  1. When you say "Readily available".... I assume you don't mean sane person readily available (Bestbuy, Amazon) So do you mean... Crazy Otaku readily available (order from a specialty importer using Japanese text based search with a varying level of legality for importing) Or average Macross fan readily available (Order from a non-english site that only ships to Japan, using a 3rd party shipper, item is preorder only and currently out of stock) Heh heh but seriously, if you do have a store suggestion for such things, send it my way. And thanks for your concert report, I read it previously, good job with that! It's almost a crime against humanity that these incredible concerts that so many people work so hard on and so few tickets available are not put on video. Just a little experience goes a long way when it comes to big crowds, even just one concert before.... May'N looked super confident with a big grin first thing. But you might be right. Watching a stage crew hurriedly build a lifting device as fast as they can and riding it up might have caused some of that nervousness. But in any case they both are adorable.
  2. I don't normally do this, but... bump. And a for good measure. Holy crap these are incredible. I missed this topic because it was way down the subforum. These deserve to be seen. I don't deserve to make a request, but a Gerwalk hovering (with feet slightly askew attempting to balance thrust levels/direction) or air breaking with feet forward would be insanely good.
  3. I was the fan that asked her on her FB, and can confirm that's what she said, "No DVD or Bluray for the crossover concert". I can only hope they decide otherwise later. Shame that there will be only one day, limited tickets, and no vid for something so historic. And yes, she is a habitual FB post deleteer. I mean I love Mari, she's a great multi-talented artist and really nice in person; but she edits, edits, then deletes FB posts all the time. (well, to be honest, sometimes I do too) Had this one friggin adoreable vid where she was baby talking her bunny in an ultra high piched (yet still really smooth) voice. One of the cutest things I have ever heard in my life. She deleted it because there was a bunny poop in the frame she didn't notice before. Gah! Rabbits poop. It happens. Don't dele.... *gone* - sigh. But maybe that's what celebs have to do to not crush the hopes and dreams of fans or deal with trolls. She's on the Macross 30 collectors edition pack interview DVD. She personally warned me that "oh I look horrible on it" or some such nonsense. I told her I can't contradict that right now becuase I haven't seen it yet, but I doubt it and will deal with that shortly when I get it. Send her some fan love and buy some of her independant CDs. http://www.marimusic.com/ But she would much rather talk Lakers basketball instead of Macross

Sharp eye! The thing that bugged me was ovbiously some sort of power up attack. (was during that cheesy propganda "interview" program with game footage where they drool on whatever they are paid to drool for.) Was flying along, Leon yelled something, transformed to Battleoid, and spammed missiles. The problem I have is that it was mid air, the Valk Battleoid completely stopped forward momentum, stood in mid air solid as ground with no foot thrust as the attack/power went off. After the attack was done, it started to decend and foot thrust. Kinda like a Wil. E. Cyotoe "gravity forgot about you" moment. Just slightly dissapointed. Part of the reason I love Valk/Battleoid so much is the twichy foot thrusters, convincingly trying to keep balance as it hovers in place. Breaks my suspension of disbelief to see the thrusters completely stop.
  5. Gah! Spoiler tags!!!! This is the newbie thread and we are talking about the most recent Macross movie to be realeased in stores. Capitol ships NEVER has as good of armor as individual combat units, in any series. It's way too expensive to cover that sort of size and mass in amazingly good armor. And in any case, it would be a matter of massive heat dissapation, not damage tolerance. Yep, they are. We are still talking about a one time short burst of intense heat and a damaging shockwave - missile vs Continual building heat of that has no upper limit as to how hot it gets. - reentry Yes, reentry can very easily be worse than a nuke. For refernce, check Russia's meteor. That was all reentry damage - equivalent to 30 nukes.
  6. I don't think any comment is needed other than silent shocked awe, and a question of when his personal Macross Museum will open for tours, and what are the hours. ... there is a main page?
  7. Yep yep, wasn't trying to criticize in any way, just enjoying an excuse to talk about the YF-29 design and ponder unlisted details.
  8. You know, now that I look at it, maybe they are two dual smoothbore laser barrels with some type of cooling apparatus around em. But that segmented dark split down the middle sure is reminiscent of a Zentran "split open" particle cannon.
  9. The Alto one is "correct" per the movie. But they are likely some sort of sensor or secondary camera, I doubt they are a gun. Nothing wrong with a rear facing camera considering what the Battleoid cockpit nearly 360 hud looks like. Probably need more rear facing sensors. After all the YF-29 Alto flies in the movie is still a prototype. Perfectly valid to have some changes once it becomes a "production model". But what I want to know is if the normal standard Valk "Anti-air" head laser has been replaced by dual mini particle cannons. Both little "antenna" barrels are now a split configuration, much like a Zentran cruiser or the VF-27 /YF-29 main beam gun pod in "cannon mode". All previous Valks had smooth barrel lasers on the head. (And no, these are not listed on any English wiki, unlike the head lasers on every other Valk) Admittedly, the top mounted dual beam cannon turret does cover much of the point defense work other Valks would use the head laser for. I don't think Alto even fires anything from the YF-29's head the whole movie.
  10. I assume they are talking about rapid reentry? No it's not inconsistent. Considering the temperature limit on friction does not exist. The faster you go, the hotter the leading edge gets due to the friction of bumping into atmospheric air molecules. Go too fast, you burn up. End of story regardless of armor. And slowing down isn't always a good tactical option.

