  1. He said "hoping", not "expecting". I think we'll see a 19S sooner than later and if the Kai and S sell well, maybe an F and a P. If we get to a P, I'll get optimistic about more Mac7 HMR. A YF-21/VF-22 would be higher on my hopes than a 17 but I'd love 'em all.
  2. Not soon, but eventually. After the review posts I'm going to move on to the VT-1.
  3. I think I'm talking myself into buying this. It would be my first purchase from ShowZ which means it takes more to convince myself to do it.
  4. In my first transformation guide, I rotated the hips all the way up into their fighter position for battroid which is not correct... slightly more line art accurate but it causes handling issues. I've corrected the video and made it more clear where the hip should stop.
  5. Yeah, that's the backpack locking pin. It's mean to be removable. See my transformation guide above.
  6. I have no real issues with 30 Seconds to Mars, and I liked Leto in Dallas Buyers Club. He seems to be on a real losing streak though and has become associated with stinkers. Ten years ago I would have been like "Oh, it's got Leto in it?" Now I'd be like "Ugh, it's got Leto in it." A few wins and that would change though. I went through something similar with Joaquin Phoenix. Remember when he did that stupid "I'm Still Here" movie? He basically 'pretended' to be an awful person for years for Casey Affleck's amusement or something.
  7. Besides saying one will exist, can anyone remind me what hints we have about the pilot figure? Could they just send a fetal position figurine or did they promise more than that?
  8. Given the remarks about the HMR being a copy of the Arcadia, it stands to reason that battroid will look too small. In fighter mode the Arcadia toy is about 1/56 scale but in battroid mode it is 1/66 scale (going off official measurements). This might be one of those rare occasions where Kawamori's math on what battroid mode height should be, was flawed. It seems like actual height should have been 14.1 meters (the height of the Arcadia toy *60), not 15.5. Edit - of course, if it were 14 meters, then it would be the same height as a VF-1 (14.2) and everything would make sense. Edit 2 - If you want 1/100 scale, the original Hi-Metal toy with its much longer proportions is 1/100 scale in battroid but is 1/88 in fighter.
  9. Well I won't freak out for another week. Fortunately I have my first VT-1 to work on..
  10. Ah, that explains why the price on the ol' secondary market hasn't dropped as precipitously as I was hoping.
  11. So can you just walk into a Tamashii store in Japan and buy one of these right now? If so, anyone gonna be near one of these stores and feel like hookin' a guy up?
  12. After college (a long time ago now!) I found MW. In my young 20s I was pretty insufferable both on these boards and elsewhere. As both a fan of Max and the humor of the ironic mispelling of genius in the context of these boards, the handle was 'prefect'. Later, I was offered the anymoon website but it was unclear how long I'd be able to operate on it so I made the name 'scorched earth toys' with the assumption it might have to be housed somewhere other than anymoon.com someday. Turns out, I've been able to keep anymoon.com so now the two name thing is just confusing and since my handle here predates the site, it's yet another name to throw in.
  13. Yikes, I hope you're wrong, I just asked to have mine ship with the Hi-Metal R VF-19Kai and Tiny Session YF-19.
  14. I haven't been checking in on this thread enough, amazing work! I missed it, how did you do the canopy?
  15. So many different variations of how this could happen. The design was originally paid for by Yamato and they went out of business. Arcadia may have kept the molds but the design may have reverted back to T-Rex. The design is also very old at this point so it's possible there were time limits involved by any of the companies involved that have all now passed. Everything previously postulated is in play too. I agree, up to the VF-0, Bandai seemed desperate almost to put their own mark on things (like the YF-21 where they threw out even what Kawamori had done). I'm okay with them shrinking good designs and making them more affordable, seems like a win for all of us.

    Hi-Metal R

Seems like a good time to repost this. Mike, just grab a tape measure and put it next to one of your transformers at any of these heights:

    Hi-Metal R

It's technically non scale but the releases range between 1/80 and 1/100.
  18. I agree with the hopes we get all the variants. Curious if this sound booster is a straight reissue with new clips.
  19. Mine should go up this weekend, just waiting on my voice to recover from a head cold to finish.
  20. I love the box but don't understand or like the mash up paint scheme. If they went full autobot it could have been epic.
  21. Looks like Arcadia has a lot of competition in the VF-1 space... Maybe this will be the mold's last hurrah, like the repackaged 1/48 VF-1 toys from Yamato.
  22. Haha, sounds about right.
