  1. Clearly the Hasbro one, since it is official. It is disappointing to see, that even with Swoop being the smallest Dinobot, being a Leader Class toy in the Studio Series and doesn’t come with any slug figures his wingspan is so tiny. It is my understanding that the Dinobots have been great so far so it is sad to see that Swoop seems to be lacking. Oh well, there will surely be an add on set with bigger wings and better legs for alt-mode so you can have a good Swoop for merely $49 more.

Here is a link to the Workshop section of the MWF boards: https://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/forum/23-the-workshop/ Hope that helps.
  3. Well, the first 6 six releases in the MPG line felt like someones first Transformer (engineering wise) so I don’t have a hard time believing that this is not mistransformed. However, I hope this is not the case. I guess we will find out on 04/10 when the toy is officially revealed. I wonder what the connection between MP-60 Ginrai and MPG-09 Super Ginrai is.
  4. @jvmacross new preorder HMR VF-19 Kai (WWM): https://tamashiiweb.com/item/14852 HMR VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie PO Date: 05 April 2024 Release: Aug 2024 Price: Yen 14,300, inclusive 10% domestic tax Available worldwide (WWM
  5. I think the thighs are chromed or painted silver and that is why they look fairly dark (which could be read as shadows cast by hollow bits). I don’t have a good explanation for the arms sticking up in alt-mode tough.
  6. I'm confused but I will wait for the final reveal. These low resolution images are not helping. If, what the images indicating is correct (hollow thighs, the arms bot folding down in truck mode). I will wait for the Fans Toys one or don’t bother at all. Again, need some officially product shots first.
  7. @Seto Kaiba: what @MacrossJunkie said. For the release of the Lion JoyToy wasn’t able/wasn‘t allowed to sculpt the Arma Luminis pistol so he only comes with the gun in the holster as it appeared on the mini. I sometimes see that they add different items than what the mini the toy is based on had. But I assume this is only the case were an official model from GW exists. So I assume a Demon Primarch Magnus will come with all the heads the mini had (maybe even cast of armor) while the Horus Heresy one will only have the one head depicted above.
  8. Interesting that it is not labeled as an MPG release, contrary to what the first rumors said.
  9. You and me both. At this time all I want is a copy of the despecialized cut of the original trilogy I saw as a kid. I guess this is not a singular sentiment which makes it even puzzling to me why they didn’t try to set the story earlier: new characters, new aesthetics, new story beats, less baggage. The only thing I can come up with is that the marketing people at Disney think, that the Prequel era is popular thanks to the success of the Clone Wars show so they want to capitalize on that. In my perception most of the fandom is burnt out on some aspect of the Skywalker saga timeframe so to me the key to success is abandoning that narrative altogether. The KotoR setting was chosen exactly because it was so far removed so that they didn’t have to deal with the baggage from the main media, but it was familiar enough to recognize it as Star Wars.
  10. To me the differences boil down to: Metal Build: stylized designs from mostly non UC suits Metal Composite: designs of mostly UC suits true to the designs of Katoki Hajime Chogokin: adapted Gunpla designs (from what I can tell) made into action figures Other than that, they all are roughly 1/100 scale, have die cast, paint and plastic (though distribution and amount will vary), come with display stands and lots of accessories. From my experience with owning Metal Build and Metal Composite figures and seeing reviews of the Chogokin line, the MB/MC ones are of higher quality compared to the Chogokin line, especially when it comes to the sharpness of the molding. However, the quality of the Metal Composite line drastically improved with the Gundam Wing releases (I think it was even branded as Metal Composite x Metal Build in the beginning). I think you made the right choice in going with the Strike Gundam. While I am not a fan of the design I think it is the best made Metal Build release so far (though the Hi Nu is pretty great too).
  11. Spot on. Now it looks even more like the Yamato one. Now I'm a bit in a pickle. I want to buy one HMR VF-19. Normally I would gravitate towards a VF-19S. However, if Bandai is really planning to release the other Fire Bomber Valkyries it would be a shame not having the Kai to display them with. Decisions, decisions…
  12. Did Disney buy more than the streaming rights for the West?
  13. Looks very similar to the Yamato version. The only difference I could spot was the spine section. It seems like the LERX fold backwards onto the hip joints. As a result the canards don’t fold in as nicely onto the spine. I would also like to know how the shield is going to work. Will it have a second replacement shield for fighter mode or can the "animation accurate" one be used in both modes. Also, the non transformation hands look gigantic.
