My impression from Kickstarter is that the protections lie almost entirely with the company, not the backers. Again, I don't what was stated there prior to the implementation of tariffs. However, what you say could apply to Amazon, yet Amazon policy is/was to honor pricing regardless of tariffs. Unfortunately, their solution is to cancel orders and not state that was why. With KC, I wonder if they might still be responsible for fulfilling the orders, at least legally, as written. Quote

With KC the products were prepared from my understanding through a kickstarter type of program. They would legally be required to honor the prices at the time, although shipping is a different matter. They basically could just cancel outright and refund, or send things out as originally stated from the contract, or they may up charge on shipping. But there’s also the wait it out and see if the situation changes. I don’t know if they added any additional stipulations in the initial orders that may add an extra fee to cover tariffs, since many of the orders were made before that was going to be an issue. I just wish they’d give a clear answer to those that did support them Quote
vladykins Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago With my SDF-1, DHL hit me with the tariff. The tariff is the responsibility of the importer, not the retailer/shipper. Since we're the importers, we'll be responsible for paying it, not KC. Quote

But with these KC orders, they seem to just be stuck in limbo where they aren’t answering if or when things will ship to the U.S. and that’s an extra frustration on top of everything. Quote

Yep- I don't think everyone understands how tariffs work and who pays them. Given I have all the destroids coming from KC, I'm not in a rush for them to send them while the tariffs are around. I'm already paying/paid on the SDF01 and a legios, so I'll be happy to not pay any more. Killing the de minimis exception is a real pain. Quote
jenius Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Hong Kong seems to be handling the tariffs particularly poorly... It can be a real struggle to get things out of HK for some reason. Quote
