  1. Yeah. Before the confusion began, david had shared tweets indicating that Mr. K was working on the prototype: specifically a shoulder joint and an ankle joint. Then, firefly spotted the new blue. I'm not sure what to make of the rest. It threw me off because I didn't get the joke.
  2. Talk about supersized! I thought Prime came up to Grimlock's shoulder blades? This KO MP-08 seems a little too tall next to KO MP-10. I hope one of the third parties will be able to find a happy medium between short and tall Grimlock. I can wait for that.
  3. I don't see it either. The blue from the animation and the marketing poster are similar, but both are quite different from the first prototype shots shown above. The photo that IXTL shared from Mr. K's feed does show a new blue along with the old prototype blue. I hope this means that Mr. K is taking feedback and updating the prototype, but until the final production shots are released I guess anyone who has an opinion will be able to continue the debate. Whatever happens with the paint, I'm looking forward to buying this. It will be my first Zero-era Valkyrie.
  4. LoL. It's 1980s anime. It can be either incredibly awesome or incredibly awkward. I've been trying to find a good sample of Transformers Victory episodes, but I don't know where to begin. I did find this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnaMBMwFbWY
  5. So... Orders for Ultra Magnus are open again at HLJ. I know I have been critical of this release, but after some more thought (and shuffling around other orders) I've decided to give the big guy another chance. If anyone else is looking, here is a direct link: http://www.hlj.com/product/TKT80320/Sci
  6. Yes. It is the regular edition. Regular Edition MSRP: $59.98 Funimation Shop Edition MSRP: $89.98 Amazon.com Limited Edition MSRP: $99.98
  7. I got the impression that Valverave was similar to Code Geass, since both Haruto and Lelouch have special abilities that can affect the people around them. I wasn't impressed by either series and was only able to make it through the first season of each. The characters are extremely flamboyant, or melodramatic, at times and it is hard for me to get into a show when the voice actors use that method.
  8. Yeah. At this point I'm waiting for reviews since I cancelled my HLJ order. Depending on how people rate UM, waiving off now could prove to be a costly decision. Haha.
  9. That's a sweet commercial, d. And it's making me wish--again--that MP-22 was more accurate to the toy version. MP-10 with power armor would have been amazing.
  10. Hm. The Galaxy Railways are perfectly acceptable in Matsumoto Leiji's universe, because Matsumoto writes fantasy in space. In other words, there is no need for any hand waving. I'm actually tired of the need for realism in good fiction. We wouldn't have had great SF writers like Iain M. Banks if realism were the end all, be all of everything fiction.
  11. Now that's classy of them. I gather they take their money up front for the order? Whatever the case, it's a real shame to see this kind of support and I'm sorry to read that something that should have been resolved with a little observation on their part is taking so much time and effort on your end to fix. I agree that new material might help for the next run or, at the very least, a new supplier. I'm looking forward to whatever you can do, CY. Take your time.
  12. Is this the super fanservice release or the super troll release from Megahouse? When the new preorders hit, I found the B-type Yamato Crew Original Color version of Yuki's first sculpt. I really like her black and white uniform from Final Yamato, even though the movie was so-so when compared with the original TV series. I'll have to wait until I see pilot suit Yuki in person, but I may end up selling my copy if it ends up as goofy as the promo shots.
  13. I agree. The reddit thread seems to be picking more nits than raising an alarm. I think if it were something serious, then more sites would be drawing attention to the changes. The AVSForum that I linked above is well known for having audio and video purists. They even have a gold list that rates every blu-ray release available in North America. Perhaps this is less GitS 2.0 and more Lain. There are changes going to blu-ray, but the good outweighs the bad. I'm keeping a positive point of view.
  14. Wait. The remix and Japanese blu have been out for how long and reddit is only starting to complain about it this year? Bad reddit. The screenshots from the Japanese release on AVS look nice: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/150-blu-ray-software/1445873-cowboy-bebop-complete-series-blu-ray-collection-japan.html My original DVDs will be a good archive for the original dub. But I have no reason to think that the blu-ray will be 5.1 only. The Japanese release also had the old 2.1 Japanese language track. I'm with Keith, this seems to be a dub-only issue. Are there any other links with more information?
