    Actually, I don't think you need to understand Japanese culture to understand Frontier. From the perspective of the civilians all they know is that the Vajra are attacking them for no reason because they are savage creatures and they have to defend themselves. In the show, it was a matter of survival for them to colonize the Vajra home planet. Since, the Vajra were seen as the aggressor bad guys that attacked Frontier and put them in that situation in the first place, I'm sure the average citizen didn't have a problem with it. With regard to the love triangle, again you don't need to understand Japanese culture to get it. It is obvious that all three of them were similar in age since they went to the same school. How is that any different than any other story of love and relationships and what goes on in any American high school setting.

    That's more like what I was thinking. If she did have a relationship with someone, they would keep it a secret and deny it. It reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer was in a barbershop quartet. The manager was convincing Homer to say he was single because "many women will want to have sex with you, and we want them to think they can. Homer replies, "Well, if I explain it to Marge THAT way, I'm sure she'll understand."

    True. Still, it would have been nice to get swappable weapons. I mean I would like to have one of each, but I only bought one standard version, and I have no intention of getting other versions. I suppose there are some that will feel compelled to get one or more of each. But, I think they might be inclined to get more than 1 anyway.

    That seems very strange and makes no sense to me. 1)could they really stop her from having a relationship and 2)I think it would be worse on her mental stability to be forbidden to have a romantic relationship until after she's 30. I can understand if someone is underage, but I can't wrap my head around this until 30 business.

    Cool. The Doyusha diecast valks are 70% off. They've always been overpriced IMO, but they are definitely worth it at 70% off. Edit: Also, I can't remember if HLJ combines shipping or do they simply add on whatever the shipping cost is for each item. Anyone?

    I see what you did there. It would have been hilarious if you spliced in a shot of Ralph Wiggum between the Ranka pics. Pretty much, Alto is the main hero so he gets the glory. I just chalked it up to last minute "my valk is destroyed and I need a new one ASAP" And, I figured Ozma didn't want to change from something he knows well right before a major battle. Edit: Wait a sec. Now I get it. They had the "007" marked on it since they first showed it in the hanger way before, so it was already slated for Alto from the beginning. Yeah, that doesn't make much sense to me.

    Yup, thanks to the tips on this thread I am now watching it with a much smoother and bigger picture. For some reason the DECAY raw runs on my VLC player, but the Commie just has a blank screen but with sound. Even Surf Wilder has to catch some waves every once in a while. Yeah, it was cheesy, but I think Macross always had a bit of cheese factor in it to make it fun.

    OK, I just got in my copy of Newtype Ace vol. 1. My first reaction is that it's pretty thin. NOT! WTF! They could have split that up into at least 2 different mangas. Times must really be tough for publishing for them to have to cram THAT much into one book. I think I'm done with these. I'll get the M: The 1st books as they are released. It's a shame though. I thought Macross Ace was really cool.

    I thought the Vajra were being manipulated and controlled. Besides humans are the ones that are invading their territory and home. We would react the same way if they were heading towards Earth.

    I'm beginning to feel the same way. I'm having a hard time convincing myself to spend the money each month on something not completely Macross. I may just get the M: The First volumes as they come out.

    I noticed they had it, but unfortunately Vol 1 is sold out. I was able to get a copy directly from another bookstore by e-mailing them. I need to keep a better watch for it in the future so I won't miss the boat.

    hehe I am having trouble finding this to order. Seems like the sellers on Amazaon.co.jp won't ship internationally. My other usual sources don't seem to have it listed. Would you have the ISBN number? Maybe I can set up a subscription with my local Japanese bookstore, although it is kind of small. They don't carry much manga/anime related items.

    Has there been any word on the continuation of M:The First? It seems like the next installment should be coming up, but I haven't seen anything about when exactly? Edit:actually I meant to refer to the individual installments that used to be in Macross Ace.

    I also wonder how they are going to incorporate Hadley's Hope since I would have assumed it got destroyed in Aliens. Maybe they will have the events of Aliens, and then go beyond in the game. Story aside, this looks like it will be an awesome game.
