There’s actually a thread somewhere for it, but I never see it. Personally I think a lot of us just see things like that here or in the model section whenever someone posts it in random threads more often than its dedicated thread. Unfortunately things are very complicated for toy collectors and model builders since the majority of our favorite things come from countries that are affected. At least HLJ is ok with holding our stuff in the Private Warehouse, but then there’s the question of how long is this situation gonna last? Will it be months or even years? Things had already been going up in prices and now these new tariffs are probably gonna pump up the prices even more. But hopefully this will kinda blow over soon and things can get back to normal. I got a big backlog already and when my stuff over there finally gets shipped, I’m gonna have an instant backlog boost Quote

Polar Lights 1/1000 TOS Enterprise Space Seed Edition completed. This was a looong build because life interfered over the past year and a half, this kit was old, you can just tell.... it's my least favorite Enterprise design and the fit issues... My goodness. Soooo much putty and sanding to get rid of ALL the seams..thought it would never end... along with other issues that cropped up along the way...stupid clear domes that are now forever rattling around inside the saucer... But anyways!!!... I'm pretty darn happy with the final result. Looks good enough for me to want to display it at work with my other 1/1000 scale ships. Enjoy the pics! Onto the next unfinished kit on the list! 😁 Looks amazing! You have me a little scared for this, its in my stash (although its even older and its the first release without Khan's ship - I wished I got that version) and nothing I hate more than sanding. I think it will continue to be relegated to the back of the stash. But yours looks so good - congrats! So sorry to hear about your burns @pengbuzz - take good care of it. Quote

LocusPocus Posted August 30 Posted August 30 A touch more detail work, battle damage and a few weapons to wield, ready for action! Quote

Been super busy with life stuff, kid back to school etc… but got to get to work on that VE-1. So far only getting a few pieces primed in mahogany and painted. The brown primer gives it a really nice warm shift and I think it will be a great balance with all the cool gray colors when sprayed on top. I have to fix the left thruster “is that what’s it called” since I had glue drip on it when locking it in for assembly and ruined the paint. Ugh… anyway. Getting some putty, some pla plate in the mix. I also cut out the connection for the top thruster pod things so I could attach them after assembly. Soon I will be cruising on this one. I’m getting excited, but still need to find a simple stand for 1:72 scale. The hunt continues. Edited August 30 by Papa Rat Quote
LocusPocus Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Unfortunately, this is next in line… Just now realizing the differences in working pla models. Any suggestions on how to TLC this thing is greatly appreciated! Quote

You'll need to take the time to sand off all those layer lines, especially that rough lip along the chest. 😣 Man, DLP printers are no good for miniatures. 🤨 I hope that didn't cost you much! 😅 Quote

LocusPocus Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Thanks for the feedback, viewing y’alls work is a great motivator for me. There is virtually zero interest in model building locally:( Will keep ya posted on the Ger. It was pretty cheap as evidenced by the extremely shallow detail and it melts readily when worked to much. Slow and steady, tortoise wins the race on this one I’m hoping! Quote
derex3592 Posted August 31 Posted August 31 (edited) Mottling preshading started on the 1/72 Moscato Cat's Eye 👁️. This is as far as I've gotten on this kit in 10+ or so years.... 🤔 🙄. Still deciding on what paint scheme I want to do, kinda want to do something fun and crazy 🤪. Also picked up a Dspiae mini rechargeable electric sander, looked kinda cool for $30.... because I despise sanding... LOL Edited August 31 by derex3592 Quote

pengbuzz Posted August 31 Posted August 31 My current project: (Spoilered in case anyone is squeamish): Spoiler This happened Wednesday night; it took the very top layer of skin off. Thankfully, no blisters (used cool water immediately to keep the heat from continuing to damage the skin for 20 minutes). Urgent care checked it out and it's not infected. Just going to take time to heal; bad news is this is my writing/ drawing hand, and it's right on the wrist. Using Band Aid brand Hydro Sea*l (hydrocolloid) to keep it most, but also giving it "breathing time" so the skin doesn't get macerated (softened due to moisture and no air). Yeah, it hurts. Anyways, I have this under my doctor's care so hopefully it will heal up sooner rather than later. *Was going to use clearcoat but I thought that might sting a bit. Aside from this, not much else going on; money is short (story of my life), so nothing new on the table. May try post-shading/ "post mottling" my cat's eye; it does need a stand so there's that. In other news: cannot find my 1/72 Tomcat models that ere in progress. We seem to think they may have gotten left behind during the move; that reduces my stash to...zero. Ain't life fun? Stay tuned. I’ve seen some non English vids of people using it and it seems pretty cool. That company is coming out with some rather interesting tools, saw a no clean airbrush that not only runs bottled paints, but also can be set to run paint markers as well. I don’t know how well it works, but they definitely have some creative ideas. Quote

505thAirborne Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Hi all, I am starting a new custom project on an MPC Beta Fighter aka Mospeada Tread. For those of you who still have a MPC Shadow Fighter, does anyone have a clue what shade that thing actually is? I always remembered it being very dark & light gray combo. I pulled it out yesterday & realized that it's some shade of deep/dark blue, hint of purple perhaps... and the lighter shade is like a bluish-gray, maybe slate blue? Any advice would be helpful. I'd like the Alpha & Beta match up as much as possible. Quote

I have that kit, still unopened in the box. I've never even looked at the parts. I didn't think my modeling skills were up to the challenge when I bought it years ago, so I've been putting off doing anything with it. I did get a set of canopies from member Goodman Models a couple years ago. Maybe it's time to open the kit and at least see if all the parts are intact! Quote
