  1. I have no doubt that someone will release this or the whole thing to normal retail. The idea of them making a new transfer and not trying to get a larger audience is crazy. Also, did everyone check out the video? The guy was talking about crying over that Largo cel but behind him is a large cel of Priss from Crash with it looks like the matching background. That's far better than the Largo cel. I wonder what else he has stashed that he's keeping to himself. I knew this would be successful. I hope they start putting up ideas soon since they have the money. They keep adding stuff after the fact like old domestic promo posters and the chance to recut some music videos. No real talk of this Ultimate Set yet.
  2. Yes the Star Wars films can get worse. I didn't like the Prequels that much either. But I got what George Lucas was trying to do and say. Even if it messed with the Original Trilogy. With Abrams on Star Wars, going from the stuff I've been reading, even though he points out a lot of fandom stuff like this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_joDNOpeWWo There is still the chance of Red Orbs powering the new Death Star (or whatever big weapon), the Bad Robot droids being around, homage shots just to have them without meaning, and other dumb stuff. And don't forget just like people thinking that Star Trek needed the original crew. People think Star Wars needs the original cast. It doesn't. It just needs cool Space Western characters. Not kids, cartoon rabbits, and all the other bad stuff from the Prequels.
  3. That Mustang on Car and Driver is fake. But it's the best look I've seen complete with the rip off Aston Martin front. If it looks close to that I might consider it. I've always wanted a Mustang. But I think the interior will suck. At least going from the spy pictures I've seen.
  4. This is a good one. I think I saw this one or another Mospeada hanken at Anime-Link once. I saw someone with a similar setup once. I can't remember if it was at a gallery of some kind or at Disney World. But it's a cool setup.
  5. I need to start watching this show. I guess Adam Hughes likes it too. He made this for the New York Comic Convention.
  6. Really, I thought she was between 18 and 20. I need to check my Robotech books. If those are anything to go by. But nice cyclone. I'm starting to believe that no company wants to release this.
  7. I don't know why Hot Toys hides the joints/seams on some figures and doesn't on others. It's like they don't want people to forget that they are making figures. I've seen many photos where if you didn't know what you were looking at, you would think you are looking at a photo of a person. The Bale and Keaton Batman figures in particular.
  8. I remember crash stories of the Ford GT too. People with a lot of money and little driving skill think they can floor a car, a computer will save them from any situation on the road, or they can remove the computer because they are that good. This one with the new Ferrari is sad but one of my favorites because I saw a gif that someone added a banana from Mario Kart. The new Mustang is supposed to be previewed this week. But we might not see it for another month or so. I wish these select shows to certain people so they can get their reviews right would stop. Maybe someone will have some guts and leak the photos.
  9. The Kickstarter was updated again. I had some ideas for this BGC project and want to get it out there. I don’t have a Kickstarter account. And don’t want to sign up for Animeigo’s forum. As it seems people are fairly content with what Animeigo is offering right now. To me this feels like the “we can sell desperate older anime fans anything version” instead of the “Ultimate Edition.” Also, this is what I believe the person in charge posted: “Testing the business model is a big reason we are doing this -- not just for re-releasing stuff we’ve done in the past, but also for doing projects we wanted to do but couldn’t justify.” There can be a “business model” for anything. And I really dislike the idea that they are “testing” this with BGC. That they can’t “justify” doing BGC even though this is the same company that released it multiple times on DVD. Not to mention the number of times it was released on VHS. I have the original release in the plastic cases. But I remember seeing some in paper sleeves too and of course the English versions. Also, it is on Blu-ray in Japan and they still can’t “justify” it. It doesn’t make the slightest bit of sense. Except if they know it won’t make the sort of money they want so they say we’ll let the fans fund and come up with all the ideas and call it the “Ultimate Edition” even though it’s far from that. I can’t believe this is the same company that released BGC to begin with. Anyway my ideas for a true “Ultimate Edition” or at the least how I would setup the Kickstarter and inform fans of what’s going to happen: 1. New transfer. They need to compare old Remastered version (perhaps even the 1999 version as well) to the current Japanese HD version and make a project goal screen capture so we see that this new transfer is worth it. Confirm that the Blu-ray will be released as a normal edition in 2015. Because it will. Saying it might is lying when they are doing this new transfer. I’m pretty sure now the reason I’m still upset about that Macross set was because it was sold as a limited