Macross World Convention 2016 - October 15, 2016
Mazinger replied to KiriK's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Hey Lynn, any chance you could hook up a performance by Fire Bomber American? I love their music, it's so much better than that weird Japanese band's covers from the M7 fleet. -
The Wolverine FILMS (X-Men Universe)

Great trailer. Got the feels. *sniff* Maybe I should stop while I'm ahead and keep the story swirling in my imagination after that. At least then I can't be disappointed... -

If any of you go, and he takes questions, ask him about any possible Macross Delta movies. -
Macross World Convention 2016 - October 15, 2016

I want to thank the organizers and all the volunteers for their hard work. This was my second year attending and I had a great time. It's nice to put faces to the fans that I hear from on FB, the forums, and now on twitter. The talent and dedication in this community is phenomenal. As for suggestions, I think the following would be cool as side panels, ie not necessarily main events: 1) Modelling/customization workshop - get tips, learn some techniques from the pros. 2) Fan-led discussions on any number of Macross topics. Part of the fun for me in meeting up with fans is talking about people's pet theories and fiction ideas. -
"He-Man and Masters of the Universe" Film by Sony

http://people.com/movies/who-should-play-he-man-in-the-new-movie/ Interesting to see the names that they through out. I'm pretty sure at 33 Alexander Skarsgard would be out. -
Well, in case anyone else might have the same question or intent, I have found a few HO model train scale buildings, about 1:87, which could look good in a macross city diorama: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Outland-Models-Train-Railway-Modern-Tall-Business-Building-Office-HO-OO-Scale/391423936277 There is another scale, called TT scale, about 1/120, that is not widely used, but I think it would be better to err on larger side since very often in the SDF TV series, valks were shown to be almost smaller than the buildings around them.
-
Hmm, that pic makes the buildings seem a bit small given that 1/100s would be bigger. Dang.
-
Curious to get your guy's take on how out of scale it might be with the HMR line. It seems to be aimed at Gundam High Grade or about 1/44. http://www.ebay.com/itm/3x-Japanese-Building-Model-kit-Road-for-HGUC-HG-1-144-Gundam-Macross-Tomytec-use/322083542816 Do any of you have and Gundam HG's to line up an HMR next to? I've asked in a separate post, though other's have asked here in this thread, if there are any good diorama building products, but I haven't seen any replies in answer.
-
Hmm, I'd be interested in one of JC Collectable's Max's if others could vouch for the store.
-
Nice Birds of Prey you have in the background there ZorClone. I'm assuming they are kits and not toys,is that correct?

Half way through Luke Cage and it's good. Better than DD s2, not as compelling as JJ for yet. JJ was really something great, better than DD s1. It's interesting that the Marvel TV shows are so strong. I'm now more interested in them than the movies. Feeling iffy about Iron Fist, but Marvel hadn't made a slip yet.

Suicide Squad, in theaters Aug. 5, 2016

Took me two attempts to get through this, it was that good! Well, at least it was better than SvP by at least 18.3%.- 242 replies

Ha! I registered and was looking at the 1/60's, hoping against hope that no one else knew about them. Opening bids start then around 90, then went to 120, and most items sold around 150. The yamato stands sold for $50 each I think. Interesting to actually partake in a real, voice and video auction.

I think we need fact checkers for anything coming out from HG! Sorry, couldn't resist, this being the night of the second US presidential debate.

General TV & Streaming series thread

WestWorld is pretty good. I've seen the first two episodes and like it. I like the how potential of technology is depicted. I do wish they showed more about how the "software" is put together, but I suppose, that this may be for the better as it would date the show in the future. I love the talent involved. I feel spoiled watching Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Wright, Ed Harris, and the rest of the great cast deliver the scenes. -
You guys might be thinking about Daltanious: Or Gaiking, which looks like a lion to me. Both had manes, but I never thought any of the voltron lions were ever "portrayed" as anything other than male, if you can call it that.

It's earned the acclaim. It takes the basic content from GoLion and adds a compelling story with lots of strong character arcs a la the Avatar shows and has a Netflix level of commitment. I just started a rewatch with my girls this morning in preparation for season 2. I wish it had been Netflix to have tackled Thundercats and He-Man instead of Cartoon Network since CN bailed after only a season of either and, really, the Thundercats reboot was picking up steam. Officially it was discontinued do to poor toy sales, which seem to have all been from Bandai, but Netflix doesn't seem to care so much about toys as they need content to motivate subscriptions. This might be sacrilege, but seeing how well the story telling has been on Voltron also makes me wish Netflix would take a stab at other lesser-known series like Southern Cross, or dare I say, a fully authorized, Studio Nue backed Macross entry! (Quickly ducks to avoid incoming fire...)

@Operator7G, you have a PM sir. -
Very nice, thanks! I'm gonna have to go get a few.

@Slave IV, What are those white shelf units you have on there? How are they attached to the wall. I'm in the market for a somewhat similar solution, but the drywall in my nerd-cave is super thin.
