  1. Really lagging behind in Yamato release news. Is the VT-1 Super Ostrich already reissued yet? Last I heard, the Anniversary DYRL VF-1S Roy and Hikaru were the latest releases, after the VF-1D with the option parts. I've been waiting for a reissued VT-1 with non-exploding hinges for a while now.
  2. I kind of feel guilty for not being as excited about this as I am about MGSR. Raiden's ninja thing offered something different to the franchise, and it seems kind of cool. Personally, I've always found the MSG stealth system a little too complex for my taste. Had a pretty hard time sneaking up on enemies and knocking them out...or maybe I just suck at these games. I know you can always snipe them or use the stun bullets, but I was trying to get a trophy.
  3. I'm a man of simple taste. Gimme a 1/60 VF-2SS and a reissued VT-1 Super Ostrich with non-exploding shoulwer hinges, and I'm a happy camper.
  4. I only saw him onscreen in Green Mile, and that was some really good acting. I'm embarrassed that I didn't even know his name until today. R.I.P., Micheal.
  5. I read that certain Japanese people were offended by that poster. Not sure if they mean the general public or politicians. Then again, I read that at sankakucomplex, the land where the weaboos roam.
  6. Started on Bleach season 3. Not bad, but not great. IMO, the first season was still the best. Also watching Baka Test season 2, and loving every moment of it. For some strange reason, Chrome Shelled Regios doesn't seem so bad after watching it a second time. If all these seem to be somewhat old anime, it's because I've only got time to watch them on cable TV.
  7. Good point. I guess I'll just leave it in a display case for a couple of weeks and hope it dries, and the stickiness goes away. Leaving it in an air-conditioned room might help with the drying process.
  8. Dang, I guess I got a lemon...well, not really a lemon, but I'll have to be super careful during handling and get a display case for it. Would a coat of Future Floor Polish or clear gloss spray help?
  9. Yeah, I think there are certain figmas that were painted, like the white trims on the coats of the BRS figs. As for airing it out, I'm VERY worried about having dust settle on the surface, and having a hard time washing it off. Would it be enough to just get it out of the box but inside an inclosed display case? And I've been wishing for a Motoko Kusanagi figma for years, my friend. Either it happens or it doesn't.
  10. Crap. The store refused to replace it for me. Said it was the same with the whole batch, and that it was some kind of oil. I call BS on that. It wasn't oil, but the plastic itself. I tried washing it, but it was the same. Would it be a good idea to spray a thin coat of gloss on it?
  11. You mean they actually spray a clear coat over the plastic, or were you joking? Damn thing's freaking me out. It's not like gluey residue or anything, but it feels sort of "tacky" to the touch. Dust will certainly stick to the surface if I display it without a clear case, and I've no idea if I'll ever be able to get the dust off. Maybe I should try and get it replaced, after all. BTW, the sword is also not perfectly straight, although it seems to be part and parcel of the recent decline in QC of Figma's these days. I've heard quite a few complaints on their Ika Musume fig.
  12. Urgent question here, guys. I just brought the Figma 140 BRS TV Animation version home, and found that flexible plastic parts (the hood and back of her coat) was kind of sticky. The other figmas I've bought in the past were never sticky. Has anyone got the figure also, and is it the same with yours? I won't bother getting a replacement if they're all the same.
  13. Two hours into Sleeping Dogs, and I'm already addicted to it. While it's true that the game derives a lot of its gameplay and themes from other sandbox games (GTA IV in particular), it also brings in a unique flavor of its own. Sleeping Dogs is basically what you might expect if Rock Star made a GTA sequel based in Hong Kong. I applaud the game for creating a very authentic feel of HK. The Cantonese is very accurate and natural, and the atmosphere is realistic. I would have been nice is the VA (Will Yun Lee) for Wei Shen to at least attempt to speak a few words of Cantonese. As it is, he's the only one in the game except his British higher-up who only speaks English. Game play-wise, the fighting system is probably the best I've ever used in a sandbox game. The counter-attack system blends in smoothly with normal attacks, and as a whole handles much better than Yakuza's rather artificial feel, or GTA's clunky melee fighting. The AI is top-notch; the enemies tend to gang-up on you, so counter-attacking is essential. The camera angle is wonky sometimes, but it's infrequent enough so as to be bearable. The difficulty is a noticeably higher than Yakuza, so