offer and I thought I wasn’t going to be able to get it afterwards. Besides, all the successful Kickstarter projects I’ve noticed get normal releases. Anyway, they need to make it clear that they want to do something special for BGC fans. To make this the final BGC Collection to own. Even though companies rarely say they won’t release a title again but this should really be it. 2. It should be clear that this stuff will not make the standard release. That this is the “limited” version that some editions get. 3. Full color booklets with backstory, character bios, mech designs, episode synopsis, + creator profiles. This should be included. I don’t think Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers was that popular. Yet it received the full series in two volumes with slipcases and full color booklets in both. Here is a review of the first set: 4. Custom disc artwork voted by funders. The standard release will not get this artwork at all. We should know the standard edition’s artwork so we know we are getting something cool. 5. USB Stick inspired by Hardsuit designs - Priss, Sylia, Nene, and Linna versions. Since they seem set on the idea of giving people all the materials on a flash drive. Which I don’t need since I have all the books and most of everything else. So I don’t think there will be anything I haven’t seen. These shouldn’t just be different colored sticks but need to actually be designed. They should look like they could attach to a hardsuit. There should have been a vote for the most popular Knight Saber. The voting could have been setup before the Kickstarter so it’s a surprise. Higher funders will get all the knight saber USB sticks. I don’t know if the others should be based on popularity poll. Or just an equal number for the lower level donations. 6. Steelbook with original artwork and interior artwork. I think the idea of the steelbook should go well with the Knight Sabers suits. 7. New Kenichi Sonoda artwork for the steelbook? I think he drew the Japanese Blu-ray box artwork. Not sure. But I don’t like it as much as his original artwork. But this could be an idea. 8. New commentary from some of the creators: Kenichi Sonoda, Shinji Aramaki, and others? 9. Promo poster. There were a bunch of BGC posters released. Probably the best one or the one I missed is this one with Priss and her Motoslave. 10. Pencil Box with artwork on top and sides. I'm still looking for a good anime pencil box. I was thinking about getting this Macross DYRL one a while back: 11. Soundtrack with select songs. I use select because BGC fans know a CD was released for every episode. Plus, a two volume vocal collection soundtrack. Also, a three disc complete vocal collection set was released. So a complete soundtrack would be too much. 12. AD Police - Separate steelbook. High fund level. Or separate Kickstarter project. 13. Crash! - Separate steelbook. High fund level. Or separate Kickstarter project. 14. Steelcase for whole set if AD Police and Crash! goals are reached. This could be similar to the Paul Champagne case I have for BGC now. I don’t think there is a steelbook out there that will hold all the Blu-rays and a booklet. They could use the items as incentives for the lower fund levels depending on the production cost. For example, the poster at $15, the pencil case at $25, and the USB stick at $35. Leading up to the Basic DVD Box set at $50 and the Premium with everything at $100 or more. Keep layering everything. The financial stuff is easy once you check out the costs. Right now the idea of the set and a trinket coin isn’t exciting me at all.
  10. That looks incredibly tame. I was hoping for something special with the new Mustang too after seeing the Corvette. I like the new Corvette in a way. Even though they probably tried to make it look too exotic. This looks better. Usually the renders are off. I can't remember a render that was accurate. Well the 348 was after the Mondial and that isn't the best Ferrari. But the NSX was and still is known as one of the best Japanese sportscars. It's still top three I would think. Although I never liked the exterior design of it. Perhaps Honda getting back into F1 with the engines will make them create something interesting.
  11. I was looking for the car talk too. Anyway, You know your movie is bad when the people behind it or others feel the need to now explain why your main bad guy doesn't look the way he should in a prequel / aftermath comic. Star Trek into Darkness: Khan Comic Preview: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&id=18544
  12. The Ferrari was around $125,000 back then. The Spider a bit more. And the Spider had more weight too because of the convertable. Enough to reduce the 0-60 time by I think a second. I can't remember but I have a lot of F355 material around here somewhere. Even though a modified Supra could beat a Ferrari in 0-60 it's still not a better car. Nor does it handle or sound anywhere near as good as a Ferrari.
  13. I don't know when this whole reducing Vader thing started. But all it does is make the originals far superior to the prequels or any of these new spinoff series. Vader was a scary guy in the OT. I hope the upcoming movies ignore all this new stuff but since George Lucas was actually writing/plotting this new series before the sell and Abrams is directing, I'm not expecting anything close to the OT in terms of greatness.
