famous for other things she has done since Macross. Not sure who's fault that is, but that's really the bottom line. I kind of have to agree with Noriko Takaya. I enjoy listening to DYRL and Angel's Paints. Her other Macross songs are quaint and nice, but it's really dated now. There was nothing that was really catchy nor something I want to listen to often. There was that theme song to Galaxy Angel that I liked as well. To be perfectly honest, I have no interest in listening to her new work. Maybe I should. Maybe it's good and I would enjoy it, but I don't feel compelled to seek it out. Does she sing mostly in Japanese or English? If she is mainly a Japanese artist, why would she be very popular in the US if not for being tied to an anime or something that would hook in the fans? If she mostly writes English songs, it's probably very difficult for a non-Western artist to make it in the US music industry. I'm just not sure what she wants for herself or what she expected to happen coming to the US as a Japanese music artist. Or, maybe she's content with her music career, and is just tired of talking about Macross? Even with May'n and Nakajima, I like listening to all the Frontier related stuff. If they ever produced new stuff that is similar I would check it out. I really don't know what they are saying. I sometimes try to find out a general sense of what the song is about, but for me it's all about the sound of the music and lyrics. I can see why she would feel the way she does. I don't blame her for feeling upset if she keeps getting bombarded by Macross when she personally is not interested in that. Maybe she feels if not for Macross her other work would have been more popular. Maybe it is relatively popular, I don't really pay much attention to all that so I don't really know. But, as frustrating is it seems to be, you should never vent at the fans that like you. The bottom line is they are her fans. For whatever reason they like her, they do. And, that's something to feel good about. And, for the record, I have never once contacted her about Macross in person or through the internet. I just didn't want to make it seem like I was offended by what she said. As a Macross fan I'm content in leaving her alone and just enjoying Macross. I just felt she shouldn't let it get to her to the point that she needed to vent like that.
  2. Kind of like how Tarantino made stuff up for Inglorious Basterds. I'll bet there's someone out there that believes that's what happened.
  3. It was great while it lasted. I finally got the SDF-1 for 20% off. I'll be saving my pennies for the next sale.
  4. No worries. I'm just glad guys like you are able to get them as they come out and keep us informed. I would have never known about the cool booklets if not for the people on MW.
  5. You know I pretty much completely forgot about the movie Flubber until you brought it up just now. Thanks.
  6. Yes, I meant what volume of Newtype Ace. I don't think they reset the volume numbers each year though. So, Vol. 9 is Vol. 9. The confusion is a good example of what I am talking about. I'm sure people will want to know which one to order so that they can get the 30th anniversary goodies. It's what I am doing. I've written off Newtype Ace as something that is just not worth it to me. However, in light of these supplements I will be ordering vol. 8, 9, and most likely vol. 10 in order to get all 3 booklets.
  7. I've been wondering about something. I have transferred all of my pages to the binders, but I am wondering what to do with the covers. I think the art on the front is very nice to keep. I've been thinking about simply cutting the front cover off and putting them all in a generic binder to save. I may even trim the back cover and save that as well. What have you guys done with the cover once you have separated and sorted all the pages for Vol. 1 through 50?
  8. Thanks for posting this and letting us know what is included in the latest issue. To be clear, though, it would be a good idea to state the actual volume so that there is no confusion if someone happens to read this later on when more volumes are already out. This is Vol. 9 I assume?
  9. I think it was simply a matter of being genuinely pissed to the point where he couldn't stop the Hulk from coming out vs. working himself up with anger to bring the Hulk out of him.
  10. Dang! I'm super jealous to those that are able to go.
  11. Thanks for the heads up. I was able to pre-order. I'm going to cancel my pre-order with Nippon-Yasan. Saved a few bucks.
  12. I'd take sides with The Birdman. Anything less and you're bound to be labeled a kadun.
  13. I've been out of the Macross game for much too long it seems. I've strayed too long from my dark mistress that is Macross. I'm just now hearing about this. I pre-ordered the LE set from Nippon-Yasan, but held off on paying until it gets closer to release date. From all the stuff you get in the LE it was a total no brainer. I just recently ordered the Yamato SDF-1 and it should be arriving in a few days. I will need to get the Yamato VF-4 if at all possible. This is going to be one epic year for Macross. If 2012 is supposed to be the end of the world, I'm gonna die watching DRYL on blu-ray with a 1/3000 scale SDF-1 in one hand and a 1/60 VF-4 in the other.
  14. Since I have the Animego release I'm not that interested in getting the BD. Still, if was going to spend that kind of money on something Macross I'd rather get the Yamato SDF-1.
  15. Also, considering that you can get pretty much every issue of the first one today from HLJ.com I think it's too soon as well. Let's see 80 issues at 690yen per issue. That comes out to 55200yen which converts to about $725US before shipping and with no binders. Yeah, not looking to get into it all over again. That could be money that goes to Yamato. I will be looking to get a few binders though.
  16. Nice. I skipped the VF-25, but I will sure want to pick this one up.
  17. Bumping a 5 year old topic...WTF is this?
  18. I stopped around 1985 (more or less) when I first saw a bootleg VHS tape of DYRL.
  19. If grittiness is a deciding factor for what is cool, then I would have to say Frontier (the show) is way grittier than SDFM or MII
  20. Actually, I don't think you need to understand Japanese culture to understand Frontier. From the perspective of the civilians all they know is that the Vajra are attacking them for no reason because they are savage creatures and they have to defend themselves. In the show, it was a matter of survival for them to colonize the Vajra home planet. Since, the Vajra were seen as the aggressor bad guys that attacked Frontier and put them in that situation in the first place, I'm sure the average citizen didn't have a problem with it. With regard to the love triangle, again you don't need to understand Japanese culture to get it. It is obvious that all three of them were similar in age since they went to the same school. How is that any different than any other story of love and relationships and what goes on in any American high school setting.
  21. Me too. Maybe, they will re-issue it to have the stealthy versions from the movie. That would be sweet.
  22. I need to stop reading this thread. Now I'm tempted to get a Hikaru, Max, and Kakizaki.
