  1. BBTS has the Legends Black Convoy from this years Tokyo Toy Show in stock, if anyone is interested: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/54644
  2. Or the PlanetX ones if you like the FoC aesthetic and don't want to go the Masterpiece route. I agree however that the FansToys versions are the best toys of the Dinobots out there. They have some inconsistencies, their Scoria is not as good as the others but Sever, Stomp and Grinder are great (if you like the Transformers MP style)
  3. While MMCs Calidus looks like a well done toy. He definitely needs more painted highlights to break up the chest and front of the car. I think bright orange or red Energon glow lines would really bring out all the molded details.

    Hi-Metal R

Noooooooo I can't order anything before the 4th of July because I'll be on a plane. I hope this is available the next day. I'll already missed the Tokyo toy show Black Convoy.
  5. I'd love to see a Studio Ox version of Predaking in the Ocular Max line. With die-cast and all. Love the look bit could never get around the build quality of the UT version. Nixe reviews though. I enjoy reading them.
  6. Awesome episode. Had a chance to listen to it today. Keep the toy discussions coming.
  7. Yeah I'm not taking this rumor for the truth but I would be interested in buying one. It would go well with the new Y-Wing I built a couple of weeks ago.
  8. So I saw a rumor video that said that there will be a release (reissue) of the UCS Millenium Falcon this year. If this is true I hope it is not just a straight reissue but a new design/redesign of the old UCS set. While it is an awesome set I think they could to a better job with the new build techniques and parts. Since this is a rumor I'm not getting my hopes up. If you are interested here is the video:

    Bandai DX VF-31

I hope Bandai does all the SHF Walkrure Girls. I need to recreate that picture:
  10. The RX-79-02 is build more like a Metal Build figure than the Fix Figuration Metal Composite one. So if you want more of that feeling you should be getting into the Metal Build line.... ...well you probably shouldn't since the preorder slots are similar limited than the Bandai DX Valkyries. Which means that you're probably awake when the clock hits 4PM in Japan bashing the f5 key. From my experience the preorder window is marginally wider. This might be because toy import shops (BBTS, TFSource, etc.) also provide preorders for the MG and Metal Composite toys since they can sell Gundams without getting HG involved.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Received my VF-25F from amiami this weekend. Everything is pristine (which makes me anxious of th white markings on my SV-262 that is on its way to me as we speak). Being able to look at the head up close I really do like the insectoid look of it especially with the sharp bright blue visor. I still prefer the RVF-25 when it comes to Gogo Dodo head turrets. Also every Delta Valkyrie so far makes me realize how much I hate the perfect transformation hands. Especially in combination with the beam gun-pod that even the fix-posed hands have a hard time to hold onto it and look somewhat decent holding the gun. I don't know why Bandai didn't continue with the Frontier design with a posable index finger and a tab and slot to hold the gun. There seems to be enough room in the hand cavity in the wing roots for that. I also preferred the range of motion on the hips of the Frontier DX Valkyries (not the execution). I always want to rotate the legs slightly outward at the hip joint to make it look natural. The rotation on the Gerwalk-joint breaks up the sculpt and is no natural movement. I think the execution in terms of longevity is superior but in terms of look I prefer the Frontier design. Other than that I love the look of these toys. I can't wait for Arads VF-31S that has a paint scheme and color choice that I adore. The fact that it has the best hear turret imho is just the cherry on top.
  12. I'm really having a hard time to answer this question. Since I'm rather new to the Macross toy collecting business I don't really ever owned many of the toys that rightfully deserve a mention in the worst toy category. I do own the GNU-DO Macross Plus toys but I got them basically for free so no harm done. I also don't have a Macross toy in my collection that I actively despise (with the exception of one). So please have mercy when you go over this section. The best: The Yamato VF-19F. This toy is the perfect mix of playability, sturdiness and high quality collectible. Everything I like in a collectible toy is present in this Valkyrie. Since this was also my first Yamato toy it left a lasting impression on me. The only negatives I have is the glossy plastic which makes it stand out in a collection of matte Valkyries and the fact that Yamato never produced the Super Parts for it. The Bandai Renewal VF-25 + Armored Parts. This beast is stunning. Among the things I love about is are the best painted missile warheads in the history of Macross toys ever (at least for the ones I own). Copious painted details (to a fault), transformable into all three modes with the armor attached (theoretically) and overall stunning looking. I love the Armored Fighter-Mode because it resembles the space fighter art I always gushed about on my game cartridges. I also love the look of the bare Fighter-Mode and the throwbacks to the Skull Squadron color coding from DYRL. The Arcadia VF-0 toys. Besides the issues with the legs (mine is fine for now) on the VF-0A I think these Valkyries are the better VF-1s. They feel awesome in hand: high quality plastic and material mix bring the Arcadia VF-0s onto this list. Plus points for doing the RA set for the VF-0S. Minor criticism for missing vital paint applications like the U.N.SPACY markings on the leg Honorable mentions go the the VF-31 Siegfried which would have made it to the list if it weren't for the awful poseable hands. Runners up would be the Bandai VF-171 (not the CF version) and the Yamato/Arcadia VF-4 The worst (not really): The Bandai YF-29 Fokker Custom. This is probably the only toy that deserves to be on this list. I like the mold but my copy has numerous issues. Super floppy hip joints so it can't stand up on its own, various paint scratches out of the box and warped head lasers (with no option for hard plastic ones). What doesn't help is that I bought it during the Renewal craze where I thought I never get a chance to get a YF-29 toy ever. So I payed a hefty markup at NY and shortly after that Bandai announced a reissue of the toy. I'm much happier with my YF-29 Alto and Ozma Custom. Odd nitpick: the box doesn't fit in with the other Renewal boxes The Yamato VF-17S. It is not really a bad toy but omitting all paint applications is sinful. I don't agree with the notion that it looks stealthier without them. I hate applying stickers to my collectibles especially if they are not cut correctly and you have to trim them yourself it never looks good because either you cut not enough of the transparent outline or you cut into the sticker. *sigh*. I also prefer the Bandai VF-171 over this. One thing would be the collapsing backpack that is not present on the VF-17. Another one would be the far better looking Battroid-Mode on the VF-171. The toy has some good qualities. I love the storage of the gun-pod in the legs and Yamato mostly nailed the sleek Fighter- and bulky Battroid-Mode look that seems impossible to do. One day I need to get myself a VF-17D (and a VF-19F). Now here is a controversial piece. The Arcadia VF-1 releases. Like the VF-17 the original Valkyrie this is a good toy. For the time of its release it was even a great one. However now that I have the VF-0s in hand I think the VF-1 could be much nicer. So why did the toy made it to the list. First I don't like how flimsy and hallow the legs feel. I prefer the heftier VF-0 legs . I also don't like the landing gear bay doors. They never seem to line up with the bays itself which makes me cringe every time I look at the Battroid-Mode. I also wished the shoulders would peg into the sides of the torso (this is also true for the new VF-0 toys). It doesn't help that Arcadia never released single Super Strike Packs for the VF-1 and now releasing bundle set after bundle set of the toys I already own (the VF-1S Hikaru and Fokker). To make it worse they release super expensive, super limited premium versions of the toy that I would be very interested in but for the asking price I don't need the same toy twice. Dishonorable mentions go to my VF-25S super loose hip joints and the black triangles on the VF-171CF. Like I said the VF-17 and VF-1 don't really belong to the worse list but from all the toys I own I wish they would be better than they are. I really would like to see a V3 VF-1 from Arcadia. Especially if they could incorporate all the stuff Bandai tried (but ultimately failed) with the 1/72 model (waist joint, leg delivery mechanism, ankle tilt) and combine that with the look & feel of the VF-0 toys I think they would make a great update to an undoubtedly good toy.