  14. No way that's happening. I'm still waiting on a better Motoslave too. The cels they are offering at the high levels aren't even that special. I've seen many better ones in Rubberslug galleries. There is even a similar one of Largo and a good Priss one on eBay now. The Priss one is $200+ with a best offer option. I would take that Priss cel and wait for the BGC Blu-ray at discount in 2015.
  15. They are already talking about needing a lot more than $100,000 to have AD Police. And Crash is almost out of the question it seems like. Some are even talking about new English dubs. It's getting crazy already and no real talk of the extras except a few posts about throwaway keychains and USB sticks. I've never seen AD Police. I will eventually. Not sure I really need Crash on Blu-ray. I only like the intro. The show is inferior to the original. --The Kickstarter was just updated with maybe the final version-- I'm fairly 100% sure I'm not getting this version. At least the Kickstarter version. I'll get the Japanese version or wait for the normal Animeigo release that will go to retail. This is the part that I have the most trouble with. "You come up with the ideas... we'll figure out if they are feasible and how much they'll cost... and then everyone will get to vote on how the budget gets allocated." So basically give them as much money as you can. Come up with the ideas because they are too lazy to do it. Then they will see what the cost is and if it can be included after they put everything that should be in a standard release in the set. They'll still call it an "Ultimate Edition" even though it's basically a "Kickstarter Edition" as this could have just those small trinkets as a bonus. I have better ideas for an "Ultimate Edition" right now and I've only spent a few minutes thinking about it.
  16. They really don't want to give up on the Darth Maul inspired characters. And continuing to lessen the impact of Darth Vader. Unless the new movies are really special, I'm just about finished getting Star Wars stuff. Sticking to the classic OT DVDs and the few figures that come out from the series that were good. Like that Kotobukiya Mara figure.
  17. I think you guys are missing that this is called the "Ultimate Edition Box Set" yet there is nothing "Ultimate" about it so far. The only thing almost guaranteed is a new transfer. Which I'm not sure is really needed. It's something for Animeigo to pat themselves on the back about afterwards. And watch as fanboys debate which transfer is the best on the forums. I was searching around and I found a post on Fandompost that kind of suggested that this Kickstarter was supposed to be private. Or at least for a while. But even now, since people know about it you would think that Animeigo would have the prices and box set extras and materials listed on site. Many people say how some Kickstarter projects are like asking for handouts. That is what this seems like to me. There are tons of anime shows released on DVD/Blu-ray. Some are successful and some not. That's part of business. If they want my $100+ for this project they are going to have to set this up a lot better.
  18. The Macross set was in the early days of DVD. But I think it was sold as a limited rare chance too. I rarely if ever get complete cartoon series. Because I knew even back then that there was the chance for an HD version. And other reasons. I can't remember why I got Macross when I did. I still don't have or have I even watched all of the original Southern Cross or Mospeada. Something pushed me to get that Macross set. I think that's why I'm still a bit upset about that price and the cheap prices afterwards. Now the question is why did Animeigo let the Macross license go? They are holding onto BGC and other licenses. Their last BGC release was in 2004. That was the remastered version. Before that there was a set released in 1999. I vaguely remember that something was off with one of these sets. Perhaps there was a third set I'm forgetting. This does start to feel like the whole Robotech situation with tons of releases and sitting on a license. I found a bunch of the current Japanese BGC Blu-ray on Amazon in the $130 range. Also, I noticed that the Kickstarter has been updated. This still doesn't feel right. The lower options are now gone and it starts at $50 then $100. No talk about the set details and a vague CrowdProduction term is on there. Meaning I guess polls and the like for what the set will consist of. And that's if they get enough money to fund the basic set. The numbers/percentages are kind of strange. They are offering cels. Which I didn't know Animeigo had. I guess they are from their personal collections. I wish they would say for example - We have a standard set. Then we have a premium set. The premium set will have the following based on funds: steelcase with interior artwork, soundtrack (selected songs voted by premium funders), full color booket, poster/pencil case/extra. Right now this is all too vague. I wish they weren't testing this with BGC. Things have the potential of becoming too chaotic with people voting on extras. And there will be the chance of the people in charge always saying we didn't get enough money or something like that for whatever extra items that should be in a premium "Ultimate Edition" set. I still have my Priss figure next to my BGC DVDs in a Paul Champagne case that I found out about when I used to check MacrossWorld before joining up. At the least this "Ultimate Edition" needs to top my setup.
  19. Kotobukiya showed some major figures at NYCC. All of them look fantastic. Spider-Woman, Star Wars Mara, Chun Li, and more. I'm pretty sure they made Macross kits back in the day. I don't know why they haven't released a few modern figures of Misa, Minmay, or those cute Bridge girls yet.
