Yeah, because they charge between five and ten bucks and then shipping and taxes it might be about the same price

Those are cool One to one might be a bit much unless you don’t mind using extra thin paint. I’d start smaller, maybe about just enough to have quarter of the snout and let it soak in for a couple hours and see what it’s like. Try stirring it to get a feel and see if it mixes and if it’s too gloppy you can add a little thinner as you go. If it has had chunks, but some is liquid, let it set for a little longer like overnight or something. lacquer paint seem like they can be rescued often. Some Ma. k. Builders brush the paint and will use dry pallets to mix paint and use. Sometimes they leave them on the pallet when they have to do other things and just revitalize it when getting back to the project later. It’s not something that works with acrylics very well. Enamel is an iffy one, it sometimes works and other times not so much and ends up chunky

Not sure if that stuff will really stick. It will lay down well, but probably rub off easily and the rubbery stuff doesn’t handle top coats well.

The Acolyte - Disney Plus Star Wars Series
Big s replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I actually was about 50/50 on it. They like to make silly mistakes on D+, but lately they’ve been getting a little quicker with the cancel button. Willow sucked, but they pulled that one pretty fast and I think that was kinda the beginning there. It’s just too bad that they won’t just make better shows that people could care about watching in the first place. The Acolyte didn’t deserve a second season and honestly felt complete for the most part by the en anyway. The good guys beat the bad guys and went off into the sunset or something. There were a few loose ends, but nothing that felt important. -
It does come with the decals and stickers. That’s one advantage the p Bandai items usually have over the standard release items.

Best way to handle soft material is honestly to just leave it be. There aren’t many paints that work on them, but in the grooves on the old hg kits that had rubbery joints, I found that games workshop paints don’t come out of the grooves easily. I did a panel lining with their black and it gave a pretty good effect since nothing was in contact with those areas and the gw paints are a little rubbery themselves. Those parts also don’t sand well, so for mold line a sharp knife blade works if you have a steady hand. I think I remember someone using plastidip on them, but I’d definitely test before use. As far as being cheaper, it’s probably due to the age of that kit. It’s pretty old at this point and all the newer hg web exclusives are really pricey between 35 and 50 bucks here in the U.S.

The Acolyte - Disney Plus Star Wars Series
Big s replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I didn’t say he was the greatest character, or particularly good, just that he was the most compelling in this particular show filled with absolutely lame characters and oddly made his character stand out from the bunch. And he was able to compel the main character to become the “Acolyte” -

The most compelling character survived actually. It’s to bad the show sucked so bad that we didn’t get to see much of him. I thought she was kind forgettable other than having one great scene still best part of the whole show -
From what I’ve gathered, the mg is the old one. But it really is hard to find info on non gundam kits. I had to actually check the runners on the Dunbine hg kit to see that it actually was an all new kit. I skipped the hg Virunvee, and now I’m wondering if that was also a brand new kit. I may have to get one to find out if it gets rereleased like the hg Dunbine and the Dragonar 1

1/72 Destroid Spartan kit by IMAI (Bandai rebranded version)
Big s replied to treatment's topic in Model kits
I’m still hoping that since Macross is really popular in the models again currently that Wave might consider giving us a Spartan in 1/72 scale. There have been a lot of surprises recently and if not Wave, maybe Hasegawa once they finish off their Zentraedi kits. Maybe Max Factory could jump on it if the others don’t. Who knows, maybe since they have put out some larger kits, an unholy 1/72 Monster might be a consideration -
I know the feeling. Personally, I usually have time to snip out parts at work on kits, but I can’t do the real messy stuff like paint or putty yet. Haven’t had much free time at the house to do anything fun for a bit. Hopefully things look better for you and your aunt. Cancer can be a rough one, but good things can happen and better treatments seem to be on the horizon

I heard it works good, but I think any lacquer thinner works. I’ve resurrected dry bottles with the leveling thinner

Dinocross is after Maclobster. it took quite a few crustaceans before Eva got an evolutionary bump to land animal. But at least it gives hope for Skull squadron raptor.

