  2. Placed an order with Kappa this morning with no issues.
  3. Hey, all, finally back in the US and puttering around on this once more. I did some boring cleaning up of bad geometry and recalculating normals, but the more interesting thing (to me, anyway) is that I've started prototyping head ideas. These are just quick concepts I'm throwing together from bits and pieces to see if anything promising emerges. Standard 25A on the bottom for reference, with the 31A just above. First idea was just to squash the 25 head to be less of a football shape and add some armor, next above that is something loosely based on one of the Halo Spartan helmets to follow on the "heavy brow" concept, and the last one on top (which I'm kind of liking so far) is derived from the Nousjadeul-Ger head to take things in a more Zentradi direction. I'll probably keep bashing some more concepts like these together for awhile and haven't settled on a solid direction yet, so feedback, suggestions, ideas all welcome,
  4. If anyone wants to grab a VF-31A cheap, 25,000 yen from the SAHRA store. Bandai DX Chogokin VF-31A Kairos General Type | Mandarake Online Shop
  5. I'd be the last to disagree; however, as in the case of the absolutely terrible Eragon film based on Chris Paolini's novel, all too often writers, directors, producers, studios, etc want to deviate from the good written sources and put their own spins, generally to the detriment of the resultant films/tv shows. Not always, but I'd say more often than not. I don't understand why you'd option a popular or award-winning book and then make serious changes to the narrative, to characters, etc such that the final film/show can only be considered as "loosely based" due to the myriad changes. When the source is well-regarded and recognized as such, I'd rather the production stick to it as much as possible when translating it into film or show. To your point, though, there are many, many pieces of literature across various genre which deserve translations into some other form of audio/visual media. It just takes the right people with the love of the material and the vision to carry out those translations.
  6. It does work with Chuck's 31e, but there are parts that will need to be colour corrected to match. Bandai is not going to even bother to re-release the finishing add on sets for the remaining 31 series as they love to half finish a complete series (except Frontier for the renewal line),
  7. After the most recent episode, it really f***ing does. Actually, it's kind of weird that we've got a couple different titles this season that have plots revolving around a female lead who is essentially a helpless crybaby who needs to have everything done for her. Maybe it just feels extra weird to me since my weekly watch group has been doing Tenchi Muyo!'s OVA timeline, where (as the punny title suggests) the men are "useless" and the women run everything.
  8. Tried the first two episodes of the new season of One Punch Man and yeah, I'm out, I can't, I'll stick to the manga. That first season was an anomaly and we all knew it, One Punch Man was never destined for a full anime series to cover the whole thing, it's just not gonna work, not even because of the massive quality gap from season 1 to 2 and 3, and but just 2 and 3 in general just look awful without comparisons, it's just bad.
  9. I saw it in IMAX Saturday night and I really enjoyed it overall. Works better as a generic sci-fi action movie with an alien as the focus, rather weak Predator movie IMO, but it was enjoyable overall, action packed, violent, not bad. Not really the direction I'd like to see the franchise go overall, but clearly Disney is looking to hit on multiple fronts, some R rated stuff, some PG-13, some live action, some animated, I'm okay with all of it as long as it doesn't drop to the quality of The Predator or anything like that again.
  10. I don't disagree that Frankenstein is a great story however there is many many more books (manga included) sitting on shelves that deserve a look at for a fresh new movie too. And the audience wants that.
  11. TBF, it's a great story if writers/directors stick to Mary Shelley's narrative instead of interpolating their own ideas, changing endings, or otherwise change things that make the creature and his relationship to his creator so engaging in the first place. There's a reason the story has endured- Mary wrote a bestseller that continues to enthrall to this day. I may have to give my copy a reread, as it's been a while since I read it last. Anyway, I haven't watched it yet, but I've been anticipating it, as it looked to follow Shelley's story closely, at least judging by the trailers. I hope it doesn't disappoint on that front (haven't read any spoilers).
  12. Mild spoilers, but also very funny:
  13. I am in for a Metal Build Barbatos, depending on the price point and options they include. If the release includes the various armor and weapons to make 1st thru 4th form I am more likely to spend $300 versus just one of the forms.
  14. I'll just say it, GDT is an over-hyped director. He has good ideas with pretty cinematic shots but his films don't deliver like they should. Also, Frankenstein... again? Hollywood should have stopped at Young Frankenstein.
  15. Yeah, Nin Nin Games reopened their pre orders too at their original price so I was able to get one there.
  16. Haha, I bailed out of Frankenstein after half the runtime. There were some beautiful shots and memorable scenes, like the demonstration you mentioned, but these were outweighted by the issues I had by then. The way the narration was presented, it never dragged me into the movie. Scenes felt disjointed as if shot by different directors, the character interactions couldn't have been worse if they werd directed by George Lucas, the music was off, and the cinematography and VFX were all over the place – the introduction in the polar circle felt like it was shot entirely in Unreal Engine. This should have been a homerun for GDT, so I'm still puzzled what went wrong.
  17. There was a clear note on ami's english-site regarding their non-japan PO opening 11/10 11am JST. at any rate, HLJ's po is open again, but you cannot cancel it anymore per their new cancellation-policy https://www.hlj.com/dx-chogokin-vf-31a-kairos-macross-delta-10th-anniv-banc723086
  18. I thought amiami was already sold out earlier. Were they really just that late to open for PO?
  19. Was just wrestling with my armored AX. Honestly was a lot of suffering that I wouldn't bother going through with on more than just the one unit I own, even if another was given to me for free lol I'd rather they finish up those supers, or released sets of those double missiles that work with or without the super's shields. Or as far as pipe dreams go, replace the wing hinges on this and any future 31 releases with the AX hinges with hard points, so Lil Drakens can be slapped on without funny adapters, even if the position is kind of off.
  20. some macross-fan at bluesky with her SDF-1 reissue...