  20. I guess I just don't like it when companies go to Kickstarter that much. I can't believe Animeigo can't finance something like BGC. And when I look at the tentative bonuses I don't see much. All this should be discussed in house before putting it up. Where are the steelcases, posters, booklets, soundtracks, something that would make this really the "Ultimate Edition" for fans. I was recently looking for old Macross and other anime pencil cases. What about something like that for BGC? The only thing I see now is copies of the set and names showing you funded it. And provided they get enough money they will try to make it a real set by including those music videos, extra language options, and some downloadable images. I don't remember the first price before it went down on the Macross DVD set. I think it was close to $500? I know I paid somewhere between $250 and $300. Afterwards the transfer used by other companies was like under $50 if not cheaper for the whole of Robotech or the Japanese versions of the shows. It was shockingly cheap. The BGC Blu-ray is $200+ right now. One of those expensive Japanese deals. So I guess $25 for day one is a good deal. But this will be released in stores one day. And know that I paid I think $18 for both volumes of Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers during Amazon's Christmas sale. Those are DVD only but well done sets with booklets and tons of extras. I heard the BGC Blu-ray was good. That's why I don't understand why Animeigo feels the need to do their own version. They could have simply used the Japanese transfer a long time ago. I'm just going to watch this for now. See what happens. I still think the price on Macross was way too much. Gatchaman is coming out in a few weeks and Rightstuf has that for $89. That looks like a nice set. I hope they will put more stuff in like my ideas up top and this is just a "draft" like it says.
  21. I would consider getting Sera's mech. I always thought that snow attack scene was cool.
  22. I finally saw it. Short Review - Wrath of Khan fans need not see this “movie.” Long Review - What a mess. For some strange reason Into Darkness is rated a bit higher on IMDB than Wrath of Khan too. I knew I wasn’t going to like this movie because I’m a fan of Wrath of Khan. I just didn’t know how much they were going to rip off or attempt to ruin by adding their “twist.” I thought they created the alternate timeline to tell new stories. Lying to sell your movie is never a good thing either. In fact, I think the water scene shown in the trailers and in the opening was just a red herring too. Whatever you want to call this sequel, alternate universe, re-imagining, retelling, remake. All this shows is a lack of respect and understanding of one of the best sci-fi movies ever and easily the best Star Trek movie. I don’t get how a person who is even the slightest bit of a Wrath of Khan fan can like this new version. Perhaps you have to be in the mind set for it. Kind of like how I gave the first Mission: Impossible movie a pass and thought it was good at the time even though I knew something was wrong with it because they made Phelps a traitor. Now I have no interest in watching the movie ever again after catching some of the original Mission: Impossible shows on late night TV. Let’s start with the alternate universe Khan. He doesn’t have any memorable lines like in Wrath of Khan. Lines like “where’s the override” and “time is a luxury you don’t have.” Both of which I still use to this day. The lines about chasing Kirk around the moons of Nibia. Even something as simple as how Khan says “Aft torpedoes fire!” And of course his final lines. All of this is classic stuff. Even Quentin Tarantino put that Klingon proverb bit at the beginning of Kill Bill. Also, gone is Khan’s arrogant superiority. Even when things were bad he had it. That was part of his character. Benicio del Toro was right to get out of this remake. And I guess once he bailed the casting just got anyone and sold it as a modern day terrorism story. Even though the change of timeline from the first movie did not effect Khan’s background. So he should look the same as the first movie changed stuff beginning around the birth of Kirk not the late 1990s which I believe was when Khan left Earth. Khan is nothing but a generic terrorist now. Which misses the point of his character entirely. He wasn’t a bad guy. All you have to do is watch the TV episode to understand that. How Kirk and others had admiration for Khan for what he was attempting to do. Although he went about trying to unify Earth by force. This movie is a retread of the first movie once again with the whole revenge villain. It’s not Benedict Cumberbatch’s fault that his Khan isn’t that good. The brig scene felt the closest to the real Khan. But what made Khan cool originally probably had a lot to do with Ricardo Montalban. He was just one of those actors that could create a compelling character. Also I guess Starfleet doesn’t have anyone interested in the slightest bit of history in this new version. As no one recognizes Khan and reboot Spock doesn’t even do any research on him but calls the original Spock to ask. And Spock is an action character now. Not that action is a bad thing. But he’s almost a superhero in this movie. Khan and Spock might as well be prequel Jedi at this