Turnig my attention to mankind's unsolved problems:

This is definitely one of those simple looking ideas that makes things appear a thousand times more complex. Great execution and can’t wait to see it on the complete model. And if it goes into competition, I’m sure it will be greatly appreciated by the judges

@wm cheng Here's my J-31, I did a quick build & just wanted to see it in a not-black scheme back in the day. It was way before we got all these nice J-35 pics.

Still the most beautiful past 4th gen fighter that actually flies IMO.

My approach was: paint the fuselage with shading, then spend a whole lot of tape & time to mask the whole body, then spray the light grey borders.

What I would do today: Spray the light grey borders freehand, then mask them with just a few strips of tape, then do the main areas, shade, weather etc. and when you're done there, remove the masks for the edges.

Wow!  The PAAF certainly doesn't have many markings on them - I'm kind of in shock decaling mine (I tripled checked the photo references and they are clean!) since my last model was a 70s Phantom and I couldn't believe how many data stenciling there were!

@wm cheng here you go. Giant decal sheet. VF-1D box for comparison.

My kid decided I should build a plane. Plamax VF-1 it is.

Building with your kid is the best. I got a Gundam wing Entry grade for my kiddo and it’s under the tree. Will be a fun Christmas build.

after rubbing off the plastic with ISO, those plamax stickers adhere pretty well.

That depends, apparently – I have a 1/48 J-10, and every panel has it's own ZIP code.

This is how far we got today.

note:

no airbrush use. Only panel line color, permanent marker for some details and the plamax stickers.

It kinda looks cool so far. It is crazy just how much panel lines can make a kit make look so much better.

Looks great! @Urashiman enjoy this time together!

My son and i have built many HG Gundam kits together, since he was a wee lad. But it's difficult to get his ass to the workbench, now that he's 13 and more of a Gamer

@Bolt yeah… mine wants to play lego games…

@Papa Rat indeed. I learned that from building gundams :)

@Thom not that old… it is the plamax vf-1, which is 3 years old?

I get a chance, I'm going to have to try just "bare plastic" with simple panel lining. Especially since such a thing would make it a lot easier on my lungs! :D

I finally finished that small, 3D-printed Minmay figure my friend gave me a few years ago. The UN Spacy logo is from a set of Macross decals I bought on eBay years back, some of which I'd used on my 1:100 Imai Armored Valk I finished earlier this year. The pattern on her dress is from leftover decals from a Haku Rinpha resin kit from Hasegawa Eggplane Girls series.

She is VERY small, so zooming in with my camera like this is exposing the flaws I cannot see with my naked eyes. Her eyes turned out better than I thought they would.

The new Minmay resin kit that Hasegawa will release this month is almost the same as this figure.

Nice work on her, and that lil Buck Roger’s ship is cool. Really down about the lead actor passing away

Same here; really Liked Gil Gerard. He just seemed to fit the role so well, and the first season was really well done (the second... not so much).

I still remember when I first saw the opening:

On that note: if they're reissuing the Black Hole models, then they need to reissue the Buck Rogers ones as well!

@Urashiman Ah, I got confused between that and the box with the VF-!D. :good:

@SteveTheFish A more mature Min-Mei, still performing live on Megaroud 01 on the far side of the galaxy!

@pengbuzz I can do with some Thunderfighter reissues! I have two currently, one a 'new' kit and the other a prebuilt that could use to be torn down and redone.

I always wanted one, but the prices have been ridiculous over the years. Maybe they'll do a reissue someday and I can jump on it!

Was definitely a great intro. I loved 70’s and 80’s intros, they were always cool and had great music

I can now report ALL major parts of PE are completed for the Texas! The cranes were the last big hurtle!   Also can report all quad 20mm guns are completed...seven parts a piece for those tiny little buggers...and..work now continues on the single 50 cals and more baskets!  Pressing on! (Not pictured, work on the B.U.F.F. continues as well, got the engines built and on the wings this morning)

Man, that's beautiful.  As much as I love 3D-printing, I wish there were more PE upgrade parts available for spacecraft conning towers, antennae, etc.

At the moment, however, I have more Earthbound concerns...

Guess what this metal framework is intended to support?

Hint: it's a 1:48 model.

If you have the design ms, you could try doing home made ones. I’ve seen a few YouTube videos of people making their own

Wait, the hint says 'it's a 1:48 model'

At that scale an SDF-1 model would be 25 Meters long! Somehow I don't thing anyone on these boards is THAT crazy.

Who you calling crazy!? lol yeah I’m a little crazy, guilty as charged.  You have a valid point. That would be huge!!!!

And both the Daedelus and the Prometheus would 10+ meters, so I'm pretty sure they're both out as well.

I'm guessing a Saturn 5 rocket, specifically  The Appolo 11 launch vehicle.

You guys seemed to have missed my other hint, "Earthbound," as in bound to the earth... 😝

It doesn't fly, it doesn't transform, it doesn't move at all.

It does, however, consist of hundreds of laser-cut acrylic panels...

Is it the Nakatomi building from Die Hard? It would be the greatest Christmas decoration ever
