Can't you just use EMS since you're in EU? I thought the Japan Post suspension was just for the US.

Oh, I can use EMS but all EMS packages will be handed over to DHL to be delivered in my country.

Even if this wasn’t the case, all carriers (DHL, FedEx, UPS) have processes in place to make you pay the processing fee and pay the import VAT; there is no escape.

And it will be same in the US. You will get used to your new federal tax and the fees attached to it once all the carriers have processes in place to request the money from you.

The tariff tax will be the same for all carriers, but the actual rates the carriers charge for their services will be different. EMS shipping through the post office is usually much cheaper than DHL, FedEx, and UPS. Even the processing fees are different by carrier. For example, DHL charges an additional $17 duty processing fee on top of the tariff and actually shipping cost on items while FedEx only charges $9.75 + tariff + shipping for items valued under $200. To further complicated things, you get discounts if you have an account with specific carriers.

Oh, I can imagine that it is quite chaotic at the moment but I believe this will all be streamlined once the dust has settled.

I'm just committed to breaking them off entirely on at least one of mine, can you tell if they're glued in as a separate piece, or actually molded together with the shoulders?

If they're molded on, I'm just going to saw them off of the sideways gerwalk set, that looks even dumber to begin with.

Yeesh.. I mean, it's stupid, but I absolutely believe Bandai would cut costs by not making the hinge and missile parts for the legs, since they weren't shown in the animation.

I decided to try to crack off a pair of the Gerwalk shoulders.  It's a little bit more than just a peg holding on there.  One had very little glue and I was able to work it off then trim the nub with sprue clippers and polish down.  The other was kind of a mess.  There's a little bit of a dent.

I mean the VF-19P uses traditional style micro missile ports in the lower legs to launch it's micro missiles, rather than the opening bay door that the VF-19Kai/F/S use. So technically it's correct for the leg doors not to open on the VF-19P HMR.

I was actually quite impressed that Bandai got this detail correct on the VF-19P HMR.

Still haven't watched so never realized that was a thing. Googled around to check. Now it makes sense.

My googling has revealed an old thread on here with an image that proves the gunpod is wrong though. It's supposed to also have a white version of the Kai's speaker launcher rather than the regular gunpod lol

Bandai cost-cutting logic...

  • glue/lock-down leg missile bay option
  • make extra shoulders with fins coz making just the fins movable is WTFBANDAI&#$(&^#&$?!

/facepalm

Having the ports for firing forward doesn't mean the doors shouldn't open to fire outward when the ports aren't usable though.  Those ports are only good for use in fighter mode.

What's always been funny to me is how the YF-29 just went completely overboard on this concept though.  Not only can it fire through the ports or open the doors, but the entire launcher bays rotate.

Speakers might just be a tad too tight. Seems like they twist according to the video posted on previous page of this thread.

Judging by the package contents, it looked like Bandai actually included two separate sets of shoulders with the fins in both positions, rather than make them move.

I'm not going to pretend it makes any sense, but Bandai certainly aren't known for trying that hard either. :p

Correct, it comes with two sets of sholders with fins in both positions.

They don't twist, those are separate shoulder parts.  Believe me, if you twist those things hard enough they're snapping off.

As the Zolan Galactic Whale Patrol Unit are shown using less-lethal, shock rounds from their VF-5000G's gunpods, I always asumed the white Speaker Pod Launcher shown in the VF-19P lineart was also a less-lethal projectile launcher.

A white speaker gunpod wouldn't be too far off from Mylene's.  Guess they don't have an HMR MAXL very far along, if at all, or they could have used that.

The could have just recolored the Speaker Pod from the HMR VF-19 Kai if they had wanted to include it with the VF-19P

Personally, I'm happy they instead gave us a GU-15 gunpod with the HMR VF-19P.

Which also means the next VF-19 HMR variation to be released will likely be a VF-19S or VF-19F.

Yamato missed that detail back in the day, too.  Of course this is just a shrunk version of that but the gunpod did already exist in 1/60 as it does 1/100 now.

I finally got around to opening mine up tonight despite getting it about a month ago. The QC is noticeably worse than on my HMR fire valk, which had tight joints all around (perhaps too tight in some areas).

Not sure if others have the same issue on their 19P, but some of the joints on the left side in battroid mode aren't well toleranced on mine. Gerwalk joint is very loose and floppy. Knee/thigh swivel is also very loose. Knee itself is acceptable, but still quite a bit looser compared to the right knee. The forearm slider, although it clicks and locks in, is very easy to unlock and slide back down when handling the figure. There's also a bit of wiggle play in that forearm even when it's clicked in. I have none of those problems on the right side, either the right arm or right leg. Overall, all the joints on the 19P, even on the right side, feel looser compared to the HMR fire valk out of the box.

Still like the figure a lot though, and hopefully the joint looseness on the left side can be remedied with some floor polish.
