Valkyrire mode? Lol. As far as remember they never used the name Valkyrie in Robotech, at less in the TV series in the 80s. In general they were referd as Varitechs. In Mexico we got Guardian (gerealk) and Bateloid (batrroid). For fighter mode I don't recall at the moment.

@derex3592 yeah sometimes I lose a decal or it rips when adjusting the orientation on the surface of the kit. Par for the course I suppose. I like the idea of anime accurate. lol. I did leave off decals on the ARII Zentreadi flagship model I built because of the anime reference I was using. I think it came out fine without. Honestly best part of that kit is the tiny SDF @pengbuzz love the ingenuity! I will keep this in mind for future builds. 👍

I was thinking the same thing when I first read this. This is the closest we've been to getting anything like a G1 Jetfire again since the 1980s.
-
The arms and fuselage are ok, but those legs. The only explanation for that, that I can contemplate, is that it is some sort of test bed/interim design between the VF-1 and VF-4.

I've found leaving old decals in moderately hot water for 6-8 hours can rescue them. Then it's just a case of sliding them onto used decal paper from a fresher kit and mixing a solution of white glue and water to adhere them to the model (did that for a couple of kits recently).

@Papa Rat - I would be cautious of using decal softner on older 80's kit decals. Sometimes the chemistry of that stuff has a funny way of melting/ruining decals, even newer ones! Recommend you ALWAYS test it first on a spare decal you aren't going to be using on the kit if possible. I'm actually shocked you get water slides that old to come off the backing paper. My scout ship's decals were DOA on my kit, but hey, it's more anime accurate without them I suppose.

Since Toynami has been trying to build this thing since the early 2000s and kept getting denied, I strongly suspect the diecast will be diecast as it is on the takas.

Didn`t expect this, I was hoping for Bandai to reissue the DYRL VFs last year but nothing. My concern with those are QC.

Thanks so much for the insight, I really appreciate it! I will give it a go once I get that Softer.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
Seto Kaiba replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
Modern military drone aircraft like the MQ-1 Predator or RQ-4 Global Hawk are remotely controlled in the most conventional sense. The plane has little-to-no autonomous function and virtually all aspects of flight are radio controlled from the ground by a crew of ~3 people (a pilot, a sensor operator, and a mission controller). Military-use drone aircraft in Macross are mostly computer-controlled. Rather than having a ground crew managing every aspect of the aircraft by remote control, most aspects of the drone's operation are instead managed by an onboard AI control system. By law, most unmanned fighters are restricted to semi-autonomous AI control. There is still some guidance and control provided by a ground crew in terms of identifying destinations, routes, mission parameters, target categories, permission to engage, etc. Some heavily restricted types are fully-autonomous, able to continue operating without human intervention or direction should control be cut off (or never received). In this case, though... I think what they're referring to is that the Cheyenne II's are being plugged into the ship's own air defense network and operating as an unmanned gun turret like a Phalanx CIWS. Feeding them target criteria and otherwise letting the onboard radar and control computers do all the heavy lifting. -
Depends on how heavily your topcoat was applied. 🤔 The softer may still be effective. It's intended to meld the decals to painted surfaces, and certainly takes away some of that surface shine... but not as effectively as a flat matte topcoat will. 👍

The remaster Blu-Ray wasn't much of a hit IMO. So asides the Armour and 51's, I doubt the rest. It's also likely most of Bandai's resources now are focused on whatever merch they can pump out of the upcoming new series.

Curious. Is the white plastic the same as the 0S?
