  1. That’s one thing that really sucks about real world modeling in competition. People get so nitpicky about everything while in the sci fi category someone could just snap a gundam kit together and it has a chance of winning or at least placing if they just put decals on it. There are more people that put mods into their gundams though lately and sometimes those really do get recognized, but at least there’s nobody trying to say that panel line wasn’t in the anime
  2. Modern mecha is all about random junk. The old school stuff was mostly focused on elegant design. Of course there are and always were rule breakers.
  3. I personally am not a fan of the new designs, but I could see how someone unfamiliar would be interested in these. While someone unfamiliar with the tread, would instantly skip it. It’s one of those designs that appeals more to the diehard fan rather than the casual
  4. I don’t think he meant to do it to be rude or to call out any individuals. More as a friendly warning to be cautious and not to cross a line between collector and hoarder
  5. Probably worried it might not sell.
  6. A good set of concert seats and the experience it brings to you and your guests can be worth more than an expensive toy in a box in another box. Have more fun and careful not to overdo the collections. Those shared memories will last longer than plastic
  7. Halo was so bad I forgot to finish it before they pulled the rest of season one off Amazon
  8. Non paint with hg kits usually will leave some things discolored. Most rg kits are pretty good for the lazy. No seams on them and colored parts are already in the right spots. But the hg kits are getting better and better for less and less work. I was recently building the psycho doga hg kit and was surprised that the rifle had no seam lines. The only seam lines are on the lower legs, but those parts were leftover from the old hg geara doga kit. One of the biggest issues with gundam kits in hg are that certain parts are not molded in the right colors, but if you don’t feel like going all out, there are often gundam markers in common gundam colors to fill in those spots. As far as seam filling, you can try the sprue goo method to make your own glue/ putty that will be extremely close to the plastic color since you’re using the actual plastic to fill the gap. It can end up slightly lighter than the base color, but may not be noticeable at all. Just gotta have a few sanding tools, an empty clean small jar and some type of clear cement or something to dissolve plastic from the runners. Nub marks can be an issue as well. To avoid miscoloring the plastic, make sure not to cut too close right away. Then you can sand or file the nub away after. With more practice you can learn how to cut closer to give even less of a nub to clean up. Glass files are pretty good for removing the nubs smoothly without damaging the surrounding plastic and are really inexpensive as far as the panel lining in the article above, they do make pour type panel lining markers now as well that are easy to use. There are other methods like oil pin washes or acrylics, but may need a clear topcoat before use.
  9. Definitely. It’s like a bad experiment with mostly bad results. They should also ditch the cheap looking metallics on the figures
  10. I don’t think it’s even good enough. At least with Macross being more popular than Mospeada and Southern Cross, I’m pretty sure there’s gonna be more options sooner than later
  11. Little guy comes fully equipped. That’s a heck of a third leg. And then it has attachments for the guys as well and a fan to cool you off when it’s all over
  12. Wasn’t there a Gundam crossover animated short with Hello Kitty. I don’t remember half the Sanrio characters dying off, so Tomino probably wasn’t involved. Bandai was probably all jazzed up about the project until someone mentioned it to Tomino. After hearing his pitch, they decided not to invite him to any more meetings regarding the subject
  13. Definitely with you on the all at once thing. I also hate the long wait for just a few episodes of Invincible.
  14. Reminds me of a quiet place. Hopefully the scene where they get fed up and go on the attack happens in the first half of the movie to set it aside from all the other horror movies like this.
  15. I was thinking the same thing Definitely need to dial back on the hair and the glasses are ridiculous as well. Honestly, I think they failed all around. I don’t think they really got the face right either, but everything else is so distracting that it’s hard to tell
  16. I remember in early/mid 90’s watching og Dragon Ball and eventually the American edits of Dragon Ball Z. It was a weekend thing that my brother and I had to wake up extra early for on a non school day. When Saturday morning cartoons started to kinda suck all of a sudden Toriyama’s creations were there to fill a gap
  17. To be fair, they give two Dana’s, which is a better option anyway. As far as the Zentraedi figure, I could completely care less about the Regult. I do wish they would ditch the add on armor and made a better sculpted action figure. This one’s a bit chunky in odd spots It may be the easiest option, but they seem to like the most complicated option
  18. I doubt that. They made the regult to open up and the pilot is way too thick not to have joints. It’s probably gonna be one of those figures with a cloth body suit and armor around it. Otherwise the armor around the arms and legs would be much tighter and especially around the elbows
  19. Can’t wait to see how this turns out. It looks like a very interesting kit.
  20. I’ve done rewatches of older cartoons like GI Joe, Transformers, Thundercats, D&D, the old TMNT and a few others, but I’m really really let down by the quality of X-Men. It’s maybe the only rewatch I’ve done that has let me down this bad. This show probably should’ve been left in the mind of nostalgia. There’s also quite a bit of character introductions that they just didn’t care about and someone will say something about how difficult it was to defeat them the first time, but they never show the first time. You kinda have to have read the comics back then as well as watch the show to get what they’re referring to. I even rewatched Pride of the X-Men and that’s the one that deserved a continuation. The animation was better and the dialogue was less cheesy. The biggest complaint on that one was Australian Wolverine. Other than that, it’s far better than the series. I do think they should’ve just done a brand new show altogether with quality animation and voice actors with some good writing and the intent on doing more than a few seasons.
