Just wanted to follow up. I checked all my discs, and they seem perfectly fine. No cracks. In fact I can see that these particular cases don't really put any stress on the hub once it's locked in. There is plenty of play between the hub snaps and the disc. I think the only time it stresses is when you actually have to push down on the hub to release it. I rarely get into these to watch it. In any case I think I'll just rip them to my hard drive for view pleasure anytime I want.

Wow, I swear she gets cuter ever time I see her! Especially when she was speaking English. Thanks for posting!

That's kind of my feeling. I like the ability of the legs to come down to either hover or land VTOL style. So, I do kind of a half gerwalk with no arms deployed. I really see no reason to have full gerwalk other than maybe a novice pilot may find it easier to control and have the ability to use the arms and hands.

I had no idea this was an issue. I better check mine and put them in new cases just to play it safe.

sharky replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
OK, here are some pics of what you get if anyone is still not sure. Kind of an unboxing if you will. Here is a link to my photobucket slideshow http://s896.photobucket.com/user/therealsharky/slideshow/Macross%20Frontier%20Blu-ray Edit: sniped by Banshee Still, check out the pics. I have some more pages from the artbooks and how it's packed in the box.- 287 replies

Macross Frontier Movies BD Boxset WITH ENGLISH SUBS!
sharky replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
With the added shipping expense I started to get a little buyers remorse at how much I spent on it. Those feelings immediately went away when I got the boxset. Very pleased with everything. The movie looks fantastic on my 60" TV. The subs are very good. I only wish they had subbed the DYRL blu-ray when it was released. The 2 art books are really good as well. Large format and high quality all the way. This is how all Macross releases should be. One question. There is another blu-ray paper sleeve that came flat in it's own protective bag. It's been a while for me. What is that all about? Looks it's for some game or something. Features a cartoon dog(?) I think. I'll check it out more tonight when I have more time. Also want to mention the package from amiami was good with plenty of protection all around. No complaints on that. Again, very pleased all around at this boxset. No regrets.- 287 replies

Macross Frontier Movies BD Boxset WITH ENGLISH SUBS!
sharky replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
A blu-ray with bonus dics costs around $30 normally in the US not on sale (MSRP is more like $40). A 200 page movie art book might go for around $30. Let's say a 100 page book would go for around $20. We just broke the $100 mark at this point and we are not even factoring in special packaging which normally comands a more premium price, I would also guess a relatively lower production number and a lower expection on sales volume than a normal US released movie and I can see how we arrive at the $160 range. To be fair it does seem pricey compared to the DYRL blu-ray which was around $130-$140 range. But, I am thinking this is 2 full length feature movies with extras as opposed to 1 full length feature with extras, so the extra $20 in price doesn't seem unreasonable to me.- 287 replies

I'm going to pretend you didn't say that. I just wet my pants a little. OK, a lot. Pretty much. After seeing it I think there will be those that will change their mind. For me it was always a no brainer as long as it wasn't some crazy price like over $500 or something.

Just so I'm clear, the Minmay shower scene and/or the guy getting his head chopped off are the Holy Grail film strips, yes?
-
Woo hoo! I just got it today. My film strip is the scene where Hikaru is grabbing Minmay with his valkyrie as she is falling inside the SDF-1. I'll take a pic tonight. BTW, what exactly is Macross The Musicalture all about. I assume some kind of musical? Is it animated?

DYRL BD Remaster - the Good.......and the BAD.
sharky replied to SCOOPUDA!'s topic in Movies and TV Series
There's an idea. Why the heck not? Don't they record the voice acting first anyway and sync the animation to the voices? So, they wouldn't need to re-record the voices, right? -
Tell me about it. I was all gung ho in the beginning, but I quickly changed my tune after getting the first one. I was sucking it up and ordering Macross Ace and I eventually completed Macross Chronicle, but this is just too much money for me in the US for what you get.
-
Mine looks like it's been in customs since Monday at the facility at JFK airport in NY. Hopefully, it won't take a long time to clear and makes it's way home. Has anybody on the east coast tracked their order and figured out how long it took once it arrived in the US. I used registered SAL as my shipping method.

DYRL BD Remaster - the Good.......and the BAD.
sharky replied to SCOOPUDA!'s topic in Movies and TV Series
I can't recall anyone ever saying "wow, taking that part out made the movie better" Now adding in more stuff may improve things or it may make things worse, but taking even a tiny bit out of something people have already grown to love never helps it only hurts. It does make a difference if he had done this during the original editing of the movie and we always saw it this way. Regarding your other point, maybe it has something to do with keeping it out of public domain. If you change it enough maybe they can create another copyright and maintain control over it as far as licensing the rights to it, etc. Just a theory. -
Is that going to be our "Han shot first" mantra? My vote would be to make up a name for him. "Larry got his head chopped off!" It could catch on. BTW, I have to praise amiami customer service. They sent me an automated payment confirmation, but they also replied directly to my inquiry and re-confirmed payment late last night. Then early this morning I got my shipping confirmation with tracking info. Hope it doesn't take too long to get here. Regarding FB-2012, would be fair to say that watching the official DVD upscaled on my Blu-ray player is comparable to what I would get when watching the Blu-ray of FB2012?

I see others had some issues with payment as well. I mentioned my particular problem in the other thread. Basically, I ended up making a manual PayPal payment and sent them money using their instructions as far as recipient e-mail and subject heading. -
I just got my payment request today from amiami. I'm going to pay it right away. Getting excited. Had a little trouble with my PayPal payment. I'm not sure if it's simply because PayPal changed the way they show the type of payment that will be made, but I wanted to play it safe. I only saw the option for charging to my credit card and didn't see a specific option for using my PayPal balance. I had plenty of money in my balance to cover the costs, and it seemed there was some fine print stating they would use the card only to cover the cost if it went beyond my PayPal balance. Still, in the past I would see a specific option of using the PayPal balance as the main source of funding, and I didn't see that option at all this time. I worried because that card has a low line of credit and is almost maxed out. I wanted to avoid any glitch in the payment process so I canceled that transaction. When I got sent back to amiami.com an error message appeared and gave instructions for how to manually send Paypal money as payment for the order. Basically, I sent the money to the e-mail mentioned and I put the order number in the subject line as instructed. I even added the order info in the extended notes area to make sure. Hopefully, this won't cause any issue in processing my order. Fingers crossed.
-
So, when amiami.com physically gets them in then they will start requesting payment? I guess we're still a good 3 weeks away before that is going to happen. I've got my Paypal money ready to go.
-
All this talk makes me want to crack mine open soon. It's probably been quite a few years since I've looked at it.
-
At least not a Boobarella version of him anyway.
-
I'm just waiting to see who won the DYRL lottery and got nude showering Minmay. My book was 2nd print, so no filmstrip. I did frame my VF-1S poster though.
-
Has anyone tried to see what the 3D version for these video looks like? I suppose the regular red and blue glasses would work.

You know you're right. She's a total MILF so she gets a pass in my book.
