    Bandai 1/35 DX VF-1

True, I can see the logic in picking VF-1J first. But it's kind of like Star Wars. Luke is the hero, but many people like Han more or at least acknowledge he's the cooler character.I guess this will be a new Holy Grail VF-1 toy. Move over 1/48, there's a new kid in town.

    BANDAI DX YF-19!!

Is there a way to nominate Bandai for the worst box design ever. LOL!
  4. Well, that's an easy choice for us, Arcadia! Macrossworlders never return defective products! Macrossworlders never stop buying Valkyrie toys! Go spread the word. Let every toy company assembled know the truth of this. Let each among them search his own soul. And while you're at it, search your own.
  5. I thought the original ecto-1 was an old ambulance because it used to be an emergency vehicle. This new one is a hearse. That doesn't make sense to me. Why not use an 80s Caddy ambulance.
  6. "Not related to third intallment..." what is considered third installment? Meaning not related to 3rd reboot movie. Right?
  7. If we all pitch in it wouldn't take much to convert it to a variable fighter, right? We can film it like a reality show and we'll all bond and become the bestest of friends and we'll have so much fun. C,mon! Who's with me?
  8. I have had chance to examine all the available pics, and I'm on board with both VF-31 and SV-262. It didn't take much to convince me.

    Bandai DX VF-31

OK, I'm on board the VF-31 band wagon. That didn't take very long.
  10. It would be even more annoying if his philosophy costs the life of others in the main group. This may be off topic, but I was thinking it would be fun for celebrities to make a cameo every once in a while as a zombie version of themselves. Maybe, this would be a better idea for Fear TWD, though.
  11. I dunno, the VF-25 took a little time to grow on me. I'll probably come around at some point. I do prefer non-forward sweeping wings personally. My problem is it takes me too long to get on board with it that I miss out on the toys when they are released and later regret not picking up stuff. Though, I do prefer stuff that has some influence from real military fighters even if it's only a small influence like the VF-17. Now the VF-25 looks "normal" to me.
  12. I'll be watching this thread hoping you videophiles will compare and review to see if there is any real improvement. I'd hate double dipping, but if it gets me a better quality image I'm in. I'm glad it's not a special version with tons of goodies that would have jacked up the price.
  13. A shop owner lie to make a few extra bucks? No way! I've always known them to be an honest and trustworthy bunch. He probably did read it on here.
  14. The 1/35 scale Valk is the DEVIL!
  15. Another thing I want to mention to those reboxing. The bridge will fit fine going back in the foam. I forgot that it was an assembled piece. But there's no need to disassemble it to put it back. There's clearance. I did mange to accidentally bend the very top antenna on the bridge slightly, but it wasn't enough to snap it. I was able to carefully move it back to its original position, but it was a close call. Again, it wasn't a clearance issue. It was just me being a bonehead and not watching how I handle it.
  16. Why does the name Pepe Le Vajra come to mind.
  17. While I like the idea that Bandai will do a 1/1800 scale SDF-1, I am personally quite satisfied with my Yamato 1/3000 version. It just barely fits in my display cabinet as it is. I'm assuming something that much larger in scale probably will have cool gimicks as well, and will be much higher in price. Would I love to own one? Sure! But, the reality for me is that I'm probably not going to spend that kind of money on just 1 item. I'd personally use the money to fill other items missing in my collection. Again, only because I already have the Yamato version.
  18. For Pete'a sake we just this year got the VF-1J. I think it's a little premature to think they don't have the VF-1 license anymore. I'd give it more time. But, I'm fine if anyone keeps speculating that they did. Doesn't bother me in the least, nor does it affect any reality for Arcadia. I concur with those that don't see any harm in it. I'll be patient and wait for them to re-release the VT-1. That baby will be mine and then we can have peace.

I'm not even referring to compromises in transformation due to scaling down. Of course I wasn't expecting a literal shrinking of an Arcadia design. That would be ridiculous. I wasn't expecting anything close to a perfect transformation. I'm talking about the mechanism they did design for it. My first attempt to carefully rotate the shoulder ball joint resulted in the entire arm popping off. They should have added a way for the backpack to snap into place in battroid mode. They should have included side panels to cover the torso gaps in battroid mode. This would have also provided a way to secure the shoulder attachment in battroid mode. The side hip missiles keep popping off and the crotch armor doesn't fit that we'll on one side. Not to mention the crooked "1" on the chest. Lol! If they made these simple improvements I would rate it higher then "OK". I would still recommend them, but only if you already have at least a Yamato/Arcadia VF-1S and VF-1J. If not I would recommend saving up to get them before an HMR. Right now I'm skipping the VF-1S Hikaru and only getting a Roy. I'll also skip any other VF-1 HMR. I'll still get the VT and VE for sure, destroids, and enemies. And I hope we'll get a launch arm display stand.

The reason I'm making a comparison is for people that don't have one yet and might think to go with only one scale. Also, for people who mentioned that Bandai is going after Arcadia with the HMR line. It's not inherently obvious only from photos that they don't really compare. I personally don't spend much time opening all my toys and playing with them. I'm simply too busy all the time. I still have stuff from several years ago that I haven't opened yet. My VF-4 for example. Even the prior Hi-Metal VF-1S has yet to be opened. After finally playing with it I can conclude for myself that HMR can't really compete with Arcadia'a larger scale toy. My opinion is that if you can afford an Arcadia toy you should go for it. They should be a collector's priority. The HMR stuff should be to fill gaps in your collection like enemy mecha. Or if you are going for a complete collection and can't spend Arcadia kinds of prices for everthing.
  21. She may not look like much, but she's got it were it counts, kid. But, the reviews aren't very good as far as how long it lasts in the hot sun. https://www.thinkgeek.com/product/170e/
  22. I regret not finding out about this anime sooner. Admitedly, I haven't really been following anime that closely the last few years. I'm just now getting back into things. Glad I checked this thread out. Enjoyed the first eposide, and I thought the animation quality was really good. I'll be working to catch up.

I finally was able to get around to opening my VF-1J. For the scale it's OK. It's no replacement for a Yamato/Arcadia 1/60. There's only so much you can do going dowm in scale like this. Personally, I feel the HMR line is worth collecting. I'm not so worried about handling it and transforming it since they are lower cost. I like that we are getting enemy mecha. And, due to the price, I feel like I can collect the entire line. With the Arcadia stuff I have to be selective and pick only my most favorite(s). I'm definitely happy to have both scales in my collection.
