Big s Posted November 21 Posted November 21 So sometimes I go back and try watching some of my cartoon favorites from when I was a kid, usually ending up mildly entertained and more often than not let down just a bit. He Man was a bit of a let down while Dungeons And Dragonns was just as good as I remember. But got a bit of a day off due to weather and so I gave a show that I hadn’t really thought much about at try since it was on Amazon without the commercials and was actually really surprised by how good the first episode was compared to my memory of the show. Anyway the show I tried watching and expected to be disappointed by was ALF the animated series. Not the live action or Alf tales. This was an 80’s American cartoon, but dispite that, this was a very high quality for a goofy spin off of a live action sitcom. The humor is still a bit tame, but wasn’t expecting a hardcore thing since it was an 80’s kids show, but I did get some chuckles out of it. But the real treat here was the animation quality, it’s a weird sci fi style with pointlessly stupid silly mechanical designs, but that gets a pass since it’s a kids comedy show. But this is a DIC production that seems to have had a Japanese studio working with them and this first episode was actually really cool. Lots of crazy angles and odd action that almost reminds me of classic Dragon Ball. The story is flimsy, but forgivable for the same reasons as the designs. anyway, I actually hope this cartoon gets a remaster one day to fix the graininess of what they have available on Amazon and I will definitely check out more episodes to see if they hold up to the chaotic and surprisingly Awsomely silly action scenes of the first episode. And just super surprised because I don’t remember the show being anywhere near how fun this rewatch was. Quote

Too much bombast, too much stuff happening too quickly, overdramatically, and unrealistically. They're pure spectacle, and not in a good way in my eyes. So very Hollywood. 😏 Quote

The whole problem is this kid that they need to save that’s Diabetic and they’re trying to get him to a bunker that can only take a bare minimum of people. And then they have to get his insulin and only get enough for a few months, but they’ll have to be locked underground for a few years or maybe more. They’re basically trying to save their own kid that would die anyway and take space away for a different family. Not sure if the sequel ever solves the insulin issue Quote

TangledThorns Posted December 3 Posted December 3 Started watching LAST SAMURAI STANDING on Netflix this week. Really good with outstanding action choreography, highly recommended. Quote
TangledThorns Posted December 12 Posted December 12 Looks like HBO max (aka Paramount+ or Netflix, lol) has some good things in store for 2026! Quote
Thom Posted December 12 Posted December 12 Wow, the only thing that looks interesting, at all, is Lanterns. Quote
Tking22 Posted December 12 Author Posted December 12 Definitely excited for more House of the Dragon, Lanterns, and Dunk and Egg! Finally adapted after years of just being talked about, and it looks pretty good. Quote

Superman wasn’t as terrible as a lot of people say, but it had a lot of problems and Peacemaker was a real let down. Supergirl looks kinda like a meh movie so far. Not really getting a good feeling for this new dcu. Quote
505thAirborne Posted December 15 Posted December 15 LANDMAN Season 2, so far, it's everything you could hope for, great show! Quote
M'Kyuun Posted Tuesday at 07:00 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:00 PM Too funny. The spousal unit and I started watching Foundation, and while it departs from the book in a number of ways, I'm enjoying it. We' started S2 last night. It's definitely spiced up from the far more stoic Asimov storytelling style, and one of the main characters, Salvor Hardin, is a bit of a sci-fi special Mary Sue with her abilities. Still, overall, I'm enjoying it. I wish they'd adapt The Robots of Dawn into a miniseries. I read it when I was around twelve and it has always stayed with me. Seeing how Foundation is being realized, especially with another humaniform robot named Demerzel as a main supporting character, I'd love to see it become an offshoot show. Quote

Someday curiosity may get the better of me, and I may just watch it to see just how bad it truly is. I've watched some sci-fi and horror clunkers in my time so I may suffer it out of boredom, curiosity, or both. Not today, though. Quote

Thom Posted Wednesday at 05:47 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:47 PM Seen some scenes, and yes, jsut a dude in a chair. There are other characters but they are all on-screen, so all you really have is IceT acting face-first into a camera. It's really bad. Quote
