  1. Technique Impossible...the name says it all, I guess. For me, it's the Border Break Zebra 22. Still taking notes and planning how to go about painting up the weapons, filling in the seam lines, and masking the curved parts, a year after the purchase. Not exactly the simple snap-fit kit I imagined it was.
  2. Raiden looks good enough to buy, but as with any PlayArts Kai fig, I'm very worried about how well he'll be able to stand on his own two feet, literally. And the whole "high-heels" looking thing he's got going on doesn't look too stable.
  3. Thanks for the verification, Typhoon. The guy either mistook the VF-1D with option parts for the VT-1 Super Ostrich, or that joker was just trying to punk me. I thought something was fishy when even Yamato's site made no mention of it.
  4. I just want to confirm something. Has the VT-1 been re-released already?! Some guy from another forum told me that a VT-1 reissue with optional parts has been released last month and sold out. I haven't even gotten a hint of the news anywhere. Is this true?!
  5. I used to get my anime DVD's at a local anime specialist store, until it went out of business recently. Now I have to watch them online, or see what Animax brings in on cable TV.
  6. Should have set the movie in Afghanistan; they're so used to explosions that you could set off a half-ton of C4 five feet away, and you couldn't get the camels to flinch.
  7. LOL! If even I can build a Gundam, so can you. It's basically snap the parts together, panel line, and spray an ungodly amount of matte clear on it, and you're done. Won't take more than a day or two, unless you're really fastidious.
  8. I'm up for a tachikoma or two. Not sure if I can afford to spare the cash, though, given it's December release. We'll see.
  9. After reading all the reviews on this movie, I guess I won't be adding it to my BD list. At this rate, I'm not even sure if I want to watch it when it comes out on HBO.
  10. Personally, I think bike looks like the designer's trying too hard to make it look cool and high-tech. Too much unnecessary detailing and panel lines, yet the overall form is that of a very generic current day racing bike. I know bikes haven't evolved much aesthetically through the decades, but this "robo-bike" has absolutely nothing to distinguish itself from all the others.
  11. From what I've seen of the show (damn near half the first season, before I slapped myself in the face and washed it off by watching a few 80's action flicks), it's more or less K-ON! starring ponies instead of Japanese anime girls--light comedy with hints of moe.
  12. Well, a coat of FFP would take care of any potential chipping. Since I already pre-ordered the Takara version months ago, I'll have to do just that when I I get my hands on it.
  13. Just started on RE 6. Gameplay-wise, I prefer the controls and inventory system of RE5. It's not horrible, but it just feels rather unintuitive, and you can't even customize the direction buttons for specific weapons ans items. What I do like is that your partner AI is such more self-sufficient and doesn't keep calling for help. The ability to move while aiming doesn't really help much, since you move very slowly. The split stories concept is pretty nice, allowing you to use different characters and experience different viewpoints throughout the game as the story unfolds.
  14. @ VT102: I think WM Cheng meant you shouldn't use anything lacquer or enamel-based over acrylics, as the solvents of either will eat right through the acrylic paint. But painting acrylics over lacquer or enamels is perfectly okay. According to Tamiya's webpage, you can layer acrylic over enamel over lacquer, but never the other way around. Lacquer is the "hottest" and should always be the first coat of paint. After that is enamel, with acrylics being the most inert. In other words: Bottom - Lacquer Middle - Enamel Top - Acrylic BTW, I just tried hand-brushing some FFP over someTamiya acrylic paint, without first priming the surface, and left it for a day or two. Worked like a charm. Absolutely scratch-proof.
  15. Hope I'm not treading into anything political here, but it might have something to do with a certain recent dispute concerning several islands.
  16. Never imagined I'd find myself giving any advice on airbrushing. Anyways, during my research on primers (if you can call random Googling "research"), I read that if you're going to spray primer from an AB, be sure to dilute it with lacquer thinner. Acrylic thinner won't work. Same thing when you're cleaning the AB. This is just a theory, but I'm guessing if the final clear coat were strong enough (FFP) it might be enough to hold the acrylic in place. I'm about to experiment on a piece of plastic, simply spraying a coat of acrylic to the surface, wait till it cures, and then hand-brush a coat of FFP and see if it holds the acrylic in place well enough.
  17. No Ratbat for me, if that's the case. Anything before Beast Wars, I know nothing about beyond the G1 cartoon and the animated movie. I'm not buying Soundblaster just for Ratbat.
  18. If they paired Frenzy with Rumbler, and Ratbat with Ravage, I've have saved myself 90 USD. I have no interest in Buzzsaw, but I want Frenzy. I wonder who Ratbat will be paired with?
  19. Mechtech, when you said flat color paint, did you mean Krylon Fusion or just any old spray paint?
  20. Thanks for the heads up, Mechtech! Where I'm at, there's no chance of the paint being too cold (smoldering tropical country), so I guess there's no need for warming the can.
  21. Many thanks, Jefuemon! How much is it? I can't spend too much, seeing as I've got quite a few pre-ordered Hot Toys figs and several other stuff that's coming out these few months.
  22. The alt mode looks like one of those concept UCAV drones the US military is testing. Yeah, I agree they should have just done a little partsforming with the chest plate, than to make this extra bot.
  23. I've heard of Krylon being sold locally, but it's not nearly as popular as other cheaper brands like Pylox or Anchor. To make matters worse, most hardware shops here just don't like to stock primer. I'll try my luck at a few stores and see if I can find a can or two of Krylon primer.