strategy is a must. Rushing in and mashing buttons will just get you KO'ed in drug bust missions. I love the fact that they used food and drinks as not only a way to replenish HP, but also to offer temporary power-ups and defense. The leveling system is also cool, utilizing achievements for three different facets to unlock abilities, namely Cop, Triad and Face. To be honest, it feels a little like the system in Deus Ex - Human Revolution. Something unique to the game itself is the use of finding health shrines in order to extend your max hp. Still too early to comment on the plot, but it's building up to be a typical HK cop drama with intrigue, gang politics and brewing betrayal among the cops themselves. Reminds me a lot of the Infernal Affairs trilogy (the original, grittier, film that spawned The Departed.)
  14. They haven't even said anything about a deluxe Megatron, so a voyager Optimus might take more than a while. That said, I'd love to see a voyager class Optimus, although I still prefer the more streamlined WFC version.
  15. One and the same, except the device looks WAY cheap in the movie. The one in the video game was a simpler device with wires piercing the chest, whereas the movie version has fake-looking spider legs.
  16. Thanks for the heads-up, Mike! Sleeping Dogs it is, then.
  17. They are indeed. In any case, even if I could get my hands on one of these, I wouldn't want to. My display room doubles as my home office; I'd be too damn distracted with all these plastic slurms (Slurm? Damn you, word processor! Actual unedited word rhymes with gut) flashing their business at me to concentrate on anything. If there is one Imari fig I'd actually want to get, it's the one with the demon coming out of the mirror. An old product from a few years ago.
  18. I just don't like getting ceonsored by the word processor every time, though it seems okay with "vibrator". Then again, spoilering it seems even worse. BTW, I don't even own dolls like these. Where I'm at, figures like these would never get past customs, conservative Asian country and all that. Well, they used to get past easily before anime really kicked off in this country. But then this idiot reporter wrote a very misinformed article stating that anime was basically animated porn. That asshat probably just googled the word and found a bunch of porn. This got the local gov all blushy and crap, and "clamping down" on anime stuff. Said idiot reporter later apologized for his mistake, but the government's been "vigilant" about anime-related stuff ever since. Rant complete.
  19. You mean a A review I read says it comes (heheh, p0rn pun!) in silver, gold and black. That's the only accessory included, AFAIK.
  20. 66 years old on HGH. Presumably safer than steroids, and it'll keep him fit and strong for probably as long as he keeps using it.
  21. Is FOC as short as WFC? And how's the overall replay value, as in, is there anything worth going back for after I finish the campaign mode--BESIDES online stuff? Also, is Escalation still online, or can I play it offline in FOC? I'm still deciding between this and Sleeping Dogs, which has around 20-25 hours of gameplay and a sizable number of side-quests. As much as I'd like to buy both, I have to save up some cash in anticipation of that HT 1/6 scale Tumbler that's recently been released.
  22. The thing I hate the most about HT's Batman figures are the lack of leg articulation caused by the rubber suits, not to mention the potential wear and tear of the suits themselves. Hopefully, this new DX12 suit with the cloth undercoat will add some articulation to the fig. As for the super-alloy Batman, money is the only thing stopping me from buying the matte black version. That said, his grapplegun and utility belt look lame, and fake. And I don't mean that they look cartoonish...they actually look fake, like something made by an unskilled customizer.

    amiami ?

That definitely a manufacturing defect. And I thought the QC for Valks would have improved after Yamato switched factories. Maybe these were old stock left over from the old production lines? They don't? Damn, good thing the last few figs I bought from them were fine.

    amiami ?

Not sure about Amiami, but when I got a busted-up SV-51 Nora from HLJ the last time, they asked for pictures of the damaged part(s) to be emailed to them. Once it's been determined to be a manufacturing defect, they asked for the figure to be sent back, so that the factory can repair it. Similar process for a damaged VF-1D, except they actually sent me replacement parts--took them a long while to get it shipped, though. Maybe your item was damaged during shipping? They usually don't cover that kind of damage, AFAIK--only manufacturing defects. Just my two cents worth.
  25. I agree. The matte finishing is a major improvement. Somehow, the shiny metal body just doesn't look right.