The tinny/weak "bad voice" clips seemed to me to be every time the character speaking is wearing a helmet. If so, that is a very extreme helmet effect. Overdone if so.

What I wouldn't give for Hikaru to instead show up in a VF-4 saying "This is flight Commander Ichijo Hikaru, Megaroad one, we sure are glad to see you" And discover the entire Megaroad One stuck on Orboros after the fold fault accident. (And find out ex-captain Misa is in the ship's brig for incompetent space folding heh heh) Oh well, we can hardly ever have plot continuation with Macross, just redo similar events over and over with movies.
  13. This one seems to be the most active, and ends up being custom kits, figures, models, toys, and dolls... even though it's in the "Toy" section: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=34339

Per Macross Frontier Sayonara no Tsubasa: Isamu is alive and well in 2060. Isamu is a test pilot for SMS. While he was flying a YF-19 in that movie.... The newest SMS fighter prototype is the YF-29.... that he would likely be testing. Not too surprising that he has access to one. Heck he might have arrived in a YF-29 in the same "fold whatever the hell event" as Alto and Sheryl for all we know. He might consider it an upgrade to get his hands on a YF-19 once he gets in contact with Aisha.... Oh god what did I just say.... Isamu... contact... Valkyrie designer Aisha... yeah he would totally contact that.
  15. Not only that, people that ordered the Macross 30 PS3 game collectors edition will get a code for a chance to win a ticket. (about 100 total avail?) How to use that code and what the heck somebody on the other side of the world will do with it is another matter.
  16. Yep! Seconded. Sure beats looking at tons of share this if you _____ memes. Keep em coming!
  17. No voucher here either. Ion cannon thier weapons, use a transporter to beam over and assassinate the crew. Huge amount a salvage when you take a ship intact. That extra income makes the game much easier. The starter Engi ship has a wonderful rapid fire Ion cannon.
  18. I have no idea what the logic is for making these things so damn rare. It's not like the manufacturers are making any more money. Sadly it would probably be easier to make one from scratch with a BJD body, a salvaged PVC Ranka figure head, and have clothes custom made. But yeah, I would be interested too, but I'm not counting on that happening.
  19. That would be friggin amazing if Frontier made enough for Big West friendly folks to buy out Tatsunoko and solve the world wide Macross problem. Harmony Gold couldn't stop Macross in the US if Tatsunoko shareholders revoked their ill gotten distribution license. It would be like pulling the rug out from under HG. Oh well, one can dream anyway.

    Macross figures

Ack bad timing! Just like a week or two late on this. I checked a few stores, no luck. I thin your best bet is probably to see if any stores have some preorder cancellations once the first lot actually arrives. Can anyone else help out with ideas?
  22. ^ This. Clarence still has some of the best quotes ever. And you can't be a proper bad guy without mercilessly killing your own henchmen like he does.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of the recent Macross extreme Chibi scale of the head being about the same size as the body shoulder to toe. Most chibis do not have such a HUGE head to body proportion, they at least have the body slightly bigger or "chubby" so the head does not look that freakishly huge. But riding a thermonuclear fusion reaction missile, that's a win both for badass and classic cinema references.
  24. No release company is a big red flag, especially when they claim that there is an English dub included. Might be an illegitimate rip of the well done AnimEigo dub - and that would be the best case scenario as far as listening to it. If there was no English dub, I would tend to think it was some "Grey Market" Hong kong (or somewhere else in Asia) copy. Technically legal there, but commonly sold outside with varying legal basis. But no company name on the box + Dub = Worry.