Finally able to answer my own question since I just got one as a gift. I’d been curious if it was just an updated kit, but it’s actually a brand new mold as of 2023. All the runners have the same date on them. No polycaps and no rubbery joints on this like the old one. The wings have an interesting sparkle and the canopy uses “half mirror technology”. Basically it’s like a weird mirror is coating over the top, but is still a dark clear plastic that mends up translucent. I just thought their term was funny. not sure how to recommend it the kit since it seems really great, but costly for a hg kit. Maybe for a big Dunbine and model kit fan that has extra spending cash

The Alien/Predator/Aliens vs. Predator Thread
Big s replied to VT 1010's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That’s mostly due to the creepy pervy vision of H.R. Giger. His artwork is very detailed and extremely pervy. And if you ever get to see a making of on how the original sculpt was made for the alien from the original movie, it’s pretty creepy. The guy used vehicle parts and animal flesh and meat. Honestly, the guy could probably get a horror movie based on his life -

Batman: Caped Crusader (Series) [Prime Video]
Big s replied to pengbuzz's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Finally got around to the final episodes and found myself a bit disappointed. This show is kind of a let down overall. It’s not necessarily bad, but just disappointing. It doesn’t know if it wants to be a children’s show or get down and dirty with the violence. The voice acting is ok, but the characters feel weird here most of the time. The writing is very flawed here and makes Batman seem a little Dumb and the animation is kind of a letdown as well. It looks like a show that got hit by budget constraints and lines got awkwardly simplified in the animation and action choreography is very absent. Season one is a bit of a mess Still it has a bit of charm that wouldn’t allow me to hate the show. If it gets a second season and can fix its problems, it could end up a great show. Batman needs more intelligence, the animation needs to be a bit more special and they need to figure out how to have a show that’s more for older kids since it has a fair amount of killing. A little blood from a gunshot wound would help here and there. As is its still easy for very young audiences and honestly adding a little blood here and there won’t change that much- 50 replies

*checks vs current info* Dammit!!! It’s ok we all make mistakes, just kinda funny that most people either didn’t care or didn’t know who was even starring in this. That’s probably a bad sign for it’s box office numbers. I don’t think he’s that bad, just kinda more of a warm batch of canned tuna on a hot day. His acting ability isn’t the worst, but the odd thing with him is that the directors often give him too much creative control of his characters and nobody wanted Leto the Ghetto Joker.

Language! Although I think it would be hilarious if they spent fifteen minutes on why the Alien had a giant one for its head. Maybe it just walks under the queen or something?

I don’t know all in all where the pricing goes, but Hasegawa is definitely the budget builders best friend. I got that Queadluun Rau for something like fourty bucks or less before shipping, and even after shipping and taxes was about what you paid for two basic hg kits bit with a box that could house several hg kits and still has quite a bit of color separation and a massive size and waterslide decals. Not to mention awesome artwork on that massive box

The Macross kits actually have quite a lot of parts and runners compared to a standard hg kit. I’d say like two kits worth of parts. The web exclusive VF-22 for Gamlin does include the waterslide decals, and that’s something that the standard kits don’t even include for some stupid reason. I’m not sure if they just added extra parts for the changes or if it also still has the 21 parts and the new ones included. I don’t really know how to compare the prices to a standard mg gundam, because I can’t think of one that’s been worth buying in the last couple years. The RG kits are probably a better deal as standard kits than these Macross ones, but I like Macross far more and so far the only YF-21 that I really loved other than the old revoltech is Bandai’s hg kit. I will say that probably the worst offender lately as far as expensive hg kits are those new Dragonar ones at about $40 at the U.S. site. But I still bought both of them and will probably buy any others the put out. I love the Dragonar-1 kit and I try not to think about the fact that it’s not really worth what they charged

He had an annoying band for starters and I’ve only really liked him in one movie and he wasn’t very memorable to me in that sequel to blade runner. But I think most of the hate comes from his choices as the Joker and the creepy way he treated the other cast members.
