Jefuemon
My favorite band is Galmet, from Osaka. They came to town to do a show last December, and I wanted to do something special for them. So I made this. 1/64 scale Deco-truck. There is a real subculture of guys heavily decorating their trucks in Japan, but it's usually to Enka singers, or Japanese culture. This might be the first death metal related one. All decals were made by me. And the best part? They really liked it!!

CrazyDude
Just a confirmation. I would like to do one thread for all my WIP(Scale, Macross, Gundam and non). I build and paint kits in badges so there will be spurts off high-activity during the various stages. Where would I place such a thread now. MechTech
That build is the PNULTIMATE build - especially in 1/350th scale!!! It looks like a larger scale build. I've gotta say this is one of THE BEST of the BEST!!! - MT
EXO
Well... second best to the best... since that's what penultimate means... For all you 1/60 scale fans... try making one of these! 1:60 model of an Air India Boeing 777-300ER made entirely from manila file folders by Luca Iaconi-Stewart https://www.flickr.com/photos/lucaiaconistewart/sets/72157632208677161/
coronadlux
I saw a coworker build a b52 out of paper clips. Don't know if he has finished it or not, but the turbines spun, and the controls in the cockpit actually moved stuff. Blew me away. I still think the carrier is way "awesomer" Edited April 30, 2014 by coronadlux

anime52k8
Here's something interesting: Build half a kit, then mount it to a wall plaque. that's maybe the second most clever way of finishing a Kit I've seen.
electric indigo
Did you know that Macross kits kind of guest-starred in "Aliens"? http://www.therpf.com/f9/greeblie-identification-needed-aliens-36203/
EXO
Weird. As an Aliens and Macross fan, I can't believe I never noticed that. I keep looking for YouTube tutorials on how to do water dioramas like this... can't seem to find any. There's a ton but not this quality. Not that I do battle ship dioramas... Macross/Robotech also pops up in Star Trek too. Quark's Ferengi phaser is an Invid shock trooper cannon, and a wing from a VF-1 gets embeded in the captain of the Enterprise C's forehead. ultimateone
Here's something interesting: Build half a kit, then mount it to a wall plaque. That reminds me of this, mounting half a plane to a mirror to make it look like it is in flight. I read a how to in Fine Scale a while back, I'll see if I can scan it and post here... EXO
that's an awesome idea! The only bad part is that you'll be staring at your self staring at the model... lol.
Jefuemon
Finally finished!! A 1/32 scale F-4J Phantom II, from Tamiya. Everything is OOB, except for the decals. Wanted this to tie back to Macross a little bit! I actually started this last year, but had to box it up when it got too cold to paint with the window open, as it's too big for my painting booth. wm cheng
Wow! Simply amazing. Congratulations Jefuelmon on that huge build, it turned out beautifully. I always loved the Phantom, especially in those colours. Thanks for pointing me to this thread, I have never even seen it till now - I'm definitely subscribed. I'm honoured to be amongst such talent on these boards here.

Jefuemon
"Real" kits are a bit more of a challenge than building sci-fi. Biggest change I did was that the black walkway access markings on the top sides and wings should be grey, but the after-market decals for that part were total crap, and I wasn't motivated enough to mask and paint (over a year since I started it, I wanted to get done!) It was fun building a 1/32 scale kit, but I honestly like 1/72 the best.

It was fun building a 1/32 scale kit, but I honestly like 1/72 the best. Amen to all this. That Phantom is killer. I have a couple of the Luftwaffe RoG kits on deck in 1/72. I have a 'Nam fujimi kit in SEA camo, but that can wait. If memory serves the Betty in Alien Resurrection had the entire leg of a VF-1 built into it. Macross/Robotech also pops up in Star Trek too. Quark's Ferengi phaser is an Invid shock trooper cannon, and a wing from a VF-1 gets embeded in the captain of the Enterprise C's forehead. I love that movie. Thanks for bringing that up, I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. I'll have to look into the variable cranial implant you write about.