  14. I could care less about who is streaming Macross (though it might nudge me into subscribing to Disney+). What I want is official licensed BlueRays with good subtitles of the Macross shows like we are getting with the M2 Kickstarter.
  15. The problem with these prequels is also, that with a couple of hundred years between the Skywalker saga and any new iteration of Star Wars, this means Yoda is still around. Presumably on the Jedi Council too. And didn’t Yoda state that there hasn’t been a Sith for over 1000 years in the prequels? So why not put a new iteration before Yoda and before the Sith went into hiding? This just invites criticism that could have been easily avoided.

  17. Figma TotK Link is up for preorder (standard and deluxe version) Standard (¥9000 02/25): https://www.amiami.com/eng/detail?gcode=FIGURE-167714 Deluxe (¥16800 02/25): https://www.amiami.com/eng/detail?gcode=FIGURE-167686 Minor rant incoming: why does a figure from a mediocre game comes as a DX version with stuff no one asked for but we don’t get a single weapon effect part for Dread Samus Aran (from a stellar game)???
  18. Preorders for JoyToy Sigismund are already up: https://www.bombusbee.net/joytoy-jt9237-first-captain-of-the-imperial-fists-p6954.html
  19. It seems to be in line with the original game. I never wanted to breed Chocobos in FF7 but somehow I spend way to much time on it. KotR Materia isn’t even that good! Joking aside, I know that feeling all to well that in order to complete the game for you, you feel the necessity to do all of this filler content even if you know you could do something better with your time. Reminds me that I'm not a carefree young adult any more that could sink 100s of hours into a video game.
  20. Saw the movie yesterday and I think it neatly wrapped up the story if they don’t do any more movies afterwards. All in all I found the end of the movie not as fulfilling as the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter ones (quality notwithstanding). But it’s been a while since I read the first book. Overall, I think the movie could have been a lot weirder and trippier in its aesthetics but maybe I'm too old. Other than that the movie was pretty stellar. Acting, cinematography, special effects, all top notch. I had some instances where the dialog was not up to par but that could be because it was a dubed version. What I find interesting that the movie is riding a fine line of the "show not tell" approach. While the first movie might have been too much for the general audience I think they reduced it a bit in the second movie with Irulan narrating events in the movie in an effort to help the audience to understand what is going on. But it is hard for me to tell since I read to book beforehand and have already a good understanding what is going on.
  21. While I'm happy for the success I was asking my self if the backer numbers should be significantly higher than both Star Saber and Deathsaurus. It is an Optimus Prime, the hero of a cartoon that ran on TV in the West. It should have sold gangbusters. Now it seems that the same people who backed the two Victory campaigns also backed Prime (oversimplification). I wonder if one could extrapolate the number of adult fans of the Transformers brand based on these numbers. Did 10% of the fanbase bought Omega Prime? That would mean a fanbase of 300k adult collectors worldwide, or did 90% back him that would mean 30k. And if the collector market makes up 20% of all sales does that mean a standard run of a retail Prime are 1.5m units or just 150k? Again this is all an oversimplification but it is fun to guesstimate nonetheless. [edit:] Sorry if the math is wrong, I just woke up
  22. Had some time to fiddle with my Super7 Ultimates Tarn and I am puzzled for whom this line is for. Everything of the figure us bad (paint, sculpt, articulation, sculpt, handling, materials, joint friction) and with $55 it is relatively expensive. Only the accessories are plentiful. I could see that if you are a fan of a design that never gets any toys (like Banzaitron) but maybe I wouldn’t even buy it then. And Tarn got plenty of toys from official to high end variants. Im utterly baffled how this is a thing. Maybe it is some kind of Transformers sub fandom or a variant of the Jumbo Machinder fandom but at a smaller scale?
  23. I think the problem is that some things take ages to come out probably because the market has cooled down considerably. I feel like MMC is in a good spot (looking forward to Ignis) and their combiners target a different market. Their Devastator is probably fun to handle too. Looks interesting, I wonder if the threads for the shoulders collapses or if they will be this… compact in alt mode too:
