Marvel Studios Fantastic Four: First Steps
Big s replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Finally saw it now that it’s on D+. I liked it, but kinda suffered from not having a beginning and showing us all this cool stuff that kinda happened before this situation. Although they didn’t do it as badly as Superman. I kinda liked that one as well, but Superman jumps right into the middle of a story where everything already happened including stuff with the badguys, where this one just skips their introduction and world setting adventures, but does do better at delivering a more complete story. It’s not like totally being dumped in the middle of what’s going on, so we do get what kinda feels a bit like watching a sequel to a movie. Superman felt like the end of a series of films that you never saw the beginning to or the middle and it’s kinda the last one. less humor in Fantastic Four and feels more grounded and less goofy, but it does have its fun bits throughout and definitely more heart than Superman. I’d say it feels a bit more on track with who these characters have always been and kinda feels right even with the female Silver Surfer. While I’d prefer to have had the original, she didn’t seem out of place and was pretty cool here. I think the only thing to really complain about is the cg is a bit cheap looking and the lack of a first movie, but for what it is I had more fun with this than Superman or even Thunderbolts which did the crime of not having a good ending. And I’d sorta really like to see the rest of the mcu end and just reboot in the more interesting retro futuristic world of Fantastic Four. I’d love for the upcoming X-Men to be in this universe and not some other random one.- 135 replies

ThreeZero ROBOTECH (Macross) Toys

I noticed on the photos of the super parts that they are using a 1S with a Rick/Hikaru pilot figure. I think they said the parts are to be separate but I’m wondering if they are going to release a bundle set with Rick as the 1S pilot. Haven’t seen or heard any confirmation on a bundle yet. - Today

I was surprised too about the mark down at launch. Even though it’s pretty bare in terms of accessories,, it’s still a great toy. The range of articulation and the poses it can make is impressive and the flat red hue they chose makes it easily stand out on my display case. The addition of a sound booster will make this toy even more unique. Maybe if you crack it open and play with it, you’ll feel less remorse about buying it?

Wasn’t Max supposed to come out at the same time? -
^THIS. Or Double Zeta, Mk.II, an Akatsuki, Legend, maybe SRW Alteisen, R-1/2/3, Huckenbein or Mazinkaiser Infinity to round out the Mazinger trio would be all welcomed. Absolute meh on Gundam Barbatos. Frankly speaking, IBO is a terrible entry in the franchise and the Gundam designs are all ugly to me. Saving quite a bit with MB at the moment as 1.5, God Gundam, Phantaci and the Barbatos all don't tickle my fancy. On the bright side, there is a MB Nirvash in the pipeline. Bandai better pack some pilot figures for this and not pull off the same stingy crap show like with the Code Geass stuff. https://hobby.dengeki.com/news/2804746/

Dayan started following DX VF-1S Roy Armored Valkyrie and Bandai 1/60 DX Chogokin Macross 7 Fire Valkyrie

I've actually still got mine in the box... Going through a bit of buyers remorse actually for the first time with a DX. I had mine reserved at Joshin here and was happy to be able to use a 5% off bday coupon, but looking at what you get with this (very bare bones) versus the Focker Armored that is the VF-1 plus armor parts for just a couple thousand yen more and I really feel like Bandai randomly price gouged with this release. Then I note that stock is overflowing and you can get it for 30% off from 3rd party resellers already on Amazon JP. While Delta releases tend to sit on the shelf longer than Plus or SDF versions, I am surprised that 7's DX wouldn't be popular... Then again seeing how much HM-R stock is sitting around, I should have known. Regardless, price gouging aside, Wotofa is calling it the best version, and I don't have any of the Yamaoto's, so at least I can say I have one for the collection. Now to wait for the inevitable PreBan release of the sound boosters....

I'm actually pretty excited by this release, can't wait to get it. I feel like there is much more value in this than all the Delta releases.... Thankfully I still had status on Tamashi Web so didn't have to deal with the lottery, but I expect this will be marked high on the after market here in Japan because VF-1s are always a hot commodity.

Macross delta Novel Volume 2 Translation.
Seto Kaiba replied to Captain Global's topic in Movies and TV Series
Machine translation has clearly made some progress in recent years. There's not nearly as much "my hovercraft is full of eels" in this as an attempt a few years ago would've had. That said, I kind of feel like Kodachi is reaching way too hard to try to make connections to other Macross works in this one. -
As it should be, as much of the story is told from the creature's perspective, an uncharacteristically cynical and sympathetic POV that points out man's inhumanity towards others, especially those who are different regardless of their potentially intelligent and kind natures. The creature ironically becomes a monster by learning from his creator and those who would harm or kill him for being different. Joseph Merrick is a real-world example, although his intelligence and kindness were eventually recognized and he was treated kindly for a few years prior to his untimely death. Unlike Shelley's creature, Merrick, despite a life of adversity and mistreatment, seemed to bear no grudges.

There's a parallel universe out there where Delta was a good show and band released all 5 sets of supers.

I’m just curious about the line up. Sh is definitely better by far, but Bandai is notorious for skipping characters. Although I’d still buy the Sh ones that do come out and maybe fill the gaps in with Hasbro since they’ve usually easy to find

...speaking of having a lunch eaten... Not sure how I feel about it. P2 Wolverine is cool and all but the third SHF figure after Spiderman is Wolverine. Not sure I want to have another Hasbro if SHF are looking like they to do it better.