  15. Great review, Gakken. Thank you for taking the time to put it together. Your video reminded me that I needed to check the arms on my copy of MP-08X. Luckily, the assembly is okay. I do have a small smudge of red paint on Grimlock's right dino chest that I need to clean up and his plastic tray was warped in the sealed box. I don't know what happened to the tray. It's a shame that this release isn't up to the standards of the first. I would have also liked to see a return of that shiny metallic silver finish. The chest and neck plate plastic seem to vary in quality from piece to piece. My copy is not as cloudy as yours, and the green tint is not as obvious. However, the lack of paint does make the details under the chest plate less defined when compared with the original. Going forward, I'll be taking a closer look at the third party releases.
  16. I like Soar's TV color scheme. Having so many companies manufacturing the Dinos is nice because of the choices. If Takara makes more official MP Dinos, then that will bring even more choice (and make my buying decision incredibly difficult). I do like the changes that GigaPower has made to their prototype molds. I might wait for them just to get more info and read up on any comparisons made by early adopters. That, and my wallet would appreciate it.
  17. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1300298569/under-the-dog As of an hour ago, Under the Dog met its goal! I guess this should have its own thread now, eh? I'm excited about the turn around. Last week was looking iffy, but I have to hand it to this team, they did not falter. And their core ideas seem to be resonating with the anime community now in the final hours. Everything raised from this point until Sunday will be a sweet bonus.
  18. Bebop on blu locally. It's about time! The other two will be a treat for those who waited, but i already bought into the Japanese releases and paid the import price. FYI: Spirited Away is looking very nice.
  19. Thanks, Gakken! Even with all my criticism it is a fun toy. It would have been a great deal too if the KO company had been able to price it below $100, but I'm sure that paint is expensive.
  20. There was a rumor that Takara will reissue MP-10 in Asia again sometime around April 2015. This is the version that comes with the stand and the coin. A few stores already have early preorders up, and I figure more will follow suit as the date approaches.
  21. My KO Masterpiece Convoy arrived today. Technically, this isn't an official Hasbro or Takara release. However, I thought I would do my own comparison with the official Takara MP-10 and post it here. The results were mixed. Out of the box, the size difference that I thought I could see in the videos was not so easy to see in person. I had to stand MP-10 back to back with the KO before noticing these subtleties. Even then, I had to look to find them. The shoulders are just about level. Optimus's head is off by millimeters between the two (MP-10 is shorter). For those bothered by Takara's dead eyes, the first characteristic of the KO that stands out as a plus is the built in light piping. But then, the arms seem off... (Takara's arm is on the left and KO's arm is on the right below) Moving on, if someone were to take both pieces and avoid scrutinizing them carefully, the KO would stand out because of its paint apps. Really, that is the main draw of this release (as noted by others) and reviews have shown how well these are done already, so I will avoid repeating that here. I will say that the metal flake in the red and blue paint is a nice touch. Oddly, this is where the KO's benefits end. One of these things Is not like the other The KO is a no-frills release, like MP-10B, and comes with the Ion blaster, the Matrix of leadership, and the Energon axe. All three of these accessories lack the quality found in the Takara and Hasbro releases (yes, even the YotH version). The Energon axe looks dreadful with no tone to it and malformed spikes. My KO Ion blaster did not move smoothly and appeared to be assembled incorrectly. I had to take it apart half-way, cut away some flashing and reassemble a couple springs before it popped open like the Takara MP-10 blaster. Furthermore, the assembly of the blaster was gappy. MP-10's blaster was not. The KO Ion blaster is on the top, the MP-10 blaster is on the bottom Speaking of flashing, there was also some left over on the KO figure itself! The eye sockets were not clean cut. When posing the KO, there are some similarities with MP-10 but the KO reminds me more of the Hasbro MP releases. The joints are clicky, but are looser in the knees (like Hasbro MP Prime). The thigh (?) joints are super tight with a well-defined click---maybe a little too tight. The shoulder joints are about the same on MP-10 and the KO (both sliding in and out but not falling out) which I like. One last thing: the windshield wipers are not a useful gimmick. I can see them getting in the way of transformation and becoming annoying or even breaking easily. I'm left wondering if this added detail was necessary. And that leaves my recommendation. KO Convoy is not worth the investment if you just want a Masterpiece Prime. If Hasbro or Takara have a release that is readily available at retail, then it is worth buying one of those instead (even if you have to save some money to do it). The KO may be worth your time as a curiosity if you are a Convoy completionist, or want a fancy painted prime without doing all the painting yourself. Upgrading the lousy accessories that come with the KO should be easy enough, especially if the fists are the same size as MP-10. However, doing this will add to the cost of a KO that is already well north of $100. Buyer beware.
  22. I didn't inhale. I'm relieved that both MP-22 and MP-23 are a pass for me. This will allow me to focus on Arcadia's new releases.
