  1. The Flametoys licensed, non transformable action figures seem to have a lot of potential. They showed three designs so far, all IDW inspired. Drift: Tarn: Star Saber: They seem to draw many inspirations from Bandais Metal Build line which is only a good thing in my opinion. They seem to be crazy expensive ($300 for a 8" Drift) but this is all up my alley. I begged MMC for years to do a IDW Star Saber so if they don't hurry up I might buy into this line. I'll wait till I see a review of Drift but I'm really stoked about what I'm seeing.
  2. ..and amiami still won't load for me at all. [edit:] Got the order confirmation from HLJ. Good night folks.
  3. Hm I completed the order process at HLJ but no notification and it doesn't show up in my current orders.
  4. I have no idea. Maybe they think that people have a chance to order more stuff. If a Macross and a Metal Build preorder go up on the same date at the same time I only can get one. Even if I want to buy to. Or they find out that the people who order are at work at that point. But for all that they need to ramp up the production numbers since most of it will sell out no matter what. On the other hand since amiami is one of the biggest etailers in Japan they have enough influence over Bandai to demand a shift to lessen the load on the servers during preorder periods. We noticed a lot of server slow downs during such releases which can't be good for the server infrastructure because it has basically the same effect as a DDoS attack.
  5. Well maybe amiami finally found out how to maximize the revenue they can make form hot items like this.
  6. What a bummer since I have to go to work. Oh well, maybe HLJ opens their preorders early.
  7. To those well versed in the Metal Build market I have a few questions about the Metal Build 00 Raiser What is a good price for one on the after market? Are there any known issues to the toy like the loose ankles on the first release of the Seven Sword? What are the chances Bandai reissues the 00 Raiser in the near future? And what does Mandarake mean by: 開封、使用、パッケージいたみ大 . From google translate I got that it is uses but no information about damage of the item by the previous owner
  8. Time to sell Feral Rex Sadly Dreadwind and Darkwing are no own molds otherwise I'd be interested. I'd really had high hopes that Maketoys would do them but they've been silent ever since they showed the silhouettes and I have no desire to own any KFC products.
  9. I use a thin plectrum and try to get to the sliding joint as close as possible so I don't stress the plastic of the bay doors. Then I try to pull the slider upwards.
  10. I managed to get a preorder for the SNES mini in at a local toy store since I had no chance ordering it from Amazon. Will see if they are able to secure enough stock when it's gonna be released. But I guess the chance of buying it potentially is better than not buying it at all.
  11. The Seven Sword looks stunning, can't wait till I can ship my from the PW. If I remember correctly the first release of the Seven Sword had loose ankle joints. From the video I could not tell if this is still the case. The Quan[t] also intrigues me but I'm not a fan of the inclusion of a LED. I hope it is unobtrusive enough so I don't notice it. I just can't wrap my head around why people want a light up feature in their toys.
  12. Saw the movie today and it was an enjoyable movie. However since it got this high praise from the critics makes me think that I should be grateful that I didn't watch BvS and Suicide Squad because these movies must be abysmal if Wonder Womand is miles ahead of the other ones. Also what I didn't understand watching the movie was:
  13. In other news here are the 3rd party slides form TFcon 2017: http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/07/15/tfcon-toronto-2017-3rd-party-panel-slides-full-343994 Nothing really interesting for me here with the exception of Fanstoys Cyclonus homage called Quietus and the announcement of TFC Toys doing a Abominus (Satan). Speacing of TFC Toys is there any buzz on the Interwebs that they plan on releasing their Seacons in the G1 toy colors? Something about the color choices of the reds and greens doesn't seem right to me. I'd also would greatly appreciate it if they would do away with the light piped eyes and paint them properly
  14. Before we get into all the new 3rd party reveals at TFcon I would like to know from the people in this thread think about the chrome red pieces on Phoenix legs. Most of the test shot reviews of Phoenix state that they are not happy with Fans Toys choice on the red parts being a different color than the rest of the red accents. I for myself applaud them for making this decision because it looks stunning. It is the same principle why I think I adore the different shades of gray on my Gunpla model kits (RGs and MGs) because they break up a monotone area of plastic with an interesting to look at effect. I guess this is more difficult to pull of on a toy that is not broke up by an inner frame that is peeking through the armor plating like you have on a (G1) Transformer. However this makes me what to see this technique on a predominately white Transformer so I know what it would look like. I think MMCs Seraphicus Prominon would be a good canvas for that. On the other hand I don't know that would bode well with Transformers fans because of all the flag Fans Toys got for the red highlights on Phoenix legs and one Transformers guy I know of complaining that Bandai included some discolored sprues into his RG box.
