Godzilla Minus One - November 3rd 2023
Big s replied to mikeszekely's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It’s definitely a good movie, my comment was just that it doesn’t look like best of the year material for vfx. But that doesn’t affect its worth as a watch and now that it’s streaming, I think everyone should try and check it out -

Those are pretty bad , but Godzilla wasn’t much better. It had that YouTube fan kinda look to it. But yeah, these aren’t very great. Not sure what else was in competition -
No, I’m really not as into action figures due to lack of space. Boxes away I have the older figure that lets you convert it into a MKII Gundam. I personally like models cause it’s something that really gets me hands on with the designs and feels like a higher value personally due to accomplishing a build.

Yeah, it’s gonna be ugly with a sticker covering the entire part. The decal might be ok, but I have my doubts that it will wrap around all the edges.

I unfortunately don’t think it’s coming with yellow hand guards sine they’re on the sticker and decal sheet, although I don’t think it would really be a pain for Bandai to include extra yellow parts. The main reason they’re not doing the lines kits more often is that the ones they’ve put out are very brittle. I’ve seen those little derpy gundams and they’re often broken or had to be repaired due to breaking. If that’s what this factory is focusing on, they may be trying to refine the material process for better endurance

Even the boat chase, which was a cool scene looks kinda cheap. The real items like the boats and crew are fine, but the cg is pretty bad most of the time, but great for being an extremely low budget film. Godzilla himself has what really looks like a fan film most of the time and as bad as he looks compared to bigger budget films, I still enjoyed this one better than some of the more flashy films. I think the set design is actually really great . That’s what should have won an award. The changes from blown up scenery to more and more cleaned up neighborhoods was what actually looked good. The acing was also far better than previous Godzilla films and blows away the absolutely crappy American Godzilla films. This movie is great, but not for its effects, but for the setting and story and characters I love low budget films and I also love cheesy B movies often more than big budget films. But I’m not gonna say they ever get to what should be Academy Award winning visuals. But like I also said above, I don’t really remember last year’s movies that well and maybe it was just a really bad year for visual effects. -

Yeah, but for the most part the visual effects are rather sub par. It’s still a good movie though, but those effects weren’t anything special. It had a very fan film kinda look. I didn’t hate them, since I know it was on a low budget. I really don’t remember much of last year’s movies, but like I said previously, they must’ve been really bad for this to be the winner in the effects category -

Kinda surprised that there was no talk about this being on Netflix. We just noticed it this afternoon and gave it a watch. US movies really must’ve been crap last year for this to take an Oscar win. But it had about three moments that get you going. The real monster is the unkillable not wife -

Definitely cool -
I knew this was gonna happen. It looks great, but I’ll wait till the official 1S happens, especially since I’m already pretty deep in a backlog

It’s the look of old Detroit or modern Detroit

What does it mean by pre assembly kit? -
WAVE 1/100 VF-1S/A Strike/Super Valkyrie (Battroid & Fighter)
Big s replied to no3Ljm's topic in Model kits
They’re definitely not gonna be a simple build, but not exactly difficult either. Wave kits have a pretty good fit, but often still need some touch es of glue and paint. The seams need some filling since they usually go straight down the middle and I haven’t built the super or strike versions, but I’m pretty sure they need some drilling for attachments. Even the wave Votoms kits require some minor drilling for weapon attachments and I figure these pack probably do as well -

Those look pretty cool, must be when Kratos goes through a time warp and ends up in the future -
That’s because the are in the real world where things get hairy and kinda messy

Lightsabers these days seem better at destroying metal than flesh, so a can opener would be perfect. It would incinerate the top of the can and wouldn’t even cook the tuna. -

Nice and gritty -
Looks like these would make for great customization. Add more armor for a more mecha kinda look or maybe soft goods and some putty to give it more of a character kinda look. Lots of fun ideas could be possible

they’re something like 15 or 20 years old at this point and they aren’t Bandai, so expect more work. Seams on most parts and such -
It’s weird that nobody likes to show off the lower body mobility. The upper is pretty good especially Roth that an crunch, but the legs surprisingly don’t need the help to move around

General 1/18 Scale Figure and Toy Thread
Big s replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think one is more of a general action figure thing while this one is just for the smaller scale one. It’s sorta like we have a Mcfarlane section and a dc Mcfarlane section and a general toys section on top of that.
