Hey @MKT thanks for your kind words! I am just bitter missing out on the 1/60 😁

Thanks very much for your input @Chronocidal @treatment. For now I sent an urgent reply to Mr.K’s latest post on X wondering if he could come to the rescue, as per your suggestion. The worst outcome is me out $300 cad having to buy a regular version on Mandarake just for the left arm, and what an expensive arm that is!🤯 In the meantime I managed to disassemble it entirely. Luckily the two screw covers came off easy, perhaps someone at the factory was being stingy with glue that day (thank you). The two halves of the lower arms is NOT glued either so you just wiggle jiggle carefully pry it apart. The pain in the butt however was to knock the pin out as you see its teeth on both ends of it. Some collateral damage was inevitable but it’s contained on the broken bit. With the pin finally out, the bicep armour slides out completely, the metal slider separated undoing one screw, and it is pretty much ready for donor parts. PF? More like Explosive Finish, you got yourself a really nicely detailed anime accurate transforming time bomb. That being said, I suggest everyone to push the metal sliders from inside the arm rather than pull when you extend for fighter mode.

The annoying thing is that Bandai had invented a way to make the vertical stabilizers removable to address their mistake on painting the squadron numbers (and to make the Angelbirds more desirable). They should have implemented that system on the VT-1 and given us the option to have full size stabilizers or smaller ones.

I suspect they glued the speaker pods on the shoulders to make a DX seem cooler if they choose to issue one.

The Ghost In The Shell - New Anime coming 2026
Chronocidal replied to no3Ljm's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The lumps there I think are from an upscale of the scenes, but I'm thinking more about how the Zentaedi miclones looked. Some of the characters definitely remind me of them. The chief especially is looking back to this older style, which is a pretty big jump from how detailed the characters tended to get in SAC. I think the real kicker will be if the Fuchikoma make cartoony faces.- 33 replies

The Ghost In The Shell - New Anime coming 2026

She’s definitely looking a little lumpy around the chin. that game was fun but flawed. I remember being able to beat it by just staying out of the enemy range. Also remember getting motion sickness when I got my Fuchikoma stuck on a column and pushed forward. The screen went in circles and I forgot which way I was facing- 33 replies

The Ghost In The Shell - New Anime coming 2026
Chronocidal replied to no3Ljm's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm honestly just really looking forward to them pulling from the older manga style characters. The art is looking pretty similar to the cutscenes in the old PS1 GITS game, and it makes me smile. More modern styling of highlights and such, but the characters themselves are making me think of older shows... heck, the greenish hair is halfway giving me Jenius vibes. Actually, looking back at those game cutscenes, a lot of the character art really reminds me of SDFM artwork. The art was kind of rough, partly from the low resolution, but the characters had the same sort of "lumpy" look that many of the side characters in SDFM had.- 33 replies

Yeah, looks they were trying to use the kit to do the old box art justice

Thanks @wm cheng. And yes that figure isn't nearly done yet. Your Zero looks a beaut! Why not try the weathering after the decals?

Incidentally, there are 1/12 scale goblin sets out there that would go along well with my warrior and also the 30 Minutes Sisters line. The sun actually broke through the fog today, so I used the precious window of sunlight to take a couple of pics of my completed 30MM mech: I still have a grip of kits and parts, so I'm gonna put together a more generic/militaristic looking one next.

@Chas Looking good! That tiny Max looks amazing. You should do a panel wash on them! OK, I think I'm finally done the painting! So many little parts all in different shades, it felt more like Lego in the end! Decided to do the wing folding mechanism in that interior yellow/green color like the old WWII Zeros The chrome Alclad is so delicate and fragile that if I leave a fingerprint on it, and try to wipe the finger-print off, it takes the silver off exposing the black gloss coat underneath. I hardly ever use Chrome but it seems to be the most delicate. The other colours like polished aluminum stainless steel or magnesium or dark aluminum seem fine, only the Chrome. It also didn't like the orange clear I put over top (maybe because I used Mr. Color leveling thinner in it and it reacted to the thin chrome underneath). Oh well, I can't really strip it down without damaging more than the fix. I'm learning all the time! It's so much smaller with the finds all folded up! It's crazy how well Bandai engineered their kits but they know nothing about aircraft design or mechanics and unfortunately, the landing gears look like "robot arms" instead of aircraft gears. I've put it next to my previous model of the Cosmo Zero I built over 15yrs ago and this makes that look like spray painted silver instead of real metal. (unfortunately the chrome is so fragile). All that's left is my favourite stage which is decaling. I don't think I will put a weathering wash over top as I don't think the Chrome paint can take anything on top.

I mean this is just classic Bandai (non)logic at work, but I can't even say I'm remotely upset. This is one of those rare cases where their pants-on-head decisions came out in our favor, because all it means is that I had a spare set of shoulders to modify. Very rarely does Bandai's nonsense give us extra things. Doesn't mean I don't still want to slap them for gluing the missile bays shut, but it's not a feature I used that much anyhow, and it's probably just a savings on their end if they didn't have to manufacture those parts. On the other hand, knowing Bandai, I would be rather curious to pry one of the legs open and see if they didn't put the missiles in anyway.

Curious to know if the VF-0S figure is also exactly the same as the 1st release. Speaking of Bandai doing stupid things on purpose... I was playing with my VF-19P and examined closely the shoulders with the speaker pods when I switched to Gerwalk. Bandai copied pretty much everything from the Yamato design except this. They just had to go the extra mile to make 2 pairs of the shoulder armor, attach the speaker pods using a rectangular peg and glue the hell out of it just to piss us off.
-
So you can’t bend the arm well unless you move the armor to the wrong position. That’s kinda stupid

Would've been vastly preferrable for Bandai to have just opted to sell a standalone HMR Ghost that includes the add-ons for the VF-0. Like, say, what the old Yamato did back in the day for the 1/60 Ghost 2200D-A/B. Even better, innovate and include the HMR Reactive Armour alongside with the Ghost as one superb accessory pack! Would make just... so... much... sense! Instead of forcing people to re-buy the same 0S. But Bandai gotta Bandai...

What I really wish was that I could just buy a few spare sets of the normal triple missile sets. They only came with the stand-alone Roy and the Max version, so there's not really much option to give Shin's any alternate loadouts. (Of course that would just mean painting more missile sensors.. ) I do think my favorite aesthetic load now is to put one cluster on the outer mount, and one of the tan underwing pods on the inner. Looks balanced, and gives the wing a fair range of sweep before they collide.
-
Yeah, the way the animation works, the tails just morph into a different shape. The best you could really use to simulate that is adding a collapsing mechanism that varies the sweep. I do wish they'd never caused the issue in the first place, and just used the standard tails for the VT-1/VE-1. Would have saved us all a lot of mental anguish at the physical shenanigans.

Actually that is a fair point, they might be able to more directly support you now. They might not have YF-19 parts, but the part should be the same from a Fire Valk.
