Chet Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Hello again, VF-1S Hikaru: http://pixel-dan.com/hasbro-reveals-sdcc-exclsuives-for-g-i-joetransformers-my-little-pony-jem-and-marvel-legends/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=hasbro-reveals-sdcc-exclsuives-for-g-i-joetransformers-my-little-pony-jem-and-marvel-legends
Benson13 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Looks like there is no transformation therefore I have zero interest.
Gakken85 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Yeah. Looks like they threw a "Jetfire" paint scheme on an old G.I. Joe plastic jet. Cheesy.
GU-11 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Not sure what to make of it, really. It's a GI Joe jet pretending to be Jetfire, whose G1 toy itself was basically a "borrowed" DYRL VF-1S Hikaru.
Uxi Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Does the Baroness have a Cobra emblem placed in a... strategic... location?
Chronocidal Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 That's... hilarious. It's like Jetfire had a baby with an F-14... which would probably be called aircraft incest to begin with.
Gakken85 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I can't believe they are asking $99 bucks. It's probably 15 bucks worth of plastic.
David Hingtgen Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 $99 is for the entire boxed set of figures of vehicles, not just "Jetfire".
Gakken85 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) $99 is for the entire boxed set of figures of vehicles, not just "Jetfire". I know. I'm taking that into account. haha I heard the collection DX guys talking about how the new hiss tanks felt cheap as hell. Edited June 6, 2013 by Gakken85
anime52k8 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) don't care about skystrikers or anything else G.I. Joe. but HOLLY MOTHER OF CELESTIA! Edited June 6, 2013 by anime52k8
GU-11 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Coupled with the recent Generations offerings, I'm starting to think Hasbro is finally beginning to appreciate the potential of the adult collector market.
Mog Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 ^^If they did, they wouldn't be screwing the pooch so royally with their original Star Wars line.
Gakken85 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 don't care about skystrikers or anything else G.I. Joe. but HOLLY MOTHER OF CELESTIA! Almost looks like a character design in Macross 7
GU-11 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 (edited) ^^If they did, they wouldn't be screwing the pooch so royally with their original Star Wars line. In my defense, I don't collect SW figs and thus have no idea what's going on on that front. So, what's the problem with the SW toys? * edited for typos. Edited June 6, 2013 by GU-11
Mog Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 ^^Distribution's been pretty horrid for the Star Wars lines. Just check your local brick and mortar stores. Chances are you'll only see a bunch of figures from the Phantom Menace wave. . . . . which originally came out well over a YEAR ago. I'd happily purchase figures from the Vintage line, but it's absolutely impossible to find them anywhere, unless you wanna pay a premium through eBay. We're already halfway through 2013, and they haven't released ANY new figures for their main/collector-friendly line. They also killed off the Clone Wars line prematurely without making figures from the later seasons of that series. Generally speaking, unless there's a movie involved, Hasbro's distribution has been atrocious/insulting when it comes to Star Wars, GI Joe, and Transformer lines.
GU-11 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Damn, that's so f#%ked up! And I thought their handling of TFA toys were bad.
Gian Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 don't care about skystrikers or anything else G.I. Joe. but HOLLY MOTHER OF CELESTIA! I'll get that pony for my wife! Nice!
Gakken85 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Oof. Anyway, the Star Warsd black line is out now, yeah? You can preorder a whole case for 100 bucks.
danth Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I think it's kinda cool from a GI Joe collector perspective. From a transforming toy collector perspective, not so much. Actually, we've had so many transformers crossovers like Star Wars Transformers and stuff, but why never a real GI Joe/Transformers toy crossover? I guess there was a transforming Snow Cat but I mean in Joe scale.
Chronocidal Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) Can you imagine a Joe-scaled Transformer? We're talking a 1/18-ish scale vehicle, which is going to be massively expensive, even if it's something like a Volkswagen Beetle. Also, fun as it is to dream, poseable transforming figures get to be increasingly impractical as size goes up. The joint-strength to weight ratio can become a serious issue. VF5SS Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 http://www.hlj.com/product/AOS08691/Sci If you want 1/18 scale there's always this guy
glane21 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Nitpick, but they got the chest colors wrong for Jetfire. The original had black inside a red stripe, the opposite of Hikaru's VF-1S.
anime52k8 Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 http://www.hlj.com/product/AOS08691/Sci If you want 1/18 scale there's always this guy ugh... I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
VF5SS Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?mode=retail&product=HPW10021 the Corvette was pretty ballin'

Cobra Fang, Trubble Bubble, Claw, and Firebat are all pretty small. GI Joe Skyhawk, Silver Mirage, Wolverine, etc. Lots of options. Even the Hiss tank wasn't that big.
Chronocidal Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Well, when I think of what I'd want to see as a transformer, I don't think of the tiny vehicles where over half of the bulk is cockpit, I'm thinking more like the Night Raven, Hurricane, Skystriker, etc. Also, since I'm thinking purely in terms of Joe aircraft I'd want to see, that does make a bit of a difference.
danth Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) My god, a Night Raven transforming into Starscream or something, that would be majestic. And, yes, huge. Definitely something too cool for this world. EDIT: Whoa. Edited June 7, 2013 by danth

EDIT: Whoa. Are you frakking serious?! Is that a joke? My God that'll be the first T-former I'll eagerly purchase since.........FOREVER!
Robowang Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Harmony Gold is now suing Hasbro over the SDCC Jetfire. Shocker!