If I remember correctly Messer was flying his regular VF-31F when he shot down Hayate. The VF-1 looks stunning. Why no Super Strike Parts though? If they release some I might bite especially since this toy can stand on its own without needing a HMR collection surrounding it.
  14. Images of the Movie Masterpiece Optimus Prime: http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/04/27/official-masterpiece-movie-optimus-prime-images-details-337904 I have to say after the stellar RotF Leader Optimus prime I'm underwhelmed. I really hope the backpack is a transformation error. The lack of a faceplate also totally destroys any interest I had in this line (which was zero to begin with). [edit:] From the packaging photos it looks like it has a faceplate as well as a better way to transform the backpack:

    Bandai DX VF-31

is the blue stripe on the VF-31Fs beam gun-pod accurate to the animation? Sad to see that there are no changes to the PT hands. I think every thing about the Siegfried is better than the Messiah but the hands. Which brings the toy down a notch.

OMG even the box looks super cool.
  20. I really hope that they release a few suit variants from Metroid Prime: Corruption. Sadly this Samus doesn't seem to come with effect parts. I really wished for missile effects, Screw Attack effects, beam effects.
  21. In my opinion Make Toys Despotron is fun to transform. The only fiddly bit is bringing the upper part and the lower part of the gun together which is not that bad if you know what you are doing. All the rest is moving solid blocks into position. I also think it works best with Masterpiece Optimus Prime all the way to MP Ultra Magnus. Especially the often criticized face sculpt fits right in with the sculpts from MP-11 Starscream over Sideswipe and Prowl/Bluestreak since they look nothing like the G1 cartoon. Also the aesthetic of Despotron fit well with MP-10 since they both have super beefy legs. MP-38 Megatron fits well with Inferno/Grapple, Ironhide and Shockwave well as probably all the G1 Masterpiece that will be released next. MP-40 seems to be a good number for a super cartoon accurate Convoy and the MP Seeker mold is due for a renewal. The more I think about it the more impressed I am with Megatron even if he doesn't fit in my collection. I wonder what Takaras grand plan for the (G1) Masterpiece line will be. I'm not sure that I'm capable of putting a cartoon accurate penny racer Cliffjumper next to MP Bumblebee or a MP Jazz that hasn't a real alt-mode.
