  1. I've been watching Samurai Flamenco on Netflix this week, and I'm up to episode 8. I think Manglobe has another hidden gem the likes of Ergo Proxy, Samurai Champloo, and Michiko to Hatchin. This isn't a story about a Batman type, a Wonder Woman type, or even a Power Rangers team (but it does poke fun at the latter). It's more realistic than these in some aspects, almost on the level of Kick@ss but with a heavy dose of lighthearted humor in place of the almost oppressive, dark overtones in certain Hollywood superhero films.
  2. The Virgin Galactic test flight crash is tragic news, and coming right on the coat tails of the Antares crash makes for a hard dose of reality in one short week for the space industry. My thoughts go out to the families and friends of both test pilots. And on a more personal level, my heart aches in empathy for the pilot we lost in the manned flight. That wasn't easy to hear... Mm. It never is.

    Macross figures

Nice. For some reason the new outfit does a better job with Sheryl's likeness than the original. In the original photos with Ranka, I was getting a very good vibe from Ranka's figure, but Sheryl's looked odd. Maybe it was the hair? Edit: Nope. DD Sheryl has a different face than I was expecting. Comparing the different hair styles in the photos highlights the difference in the figure's design and makes the look more uncanny to me. The child-like face on DD Ranka seems better suited to my expectations. Anyway, that's neither here nor there. I love the outfits!
  4. I don't know about that. Bandai gave us the VF-25, YF-29 and VF-171 variants quickly, but we still have just the one YF-30 scheme to date. It remains to be seen how this new VF-19 Advanced will fit in. Will it be the start of a new line with multiple paint schemes or a limited one-time "Isamu" thing? Either way, the fact that Bandai can afford to take the risk is pretty cool. And for Arcadia, the 0D is also a very cool risk. I don't see Arcadia and Bandai releases becoming mutually exclusive. I do hope that jvmacross is right and that some Black Friday sales pop up for this (as well as a couple other non-Macross related items on my hobby list). However, even if it isn't included, I'm not cancelling my order. Like I said, I want to complete my Macross Zero shelf.
  5. I find it hard envisioning a scenario where the 0D will shelf warm. That doesn't mean it couldn't happen. I just think that the odds are against it happening barring another economic bubble burst or Arcadia making a royal mistake with the updated design at the last minute. Personally, I really like the aesthetic of the Macross Zero fighters. When I first saw the OVA, I got the impression that these were transitional aircraft that sat between near-future carrier fighters and the SDFM VF-1 designs. For me, the airframe just stands out.
  6. The limited edition movie releases also show up as one bundle on Mandarake from time to time, and I've even seen the collector's box there too. However, when the latter is included it can make the whole set quite expensive.
  7. HaHa! Awesome news. Isamu's Frontier-era VF-19 looks great in Battroid mode. I can't wait to see more.
  8. Hm. That is a peculiar error. Have you checked with the bank that holds your Visa account to verify that HLJ wasn't flagged for some odd reason? I also had a billing agreement with HLJ, but I recently opted out because I like getting a payment request from the store and doing that part manually. I haven't had any issues with or without it.
  9. Blue Gender is intense. Terra Formars reminds me a lot of BG in a number of ways...well, when you take away the cone of censorship.
  10. Skywarp is now up for pre-order at TFSource for $199.99 shipped in the US. Every penny counts?
  11. That's a good idea. You could match a specific color to specific Valkyries or buy a few for a diorama. Thanks, Loop. I see that now. I was surprised more than bothered. Since Gakken posted the original thread in July, others have been comparing the Arcadia stand to other stands. I still think it is the best stand for storage at the moment. But I guess that can get repetitive after a fashion. My intent wasn't to kick up a dust cloud. I just feel lucky to have so many good choices.
  12. Not impossible, though. Yeti has shown the stand with Transformers, Hobby Master planes, LEGO, as well as Bandai and Arcadia Valkyries.
  13. LOL! Try as I might, I don't see the big feet. I only see bare feet. I shall consider myself fortunate this time.
  14. Nice find, jvmacross. I wonder what the final bid will be on Monday? * caught in a time warp *
  15. I don't know about the swim suit, but Yuki's legs look longer and that makes this version look taller to me. The feet don't bug me. She isn't wearing her space boots/heals.
  16. Amiami sent notice that both volumes are on the way. I had to sell a couple of things to afford this 2-volume set, but I have no regrets. Is anyone else picking up the M7 reissue?
  17. Huh? Are you talking about somebody else? Also, Emo? LOL! You don't even know me. Try again.
  18. Hm. Is anyone else other than BBTS listing MP-11 Skywarp? Maybe there will be more info by Monday?
  19. The dual-arm set up looks great! I'm in for two more stands (at least), but I also have to think about the configuration. Do I stick with the basic design (which is already very flexible), or do I go for something more advanced? Thanks for the continued development and support, ChaoticYeti,
  20. Your point? I don't see any debate here, just a bunch of shared opinions. Any discussion about one stand is going to bring up its good and bad points, and then people will add tangents about why x or y, or x and y stand is their favorite. It's the same in all the toy threads. Threads on Bandai Valkyries also discuss Arcadia releases, and vice versa. If you just want to focus on the Arcadia stand, then just focus on that. It's easy to ignore the rest without getting grumpy.
  21. Cool. I hope the release version of MP-11SW keeps that clean look. Thundercracker was too silly, even for me.
  22. I think the wide base is a good thing, especially for larger, heavier or irregular pieces. The YetiStand has a decent footprint to it too, but I think that its shape is more appealing. Both stands have their place, for sure. Arcadia's big plus is storage. I like to use these stands as a stackable alternative for small parts, which helps to cut down on the number of retail boxes filling up the limited closet space at home (and keeps me out of trouble). At this price, I will be happy to pick up some more. The YetiStand is my most flexible display stand. When I think of all the adapters that fit to it (custom and OEM) and the different poses that I can try out using the stand arms, I have no regrets paying the premium price. Plus, it's the work of a fellow forum member that continues to support it and develop it. Not bad at all. I do have a trio of the new flightpose stands, as well. I can see how these are appealing, but I wish I had found out about them when the old version was still available. I'm not impressed with the new model. The lack of a mechanical connection with the toy (which both Arcadia and YetiStand provides using adpaters) concerns me. I only put small, light items on these.
  23. * raises hand * I placed a pre-order for Eva MP-10 with actionrobo.com, and I'm looking forward to seeing this one in person. YotH MP-10 was ridiculous in the promotional shots (the bling, bling layer over the chrome really caught the eye), but it is a nice figure in hand and I think the same will be true for Eva MP-10.
  24. HaHa. Yeah. This is one far left-field repaint that I cannot stand behind. I may buy Soundblaster in protest.
