Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures

She looks like she ate a rotten lemon.... -
Actually, Tekkering and I both do. He's correct on the conning tower, VOTL assemblies and Main Cannon Booms. Both of us have been working for quite some time now on accurizing the 1/3000 scale SDF-1 Macross, and are intimately familiar with the correct proportions and alignment of the ship in Fortress and Storm Attacker modes. Those areas could use some major tightening up if they plan on selling this as a product.

Matchbox RT Lisa Hayes.... After I got done with it (Misa Hayase).... -
Hmm.. Gung-Ho in dress uniform might actually work! Thanks for the tip!
-
700mm...that would be roughly about 28 inches, or just over two feet long.
-
So am I, to be honest; some of the RT figs can be ridiculously expensive (particularly Roy Fokker). Going to see if I can find a cheap GI Joe now to convert into Gloval.

Recently, I came across a 3/34 inch Robotech Lisa Hayes figure on Ebay for a really good price: (yes, in package. It was only 10 bucks.) So, after getting this Wednesday, I got to work on her: First, I had to shave down the overall thickness of her arms, legs and torso. Her waist also needed work, as her hips looked too "male" instead of female I also addressed the hair situation: I know it was intended to fit a helmet, but the figure didn't look right: Then I still wasn't happy with the overall look, so I shaved the figure down again. I ended up having to fill in the back where her pack had been: It was at this point that I decided that I wanted the uniformed version of Lisa we usually saw in the show instead of the suit she wore like twice in the entire series. So, to that end, I recut her feet into high heels: I then began the task of sanding her legs down even more, smoothing them out and painting them a flesh tone to match her face: I used some material from a vinyl shower curtain that I sprayed rustoleum white, then attached to her waist. I left a layerd "split" in the back so she could sit and actually move her legs. Masking tape then filled out the details on her uniform coat: The happy couple: Or...maybe I spoke too soon:

Upgrading a classic: yet another custom Bandai/Matchbox 1/3000 SDF-1
pengbuzz replied to tekering's topic in The Workshop!
Yeah, you've got a point there I hadn't considered! I would have to say then that it's the placement of the hinge pin for the angled segment; it's probably too low on the piece, causing it to skew upwards. Let me look at my spare SDF-1 and see if I can work something out. That just may actually be easier! -

That is because the center piece that swings down and forms the top of the torso is too tall. If you look at the side-by side for a moment, where the square end of it ends on the schematics, it begins on the toy (my lines in blue) I took a look at mine on a side profile and snapped a pic; looking at this from the side, you can't really do too much about where the square cut-off on the front begins; that's to clear the main body when it rotates 45 degrees. But one thing that is possible is to cut the top of it off at just above the indented circle, then use heavy sheet styrene to rebuild the top at a much less steep "ramp up". after that, it would be a matter of taking some off the bottom of the removed part that the bridge is attached to, and gluing it into position. Yeah, it would be quite a bit of work; with the fact that you put pins into place for the bridge on yours to change positions, it would be more feasible than trying to retain the sliders on mine ( I might go with your idea for the bridge, to be honest!). But this is the best that I can figure for the ship. That, or we draw up our own blueprints! -
The 'Hey look at this really cool model build I saw' post
pengbuzz replied to Shawn's topic in Model kits
Generally why I try to salvage the older kits; they still have much to offer. -
Perhaps indeed. On another note: I just wanted to post a link to the work of Oiltech Industries in another part of the forum here; his CGI work on the VF-1 has just been outstanding: His fidelity to the original artwork in combo with the realism he's put into his work is truly something to behold! I just wanted you folks to see (if you haven't already) the effort in both research and rendering Oiltech's been doing! He really deserves more credit and attention that he;s been getting lately.

I wonder if anyone ever floated the idea of putting a limited AI like the Ghost inside a VF-19?

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!

Man, I feel for you! You must get home and just want to fall down unconscious on the sofa! -
Ouch. "Sorry Zentran force; I gotta be home in 10 minutes!" Yeah; I guess it never occurred to them that those soldiers would have their own mecha and craft that would be even larger.

I recall the VF-1's operation time in space being quite short due to it's design; the UNS thought most of the war would be fought planet-side (if memory serves). After SW1, they apparently rethought that position given the fighters liek the VF-4. I need to look that up; I thought the VF-4 in MII was the same.

Understood; in my time, I've had to avail myself of less-than suitable office accoutrements myself (I have the same problem, albeit horizontally). Some days, it feels like the world is designed for folks other than you, and no effort was made for any sort of accommodation even near those tolerances!

That's because they put the legs on backwards in Battroid mode; the fins would also be on the back! As for doing the Axoid scheme: I would go with a medium red overall, and use dark red on the ends as shown. BTW: someone tried it with their Axoid kit on Ebay (it's partly built): https://www.ebay.com/itm/384899177592?hash=item599dc75c78:g:e50AAOSw0cVihpgK- 10 replies