point. I’m sure reboot Spock asks the original Spock how he defeated Khan. Of course the answer that we never hear is “by out thinking him.” Because a smart strategy ending is better but not as entertaining for a modern audience as a fist fight on a moving vehicle. It’s shocking that Abrams was even considered for Star Wars after this. Perhaps a prequel style Star Wars. But not an original trilogy style Star Wars. Maybe all the fanboy homage scenes in his movies did it. Into Darkness even has an Indiana Jones homage in the opening. Abrams, a few of the actors, and even the writers know this movie sucks. I’ve seen a few recent stories with them defending the movie. Abrams even blamed it on the tie in videogame. Like people who actually played the game (not me) said the game sucks so I’m not going to see the movie. Well just about every tie in game sucks. The Matrix had one of the worst ones and people weren’t using that as an excuse. I get why these two new Star Trek movies are successful too and why some people (I think more modern audiences than classic Star Trek fans) like them more than the old ones. They look newer and are flashy, have action every 10 minutes or so, and every character gets an action moment. They have good sound effects and a basic storyline that’s not as dull as the Next Generation movies. I remember trying to get a model to see a Next Generation movie with me once and she said they were too dull and the characters didn’t show their feelings or something to that nature. Well in these new movies people are shouting, crying, and having talks about their relationships. But they still lack real substance. It’s like that scene in the first stupid Fast and Furious movie with the Ferrari F355 versus I believe some suped up Japanese sportscar that had been lowered with bigger flashy tires, spoilers, and neon lights. Of course the Ferrari is better. But I’ve actually come across people who prefer the suped up Japanese sportscar. Kirk is cool in these reboots because he’s called Kirk. Or has some good action moments. Not because he’s really Kirk. Because I don’t feel like I’m watching the real Captain Kirk here. There was no characterization or missions between the first movie and this one so we only care (if we do) because of who we are told they are, not what they’ve been through. We never see Kirk breaking all the rules. We’re just told that. And Kirk never really broke all the rules in the original series anyway. This is an exaggeration. In fact, everything is exaggerated to the point of parody at times. There is a lot of stupid stuff in this movie. The pointless and unneeded bikini scene. Yes, I’m a guy but the actress is topless in a movie I saw that I can’t remember right now. Her in a bikini is a tease. The Enterprise interior design is filled with all these walkways over massive pits. Predictable stuff with a character’s blood. Volcano’s that can destroy life on an entire planet and characters that actually need to be in said volcano. Unprotected secret ship factories and Earth is unprotected even with a coming war. It’s all an example of put the pieces together no matter how crazy and stupid it comes off. This isn’t a hate piece like the stuff on the Net that’s popular these days. But a more Star Trek should be better than this piece. It should be better than those Next Generation movies too which I don’t like either. Some might say I’m making comparisons. But that’s what remakes / reboots open themselves up to. Stuff like the crap Halloween and Charade remakes ask for it. Into Darkness even does something I’ve never seen before in a remake. It asks you to see the original movie and TV show because of that scene when remake Spock asks the original Spock “who is Khan?” I do like the cinematography in these movies. Probably far more than most as I always hear complaints about the lens flare and stuff. But it looks cool and futuristic. That shot of the Enterprise leaving after saving Spock is beautiful. The best thing I liked in the movie was the sound effect when the big ship is able to fire on the Enterprise during warp speed. That was cool and I hit rewind a bunch of times on that. There are a few good genuine moments with the main actors too. It’s not their fault the overall movie sucks. It’s the fault of the director, writers, and producers that decided to put their “spin” on the best Star Trek movie.
  23. I don't know guys. This feels like bs to me. I've wanted to get the Japanese Blu-ray for a while as it's been out for years. I've wondered why a US release hasn't come out yet. Now they are floating this Kickstarter idea for BGC instead of a straight release because of the risks. Animeigo doesn't even release anime anymore it seems. Plus, the "basic" goal is full of stuff most probably don't want - English voices and DVD copies. Plus the levels after that aren't very interesting either or full of stuff that should be in the set naturally. The original DVDs had the music videos, which I don't watch, but they were there. That's at the $110,000 level. Maybe I'm still a bit bitter after paying a high price for that Animeigo Macross set that was dirt cheap a few years later.
  24. Are these from more than a few years ago? I started looking for Mospeada cels fairly recently and I haven't seen any of these up for auction before. Some good ones are in this group.
