Osaka Mode-fest 2025 featuring Macross

Thanks. Awesome models and displays. Odd though, how that Zentradi command ship was mounted upside down. You'd think the Japanese would get that right, considering Macross is required viewing in all levels of education.

That model was a sloppy, low-rez amateur job painted very poorly.  I wouldn't give it a second thought.

More importantly, what's with all the Valkyries with turquoise canopies? 🤨

Nah, you're thinking of GundamMacross is much more niche, virtually unknown outside the otaku community.

Guess someone was just trying something different. (not that different is always better...)

Oh, right, more than likely Gundam! Still prefer Macross as a primary course, myself.

I rather like the turquoise canopies...

Featured in Macross Mechanics Autumn 2025 Book.  Cool.

So is that the 1/72 Hasegawa regult?

Not a single model sighting, but a slew at Michaels. I usually go in there and see 20 or 30 year old models acting like wallflowers, just desperate for some new modeller to take a chance on them.

So I was surprised when I saw so many Gundam models, some Star Wars such as the 1/32 TIE and the AMT Razor Crest, and some Trek stuff, the /1000 Refit and the /1400 Enterprise-D. Too bad I'm not into Gundam, have a Razor Crest and the Star Trek kits and not much interest in the huge TIE. but maybe someone here will find such a juicy stash at their own Michael's..?

Wow-memories of finding Nichimo and Imai Macross and Mospeada model kits at Sprouse Reitz....those were the days!
Awesome to see kits model kits still in the wild

I think it comes from this.

I ran into Hobby Lobby yesterday to grab some small cheap wood bases and brass rods and on the model isle I was impressed myself with the amount of Bandai Star Wars and Gundam stuff they had. They didn't have that GIANT Tie but ohhh man, if they had, my wife would have been asking me "WTH is THAT?!" when I came back out to the truck! 😂

Oh honey, look, there's a Michaels. You wanted to stop into there, didn't you..?

I’ll take the creepy clown over the weird prayer circles that block the entrance whenever I seem to go to hobby lobby. Just wish there was a Michael’s nearby, I miss that place

It’s unfortunately the closest hobby place near me now. Due to cost of living issues we had to buy a place up in the mountains and although we don’t live super deep in the hills behind San Bernardino, it still takes half an hour to get to the hobby lobby and about an hour to get to Michael’s and depending on traffic, Hobbytown is now almost an hour and a half or more depending on traffic. If I could choose anywhere other than Hobby Lobby, I would . Things were much easier when I lived in Riverside, it felt like everything was only a few minutes away.

Yeah, the real good hobby shops around me are about two hours away, leaving any 'local' being Michaels and then Hobby Lobby about 45 min away.. Oh well, just put your fingers in your ears and rush past them.:D
