  1. That’s a nice display
  2. I didn’t really like most of those characters. They were mostly boring, with the exception of k2so. As long as he’s there to keep the show from being a boring snooze, I’ll watch it
  3. That’s a pretty good example. Now you can show her some of the delta stuff and get her into the whole idol aspect of macross and some of those kits. Then eventually she’ll see a regult and think it’s a super cute walking egg and then she’s hooked. The downside will be that you’re gonna need at least 2 of every kit
  4. Sd kits and toys don’t really do it for me either. I do think they have a roll in increasing the popularity of a franchise. There’s also that whole attempt at trying to get your girlfriend into your hobby, when she’s not into models, so you try something odd like getting her a hello kitty gundam kit and hoping that changes her mind. I guess they can be used as a gateway drug to the hardcore crack that is mecha modeling building
  5. Looks like they included a nice set of hands for once
  6. Nice work on updating that old sdf1. and I have a feeling a lot of the crusher joe projects are due to the recent attention to the franchise by hasegawa. Lots of busy people on here
  7. I think video games aren’t meant to become movies in most cases. You might be able to do something cool with an rpg, but that might work out better for a series. I was trying to imagine how cool a metroid film could be. Either the main character doesn’t talk or just has a generic roboty voice, has to defeat certain enemies and get useful gear until after defeating the final boss. Then a quick after scene of Sami’s lounging in a bikini sipping margaritas. One of the best movies I saw that felt like a video game, but wasn’t was Apocalypto. There are subtitles, but the dialogue doesn’t even matter, visually it tells the whole story and it’s mostly a side scroller
  8. So oddly enough I wanted to just find that scene on YouTube about the Zentraedi factory since you had a comment about their tech and your video was only a few spots down from the top of that search coincidentally. At first I wasn’t sure if it was yours, but those weathering patterns were so distinct. And even though you think the video was dark, I think it really showed off that lighting gimmick. And the magnetic swap out for the missile parts was a really cool addition. I loved hearing that click when the parts went into place
  9. One odd thing from this conflict is that there’s a lot of reference material for what battle damage looks like for model builders
  10. They did sell out pretty well on preorder and if they did an overseas release than many of us here in the U.S. would have a better chance at them and of course the ease of buying from a stateside store would be good advertisement over here for the real deal rather than the Robotech toys
  11. Yay! New kits. Are they up for preorder yet
  12. The 80’s has some great themes. I think more shows these days need them. Modern tv and movie music seems so forgettable
  13. I was totally expecting him to say “super easy, barely an inconvenience”
  14. It reminds me of the more highly animated scenes like in the intro for the show, where even dull colored vehicles look super shiny I love those kinds of scenes and love those paint jobs
  15. Not so much the oil or enamel paint, but the thinner. Even the tamiya panel wash is known to turn some plastics into trash. It’s always a good idea to test the paint mix on some of the sprue just in case. And honestly it’s not just an issue with oils or enamels, but with lacquers and acrylics as well. I remember not too far back that the mg sunanju had to be remade because the abs joints would turn brittle with mr color primer. And That’s just one example of a kit going wrong. I’m just glad that mechtech was able to rescue his kit. I would be totally devastated if I had built an entire mg kit cleaned all those tiny parts only to have the inner frame, that’s supposed to be the toughest part shatter when simply bending a joint. I’ve seen issues with softer plastic melting or even styrene plastics cracking or melting due to various paints as well
  16. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised at all. They just have to replace the rear gun attachments for the missiles. The scout version would be more of a surprise though. On that they’d have to do a lot of changes to the upper body, but I kinda wonder if the kit was designed with that in mind. If I remember the leg and gun parts were on separate runners than the body, so swapping in new ones for new parts might not be difficult
  17. He was a great actor in both big and small roles and in those smaller roles he could easily steal the show
  18. The cool thing about getting multiples is that they gave enough marking decals for an army
  19. Well, it’s about time. I really like this show and I’m curious how that cliffhanger is gonna work out
  20. I think I find your kit on a YouTube channel with the lights and it looked cool. Also liked the magnet gimmick. I’m pretty sure it’s this kit due to the color and weathering patterns
  21. I thought they were built in automated factories, but maybe those factories and designs were made by slave labor. Either way, nice build and would look great on display on it’s own or with other kits
  22. Nice job rescuing that canopy. Mad far as the drill bit, I was using a small pin vice drill with a drill bit that was smaller than the sensor size. I don’t know the exact size, I just went with something smaller because I knew since there were no markings on the back side I had to try to keep even while drilling the rounded dome. I panel lined the outside edge so I would be sure not to go to to far to the sides. After drilling the holes I used a medium needle file to adjust the size and centering. Just make sure not to move too fast so a bit of plastic will be left to hold the clear pieces in place. As long as you do that , you can just put the sensor in to the spot and oddly enough they kinda stay in place on their own until you can put some clear glue on. I held the part upside down and used a bit of thin cement around the edges on the under side of the armor and lightly pressed pressed with the backing of sone tweezers for a couple seconds to set them in place. I don’t mind anyone using my ideas if it helps them and honestly these sensors didn’t take much work to set in. I know some builders really like led lighting and for those, there is actually a lot of space to do that with. Even the leg sensors could probably be lit up as well. I just used a bit of alclad on the backs for a bit of shine on mine though
  23. That’s definitely a cool paint job and well executed effect
  24. So one thing I ran into while glueing the legs along the seam was that you need to be careful not to put too much pressure in the center. Those legs aren’t like Bandai Gundam kits with supports and inner frames to hold things up. While squeezing the joints together it can cause the outer edge when the seam line is to open up instead of close. So I would suggest pinching closer to the edges while being careful not to touch the glue
