  1. Images for the Lego Icons Lamborghini Countach are out and the set is available for preorder: https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/lamborghini-countach-5000-quattrovalvole-10337 Not a fan of the color (will yellow) or the shape of the hood but I don’t know what you could do with lego bricks to get it right.
  2. It’s available now at AllTheAnime: https://www.alltheanime.com/products/macross-plus-ultimate-edition-blu-ray £99.99 with £15 shipping cost to continental Europe ($147/€135). Crunchyroll store: https://store.crunchyroll.com/products/macross-plus-movie-ova-blu-ray-ultimate-edition-5037899090312.html $189.99
  3. Is there a reference how big Overlord would be compared to God Ginrai? really want a good looking G1 Overlord but the original toy is so damn expensive. I don’t know if Takara is able to produce what I want though.
  4. Decided to place an order with amiami since it was still available for preorder in Europe this morning. I really want Tamashii Nations to make more Build Fighter Try suits.
  5. Preorder link for the SoC Tryon 3: amiami (06/04/24 11 am JST ¥38800): https://www.amiami.com/eng/detail?gcode=FIGURE-170912 [edit:] sold out again
  6. @M'Kyuun right, and even Hasbro is trying to unify even different universes into the G1 aesthetic and style with the main line. But somehow the premier collector line, the best Transformer possible is this hodgepodge of different elements.
  7. @Seto Kaiba to be fair every major event in Star Wars takes place on the same 5 planets so I assume those people are quite used to Jedi shenanigans while the rest of the Galaxy far far away has never seen nor heard of them.
  8. I think Takara missed a big opportunity to give their collector line a unified style and scale. The Masterpiece line was a mess in terms of scale, style, approach and quality all the way from MP-01 to MP-60 and should have been rebooted several times (MP-10 Optimus Prime, MP-29 Laserwave, MP-32 Optimus Primal). And it housed some of the worst toys in my collection. Yet with MPG, the first release, Raiden, was a special design to incorporate as accurate as possible trains, with realistic details that are in scale to one another. MPG Super Ginrai is a super toon accurate version, that doesn’t fit together with Raiden and now they are releasing the Ironhide mold that doesn’t know if if wants to be full toon or follow the old MP-10 style and an obscure repaint of Trailbreaker. *sigh* Most of the other collector oriented lines I collect (like Metal Build Gundams or Kuro Kara Kuri Transformers) have a coherent vision and style even if they are long running lines too. With Metal Build being released since 2011 (the year MP-09 and 10 where released) and they all look good together on a shelf. But the MP line (and all the 3rd party companies following their lead) never had something like that and it is a shame that Takara let that opportunity pass. Maybe I‘m an anomaly as a collector but I always imagined that consistency in a collection was key for most other collectors (otherwise why would you collect a line of toys). For example this is the reason why I don’t want the Lego Minifig to change so all my Lego sets are consistent.
  9. A picture of the toy I took at the Tanashii Nations showroom:
  10. Some more Super Robot images from the Tamashii Nations showroom:
  11. I compared the MPG Super Ginrai to a A4 leaflet they handed out at the show and he is roughly as tall as the leaflet (297 mm/11.7 in) so I think 30 cm it’s a good estimate.
  12. The Chogokin Sazabi is available at Anime Export for ¥74800: https://www.anime-export.com/index.php?product=80812 I found the figure pretty underwhelming in person:
  13. I‘m lukewarm on the Zelda set. The Deku Tree is probably the most boring think they could have decided on. Figure selection is also meh.
  14. Let‘s hope Anime Limited does most of the Macross shows/movies so that the releases look nice and coherent on the shelf. With Macross 2 being done by AnimEigo as a Kickstarter the whole Macross collection will already not be consistent. Won‘t somebody please think of the collectors…
  15. I think you are correct, here is a machine translation:
  16. I saw this prototype of a transforming Genesic GaoGaiGar at the Shizuoka Hobby Show but couldn’t find out if it is a model kit or a toy. It was announced under the Amankuni HobbyJapan line that already released an excellent Genesic toy produced by Sentinel:
  17. I agree with you that the bad writing (and bad planning) is also a problem especially in the sequel trilogy. However, if Disney - after buying the rights to Star Wars for $4B and 12 years of trying - is not able to put out something halfway descent as their batting average the problem might not be the writers, directors or producers (because I‘m sure they tried out any possible combination). Maybe something of the magic of Star Wars is lost forever to time. Maybe the sensibilities of the audience changed or when the movie making constraints of the OT are lifted you just make generic crap. Maybe the whole creation of the OT was a happy accident that can’t be recreated. ANH was reportedly a mess before it was re-cut by George Luca‘s then wife and for some reason ESB turned out to be a cinematic masterpiece. And by ROTJ (which I love) you can already see a downturn in quality. Only sometimes when all the stars align you create another happy accident.
  18. Given how the majority of Star Wars is pretty mediocre to bad overall.* I think George Lucas did the right thing in selling off the franchise. Maybe the setting is good for three movies and falls apart when looking at it too closely. *Yes there is KotoR, Clone Wars TV and Rogue One/Andor.
  19. It is from Gundam Build Fighters: Try and is a custom build designed and build by a lunatic (in a good way) Gunpla prodigy. Everyone in the show is shocked when they see the "Super Robot" mode. It looks good but I feel it doesn’t fit well into a Metal Build collection since it has none of the arbitrary markings.
  20. @mikeszekely for the allocation of the effect parts you could just go through all your reviews and look them up. It is a real shame that current Hasbro/Takara designers are trying to faithfully recreate the original toy/animation model as faithful as possible. I feel there was a period in the past were Magmatron would have been a stylized version of the original toy with a perfect transformation that wouldn’t require half of Seasaurus to be out aside as an accessory (but with the option to do so). On the other hand these faithful recreations probably help to sell the toy and make it viable to release as Commander Class in the first place.
  21. Yes, finally. I feel like my Mafex X-Men will be completed. Everything else will be a bonus. It looks like Rogue will have a softgoods jacket. Not sure how I feel about it.
  22. I‘m conflicted. I don’t want to collect another line but I really love the Build Fighters (Try) designs so I want to give Bandai an incentive to do more.
  23. Available at Anime Export (¥41800, pay now): https://www.anime-export.com/index.php?product=80335 [edit:] sold out (05/17/24) [edit 2:] available again (05/18/24)
  24. New Metal Build Release: Gundam Dynames Saga Price: ¥37,400 PO starts: 05/17/24 Release: 09/24 Link: https://p-bandai.jp/item/item-1000208982/?_ga=2.227798549.942122451.1715815132-277583773.1715815132