  15. I made a countdown timer for the Quan[T] preorder: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/taxday?iso=20170728T16&p0=248&msg=MB+Quan[T]+Preorder&font=sanserif

    Hi-Metal R

Got a preorder in for the VF-2SS from HLJ. It is somewhat concerning, that it is still available but a potential unit is better than no unit at all.
  17. I wonder what a toy Jetfire would look like if a 3rd party would tackle him. If they don't draw any inspiration from the modern VF-1 toys and it is as sturdy and well designed as some of the toys from the top tier companies it could be a quite interesting item. I think if a toy designer creates a VF toy he starts with certain preconceptions of how they finished product should look like. If you get rid of all those you could end up with something complete different while still have the same base design. It is hard to explain what I'm trying to say though.
  18. Phoenix is pretty good however I have a few nitpicks regarding the figure. One would be the construction of the main chest piece where you can see a seam line. I guess it was easier to construct it that way and it is not as distracting as the gate marks on MP Ultra Magnus' forearms but it is still visible when you know it is there. Other stuff I don't like is the fact that you can see the sliding grooves for the backpack extension in alt-mode. It is only a few millimeters but still distracting to me. I also wished that the feet had some sort of exhaust molded into them in jet mode. Something like the pieces on the Time Machine from Back to the Future 2. It would make the thruster reveal in bot mode awesome now they are just pointless. Like I said nitpicks. The only real issue for me is the gun that would be much more awesome if it could transform into a block that is attaches between the thrusters because I like integrated weapon storage and the gun would lend itself to that since it is so big. I'd also like to know the story behind the waist joint. The assembly doesn't serve any function and is fairly involved since the backpack is attached to it but is still able to rotate. It is also very well placed and would make for a natural looking swivel. I think they designed it with a waist joint in mind but noticed during the test shot phase that it would not be stable enough for extended play and thus scratched it or that the range of motion was not large enough to compromise the design of the toy. And while I like Phoenix a lot I think I would rate FTs Stomp higher because it is a more interesting figure. The design of Jetfire is just too plain in the G1 cartoon and since he never had a toy they couldn't draw any inspiration from that either which makes for a unique but bland design... ...which fits perfectly with the bland MP releases like Ironhide, Inferno and Grapple.
  19. Not looking forward for the amount of funds this will draw from my toy budget but I'd rather give Arcadia my money instead of paying the aftermarket prices for the Yamato version. I'm super excited for this and wonder if and how much will be different. If I remember correctly the Yamato version came with turrets on sprues that needed to be cut out and installed. Maybe with this version they already come installed... but I doubt it.
  20. Well the gun can peg onto the inside of the leg thrusters but that looks pretty odd. Some one need to do an addon set with a gun that transforms into a block that fills out the gap between the legs. The figure itself is a white beast. Which makes it a nightmare if it will start to yellow one day. The only issue so far seems to be the peg that keeps the backpack in place in robot mode. The peg is prone to breaking when dislodged incorrectly. It even has a functional waist swivel which is rather limited and makes not as solid since you need to disconnect the hips from the main body.
  21. I still want a MB Justice Gundam. I welcome the new Metal Build release from 00. I still need to get a 00 Raiser which is one of my favorite Gundam design. It is pretty odd that I still don't have one. Oh well maybe they will reissue it down the line.
  22. I wonder if I should buy a MP-12+ Lambor since my original toy of Lambor is this shoddy QC mess. I wonder if the toy will still be painted with a Lamborghini approved paint. The new images make it look like it is either painted in a different, brighter color or cast in plastic which seems to be a good choice. http://news.tfw2005.com/2017/06/04/masterpiece-mp-12-sideswipe-official-images-340593
  23. Trans5mers Voyager Megatron review by Vangelus: This looks great and I feel I need to break my rule not buying any movie toys. I can't believe HasTak managed to do a proper looking jet that Transforms in a robot like this. Please bring this engineering to some other toys from the more G1 focused lines. [edit:] Noticed that this is probably the wrong thread for this post. Maybe a mod wants to move this to the Transformers toy thread.
