  1. Oh.. I had to think about that a moment.. Is that the actual PF version, or a custom job using the normal release? The markings are nice, but I've never liked panel lining. Really sad Arcadia decided to go that route, because I would have loved to pick up a PF version otherwise.
  2. I'll have to recheck then, maybe it was just the lighting where I was looking then. I mixed some parts with the VF-25S kit, and it didn't look darker, but my office lighting is pretty subdued.
  3. That's interesting.. I don't think the original kit parts use a different skin tone from any of the other VFG kits. They all look interchangeable.
  4. One of these days I'm going to take a crack at re-designing the Legioss into something that gives it a scale closer to the VF-1, stretching the proportions out to something closer to an F-18, and shrinking the cockpit relative to the rest of the design. It would probably be a lot more lanky, but I think with enough hidden collapsing mechanisms, you could still pull off a fairly chunky soldier mode. Mechanically speaking, the Legioss is almost like a mechanical mashup between the VF-1 and VF-19, with the way the legs, arms, and head are stowed. The big difference is the way the intakes aren't directly connected to the legs, and form the torso. This one really did finally nail the proportions though. It's the first time I actually find the Legioss fighter an attractive design that doesn't look like a giant pair of legs dangling under a tiny jet.
  5. And to think I used to consider "Do You Remember Love" to be a rather odd title.
  6. I firmly believe the universe has flipped, and reality is now being written by all of the characters co-opted over the years for ridiculous and non-sensical fanfic, as a form of revenge against their creators.
  7. Yeah, the set with all of the smaller scale ships is a mashup of wildly different quality kits The 1701, 1701-A, and 1701-D are from a kit AMT released in probably the late 80s, the 1701-B, C, and E are from the 90s, and the NX-01 is a newer mold. The molding is all over the map.
  8. Hah.. I have that set of all the 1/2500 kits waiting in the wings. I'm more enjoying the 1/1000 kits though, they're just a very nice display size. When I get around to the wallpaper decals, I'm going to be cutting them into a TON of segments to get them to lay down well.
  9. I think Disney is past worrying about that.
  10. So, just from the relative timeframe of the YF-19's release, it has always been my suspicion that the bad plastic found in the early VF-0 shoulders also made its way into the YF-19. It's just too similar a behavior to have parts shattering left and right. I was also concerned when I first saw how the later VF-19 and Arcadia YF-19 used almost identical shoulder assemblies to the earlier YF-19, but the plastic is of a completely different quality, and I have very rarely if ever heard of any issues with those releases.
  11. Those little guys are pretty good, I was really glad I grabbed the sets from HLJ on ultra-discount when they were running out the stock. Especially glad they had the VF-9 and VA-3, since I think those are the only mass-market versions of those designs.
  12. Don't see any reason it can't be a bit of both really. Given the use of the yellow bits elsewhere, I'd think the ones on the head might be meant to be spotlights. Either way, it really gives the Zeta a striking visage. I love the head design, even with the antenna being annoying for fighter mode.
  13. Maybe not a fair comparison in terms of existing designs, but I'm mostly referring to the complexity and creativity of the mechanisms they used in the design to hide so much of the robot inside the jet. Mostly I just love the way they unfold the entire foot from inside such an otherwise clean leg. I'm really looking forward to how they make the Su-27.
  14. Boy do I ever wish LEGO would re-introduce seamless angled plates like the old notched wing pieces. They make a ton of separate left and right plates in a bunch of other angles, so why not the 45 degree ones?
  15. I hope someone at Takara/Hasbro has seen that Lumitent video.. holy cow. Every bit of that transformation puts the new Starscream to shame.
  16. Don't apologize for that, the shoulder fin deserves it. If there wasn't any risk of utterly fouling up the head, I'd try lengthening the slot so the fin folds farther. Having a sliding pivot like Jenius mentioned would really have helped it.
  17. Oh, wow, you're right, I hadn't even gotten the nose gear locked all the way forward. The lock was very stiff, but it definitely holds the strut vertical.
  18. Just got both my VF-25S and VF-25G from HLJ delivered, and the 25G box is huge, as I expected. It's essentially a double sized one of the other VFG kits, because of all the extra parts involved in the super packs. It includes all the same parts as the normal VF-25S, plus the super packs, and a few Klan-specific variations of a few trees. What I did notice is that a bunch of the alternate parts advertised as some sort of exclusive add-on a while back for the Klan version are actually included in the base VF-25S kit, mainly a bunch of flesh-toned alternate parts for the body to give the outfit cut-outs. The bodies are entirely interchangeable if you want to mix and match heads, hair, or other features. They also use a very similar structure to the VF-31 kits, so you can probably mix and match components all over the place if you want.
  19. Don't know if anyone has noticed this, but if you try and manually resize a thumbnail, it actually throws up an error if you type in positive numbers, saying you need something less than or equal to zero.
  20. I was able to get clearance for the fin with it facing either direction, I'll see if I can get a good photo of where the head is situated for that later. You have to press the chin pretty deep into it's little space before everything fits into place. Edit: Got pics of it, and both positions give me a little bit of clearance, with the rear-swept one actually giving more room. There would be even more clearance if the legs were in the right position, but mine fit better with the legs tilted a little higher.
  21. It takes a little finagling of the neck joint, but I was able to get the head sunken in far enough so that it doesn't touch when folded in either direction.
  22. Got my pair of Zetas delivered today, and they're both in good shape. Noticed that the shoulders rotate MUCH easier now, although I'm having more trouble getting things lined up and snapped together in general. One had the hip joint twisted around, and that took a bit of work to get repositioned, but I was able to do it without any disassembly. Far as the tails go, both felt really tight, and the tails tend to pop off, so I worked them back and forth so they loosened up a little. I did notice that opening up the arms, and rotating the hands to the reverse of how they come from the factory did a lot to help. If you orient the hands so the backs are toward the tails, the fingers don't interfere at all, and they seem to fit better. One thing I have noticed is that things seem to line up better if you don't insert the tabs on the back of the calves into the black portion of the waist joint. It's only a slight adjustment, but you can pull those tabs out, and then raise the legs before pushing them back together again, those tabs will sit in a cut-out just above their intended slot. It reduces clearance underneath a bit, but it's still enough for the head fin, and it makes the arms seem to fit against the lower legs better. Overall really liking this one, especially the updated rifle. Funny thing, I've always wished the stock would unplug from the rifle so I could just mount the guns under the wings with nothing protruding. Now that I know how the stock is attached, I might see if I can tug the ones on my blue versions out. Don't want to break them, but I'm assuming they wouldn't make an entirely new part, and the others just have glue on the tab. Edit: Confirmed, the stock on the blue ones does detach as well, it's just really tight. Not sure it was even glued, just took a massive pull, but there's nothing to break if you want to try it yourself.

I think you would seriously struggle with most of those. For landing gear, the bays probably aren't nearly deep enough, and the heat shield would probably be too fragile if it was the required thickness. The gun handle though, I think would be entirely possible. It's not that complex a mechanism, and the gun already extends.
  24. I mean, if they give ALL of the squadron Kairos-style designs, I might get suckered in.
  25. That's... a weird sort of nostalgia. Like, the kind of nostalgia that would open a "Roaring 20s" themed bar, and then not serve any alcohol because prohibition was "in style" at the time.
