  1. I saw this prototype of a transforming Genesic GaoGaiGar at the Shizuoka Hobby Show but couldn’t find out if it is a model kit or a toy. It was announced under the Amankuni HobbyJapan line that already released an excellent Genesic toy produced by Sentinel:
  2. I agree with you that the bad writing (and bad planning) is also a problem especially in the sequel trilogy. However, if Disney - after buying the rights to Star Wars for $4B and 12 years of trying - is not able to put out something halfway descent as their batting average the problem might not be the writers, directors or producers (because I‘m sure they tried out any possible combination). Maybe something of the magic of Star Wars is lost forever to time. Maybe the sensibilities of the audience changed or when the movie making constraints of the OT are lifted you just make generic crap. Maybe the whole creation of the OT was a happy accident that can’t be recreated. ANH was reportedly a mess before it was re-cut by George Luca‘s then wife and for some reason ESB turned out to be a cinematic masterpiece. And by ROTJ (which I love) you can already see a downturn in quality. Only sometimes when all the stars align you create another happy accident.
  3. Given how the majority of Star Wars is pretty mediocre to bad overall.* I think George Lucas did the right thing in selling off the franchise. Maybe the setting is good for three movies and falls apart when looking at it too closely. *Yes there is KotoR, Clone Wars TV and Rogue One/Andor.
  4. It is from Gundam Build Fighters: Try and is a custom build designed and build by a lunatic (in a good way) Gunpla prodigy. Everyone in the show is shocked when they see the "Super Robot" mode. It looks good but I feel it doesn’t fit well into a Metal Build collection since it has none of the arbitrary markings.
  5. @mikeszekely for the allocation of the effect parts you could just go through all your reviews and look them up. It is a real shame that current Hasbro/Takara designers are trying to faithfully recreate the original toy/animation model as faithful as possible. I feel there was a period in the past were Magmatron would have been a stylized version of the original toy with a perfect transformation that wouldn’t require half of Seasaurus to be out aside as an accessory (but with the option to do so). On the other hand these faithful recreations probably help to sell the toy and make it viable to release as Commander Class in the first place.
  6. Yes, finally. I feel like my Mafex X-Men will be completed. Everything else will be a bonus. It looks like Rogue will have a softgoods jacket. Not sure how I feel about it.
  7. I‘m conflicted. I don’t want to collect another line but I really love the Build Fighters (Try) designs so I want to give Bandai an incentive to do more.
  8. Available at Anime Export (¥41800, pay now): https://www.anime-export.com/index.php?product=80335 [edit:] sold out (05/17/24) [edit 2:] available again (05/18/24)
  9. New Metal Build Release: Gundam Dynames Saga Price: ¥37,400 PO starts: 05/17/24 Release: 09/24 Link: https://p-bandai.jp/item/item-1000208982/?_ga=2.227798549.942122451.1715815132-277583773.1715815132
  10. Wait, Sauron is a regularly sized minifig? He always struck me as taller as a regular human, maybe troll sized.
  11. Some impressions from the model exhibition at this year’s Shizuoka Hobby Show:
  12. With regards to the AMT Rodimus I wonder how expensive it will be. He seems to be roughly the size of K^3 Rodimus and the prototype is painted the same way (maybe with reduced detail, hard to tell without the K^3 next to it). Plus someone already posted that it will have die cast metal parts. So if it is the same scale, has the same amount of paint, the same material mix and has the added complexity of a transformation I can see the AMT Rodimus being as expensive (because it doesn’t come with all the useless accessories K^3 Rodimus) as the non transforming Flame Toys one. I wonder if Transformers fans are willing to spend as much for a transforming IDW Rodimus that don’t have the Flame Toys version already. Personally I want Takara to leave the Flame Toys designs alone. I want Flame Toys to release more K^3 figures and not force a transformation mechanism into them or compromise their designs in order to be transformable. One commenter mentioned that maybe Flame Toys releases aren’t selling as well as expected and thus they want to recoup money by collaborating with Takara. I can also seeing it the other way round: Takara is trying to capitalize on the success of Flame Toys.
  13. I had the chance to visit the Shizuoka Hobby Show today and was able to take some pictures from the Takara booth. Please enjoy:
  14. Here is my image from the show
  15. Are you going to transform it? I‘m super interested how the toy holds up after all these years.
  16. The new wave of Mega Man toys is available for preorder at BBTS: https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Search?Brand=1755&Company=341&o=1
  17. Very nice, definite buy. I think Elecman was the first Robot Master I ever defeated when I played Mega Man for the first time on my Game Boy.
  18. I‘m disappointed in the Lego Artemis 1 set. The start ramp takes up most of the bricks (I read somewhere that it’s 22/27 bags in the set). The rocket is significantly smaller than the Lego Saturn V, even if the team rockets are almost the same size. And the set comes with copious small stickers that will be a nightmare to align. 19. I preordered one from HLJ, thanks.
  20. I thought the idea is that after WW2 they diverted from our reality by focusing their effort on developing better nuclear fission reactors instead of going the integrated circuit route our reality took. So it’s not like they were stagnant for a long time. All their electronics look a bit old fashioned (i.e. CRT based) but powered by mini nuclear reactors. It was how the game designers envisioned in the late 90s (at a time were the whole flat LCD screen in your hand aesthetic wasn’t a thing) to signify that the Fallout universe is different from ours but still familiar and the franchise ran with it
  21. I might have to get the Hot Toys Darth Revan. How much is the MSRP? HLJ has it for ¥40000 but I guess they have to import stock from HK so that might not be the best route to go.
