  1. Lets face it nowadays unless it`s top notch it gets panned. We are so used to really good special effects and glitzy storylines, anything thats not gets noticed for its short commings and forgotten for its good bits. War of the Worlds got panned in the U.K but Cinematically it was good old fasioned cinema adventure. Probably didnt help that it was told from the American point of view and not following the original novel. That said I still love it. Give it a chance guys before we have a dvd burning.

With that in mind its a shame the Captain had all that grief when he made the VF-1D conversion kit. Otherwise he may have well gone onto a Super O or Elint kit by now then the Yamato VF-1 line would be complete. But there is still a demand for them in 1/55 as nobody has made anything like it save a few model kits and Gashapons. That I suppose is why the re-casters do so well.
  3. How about this for an idea.. The kind of custom work you did in the past obviously takes up time. So maybe next time someone wants something custom, they draw it out themselves. The way I see it may be you could save as a jpg or what ever a blank version of each of the general sets. I mean like 1/48 1/55 1/60 1/72 these would be a lower than production quality image but on a white or other neutral color backdround. They would be enough to make your custom from. Then the customiser could do the changes he/she wanted and then forward them back for printing at a higher and obviously better quality. Any custom unit insignias could be sent in too at good resolutions. It wouldnt take so much then to transfer the idea to a proper vector drawing. If it was just a simple recolor then even easier. Im not trying to make more work for you but also I understand how lust letitng go of the originals would be detrimental to business and your work. Just an idea I think that could be popular with the Airforce guys who like to make Valks with their units i.d`s on etc. Maybe we could come across another fan made decal set that hits it big on the main Macross kit world.
  4. Sure is Fulcy pointed me there back last year. It`s well worth the look at his site.

Just do what I have done with mine Stash it in a sealed container and put it in storage for the future.
  6. I was just thinking that. G-Saviour was produced in 1999 for the 20th aniversary on computers that are like pocket calculators to what the top animation houses now use. When you look at what people are producing in thier spare time as Fan Fic movies nowadays Its hard to understand why HG couldnt do better. Some fan fic movies I`ve seen recently are as good as the original multimilllion pound/dollar/yen stuff produced by the big HollyWood studios. If you want an idea of what the pinacle of Fan fic looks like just check these out. http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/1024/ May not be all your cup of hot bevarage but you`ll get the idea. Now if only we could get someone to do Macross stuff...........
  7. Thanks for the link I didnt realise there was so much detail you dont see on this kit.
  8. I think it`s the same guy I bought my Minmay Guard decals from they are made by Crazy Modeler and of Hasegawa type standards.
  9. That`s because it was better. They had more than beer money to spend on the Animation. Even if the story was a bit kidified. I just love to watch the Earth blowing up bit. Now if they blow up the earth in RT Shadow whatever then may be that will be agood thing.
  10. A variable bomber sounds cool. Afterall there is some concept artwork arround for such things. On the Vista question So far I have a workstation with RC2 fully updated etc with 1.5 gig of ram and a 2 gig processor and 256 meg graphics card. Installed it on a clean nothing but Vista install and patched it to the lastest HW2 patch. No joy it just bugs out saying it cant validate my disk in the time limit. Put it into compatability mode and no good Tried running the autorun app on the CD and it starts to run and then just flashes a blank screen twice and terminates. the same thing happens with Compatability mode. Tied it without the patch and just got error 15. I dont know what that is. Run it in CM and the same thing happened. So it think its safe to say that this is yet another programme that Vista hates. I can count on one hand the apps that do work on Vista.
  11. Well i just read through this thread for the first time and also looked at thge trailers of the film from various sites. Looks o.k will have to see it when I can. Seeing the RT.com site again reminded me that Due to Robotech (the first time i have ever written it corectly at MW) I got in to Mecha and due to my working at IBM and getting bored on night waiting for the Bank of Japan to finnish their tests I refound Macross ue to RT.com Uptill then I had only eyes for Transformers and Patlabor. I can only hope that it wont suck and that, it will respawn the interest in Macross as well. That would be a great 25th aniversary for Macross. I have higher hope for this than the new Transformers film. At least RT.com is now acknowleging Macross, Last time I went there i got banned from the forums for sayin Macross
  12. All is good provided your not a Turkey or a Cranberry. Happy holiday to all you U.S.A types
  13. Amen to that. If only the T.V in the U.K was entirely Pay per View, it would be the cheapest bill in my house hold.
  14. Try these for size they helped me when I first got back to doing it. I used to do it for a company back in the day but never really took it in as we just made what we weree told and if we messed up we just did it again. http://www.mechaskunk.com/16.htm and http://www.smooth-on.com/howto4.htm If you like I can post some pics of a current in progress that Im doing on a more up your street subject.
  15. Im just interested but how do you do the lines ? Does the VA just read off your script and record it on the pc and then email it to you or is there some other more technical method ?
  16. Awesome work and great photos. What kit is it ? Or is it a scratch build . The Company Crazy Modeler produce some really good stuff. I have several of their sets. The Nizmo decals are made up as far as I know as they are the same as the Macross Zero DVD art. Consider that Crazy modleler make alot of scratch build and made up decals I can probably understand where they got the idea from considering they do make Macross decals.
  17. May be one to consider also is a What we`d like to see. That way if lots of people say thay woul dlike a particualr set made in a size or such then you can get down to it. For example I`d like to see a set of wheite decals for a jet black stealth type vf1 or some pink decals for a girl pilot. You get the idea.
  18. They do look detailed though
  19. That said Future is a bit difficult to find in the U.K. Years ago when I just used it to polish the kitchen floor it was everywhere. Now I want to paint Macross stuff i cant find it anywhere. Which is the best method/s for using it. I have read so many differing ideas on the net I`m not sure now at all.
  20. NICE !!!!
  21. Thats real good news I got my Minmay Guard decals from the seller on eBay today. I go to say they are crisp and every bit as good as the hasegawa ones. you even get a color print of panits and where they all go on photo paper. Unless anyones gonna do it. Im going to see if i can make some for a 1/55. That is unless Devin has a deal going with Nightstalker,
  22. I had though that too. After all everything thats been made is now obselete.
  23. If you start a thread titled SDF1 1/2000 scratch built kit and place some pictures of a pile ofstyrene sheets and some reference art, your bound to get soem interest.
  24. If you want to get one for customising then there are a few of these cheap bootlegs on eBlag at the moment. They usually go for a £5 er at most the quaility is not up with Taka or Bandai but, If your handy with the paint and filler as I know you are you can make Cinderella go to the ball.
