KK What a way to come back after your time away from us. I have the exact same pictures from siebertron my self along with many stills etc. After my super posable 1/55 (shamless plug) I was intending to tackle a scratch built Skyfire in 1/55. My brothers department at work has just got one of those fdm machines. I have already asked about him making me bits. They are expensive to run but he says he can slip small bits in on bigger jobs from time to time. By small he means couple of inches square. When the time comes I may take him up on the offer. Am I to presumptuous to expect a casting or two to be made from your work ? I`d happily give you a few bucks to see it done and a few more for a recast.

Shame Lik-Sang have always done good for me. They will probably spring up as something else. Sony loves bad press nothing spreads better than bad news and what better than free news when your about to launch you new product. I was in Tokyo when the psp launched and remember the queing and such. There were loads of people buying up handfulls of them including many Chinese and Europeans. I bought one just because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. A few weeks later Sony slapped some kind of order on retailers to stop them selling to foreigners. I got asked for my Id`s when I went to get one for a friend. Lucky I speak enough to get me by. I told him I was a teacher of English, one psp in the bag thankyou. I expect this is something of the same, a bit of corparate Sabre rattling and nothing bad will come of it. I also agree Nintendo can be just as bad ( I worked for them about 10 years ago) some of their practaces are a bit sketchy to say the least.

Good idea

May be Hasegawa is saving all its plastic for a SDF1 kit.
-
Yeah like it only took a couple of mins to make great work as always
-
Thanks that means a lot comming from one of the 1/55 gods. Gotta clean up my workspace and then its back to moding, torso is next on my list.

OOO weee got to get one of them. seriously eBay need to add a filtered search option to not list any auction that has RARE in the title. Most of them are far from rare.
-
Would be nice to see it done. But dont forget a certain 1/72 Monster making member here is planning on making an SDF1

Ok without further adoo here is my progress, as I said before I have not had the time to do as much as I would have liked. The shoulder, I now have a fully assembled and working sholder and forearm as per my idea in the pictures you can make out the parts that were filled and paded out. The shoulder itself is fully working and can rotate and move just like a real sholder can It is very strong and should have no problems holding a gun and the weight of FP armor or Minmay. I have bleneded in the new parts to continue the original shamfer lines on the edges of the parts. This gives it a more factory feel IMO. The actual shoulder itself has not had its seams and screw holes finished yet but once I have the rest of the chest area made these will be made off. I have been taking some measurements for the chest area but these dont make very interesting readng so I `ll post pictures when there something to see. [attachmentid=37334] You can se the slight dimples in the plastic of the shoulder these are where the screws pull from the otherside they will be banished in final completion. There is also a slight wiggle in the pannel lines, these too will be fixed. [attachmentid=37335] You can see the unevenness of the bootleg parts here much sanding and filling will be required to get rid of these, the edge of the arm looks more Yamato or Hasegawa now though. [attachmentid=37338] You can get a good look at the end of the elbow here and my filler to cover over the slider mechanisum with a sploge of MR Putty still to be smoothed. [attachmentid=37339] A good look at the wrist end to see the plate where the hands will be attached as soon as I buy em. The forearms, after my cock up all is now well and the almost finished forearms are great. [attachmentid=37336] As you can see there is a slight hole on the end this has now been sorted and you can also make out the different types of plastic on the elbow bit even though they are perfectly smooth. [attachmentid=37337] The hole is visable here too and the discouring is the Mr Putty used to help level things out. The slider was filled with Tamiya standard putty and smoothed off with Mr Putty, the Pannel line was re cut using my exacto saw. The whole shooting match put together. [attachmentid=37340] A bit blurred but you get the idea. Thats all for now.

big F replied to Less than Super Ostrich's topic in Model kits
God greif no wonder the p+P is higher than a normal Hasgawa kit -
Its good to see this sort of thing I wonder if others would do a similar thing I for one would love to see WM Chengs earlier attempts or maybe HWR`s first tank kit.

Thats basically what I thought when I first saw them. Should have done it when I did the feet on my Super posable. But then how much would you not be able to tell as they spend 99.9% of the time being stood on. Much better for a toy as at least you can see them every once in a while.
-
Oh thank God I thought that you meant X-files 2 the movie. I wouldnt want to wish that on anyone
-
I use all of the above but mostly just use heavily thinned out Tamiya paint and a fine brush and capillary action.
-
They do have a large ammount of kits. Has anyone bought stuff from them. whats the quality like and sales service etc

I second that.

The 1/72 Glaug recasts sometimes show up on eBlag. But youre probably better off waiting for the Captain to reissue as his is better than any previously made plastic or resin. (I want one)

I have lost the link to the Fulcy mod (dam!!!) The mods pictured above is somewhat similar to the one I have done (it gave me the ideas) I have put the ball joint in the middle but the movement is only slightly more than stock as I posted eairlier. I did try and work a way to put it above the whole foot assembly but couldnt find a way. This is something I will have to come back to. Also I will try and locate the fulcy mod it may be on a back up image of our works server. when I get chance I`ll look and post.

Wow !! I must get together with you some time to talk about your techniques for molding Styrene and PVC.
