  1. Hoping to get RE 6 by this weekend. Pretty good reviews from IGN--massive action, four divergent character paths to follow. Better partner AI this time around, but still far from perfect. That complaint about the need to repeat certain stages and fights bothered me, though.
  2. Okay, got it. Now, to find something to paint!
  3. Just thought I'd post a pic of my new(ish) acquisition here. I'm planning to get a glass or acrylic case to protect it soon, though. BTW, that 3-drawer chest used to be my makeshift modeling desk. And sorry about the low-rez pic; taken using my smartphone.
  4. Damn, these MLP shows are dangerous. Several months ago when I couldn't sleep, I decided to watch some random stuff on youtube. Stumbled on some MLP eps, and before I knew it, I was halfway through the first season.
  5. That damn toy safety rule thing is giving my hobby store cold feet about bringing in Not-Black Arachnia. Hell, they didn't even bring in the PE-DX Not-Arcee's. I wonder if there's chance I might score one from HLJ?
  6. Yup. In MF, Klan said something about Zentran equipment being able to function perfectly even without maintenance for centuries.
  7. Thanks for all the tips, man! One more thing: how do you transfer the paint onto the airbrush's cup without spilling it? I've been using water and food coloring so far, so I can just pour it out of a plastic bottle. But with such a tiny amount of paint, I can't possibly use a bottle. The paint is thicker, too. Or do you just mix it in the cup itself? I've heard this being done with bottom mounted cups, but I'm not sure if you can do that with gravity-feed cups.
  8. Heretic! Hath thou no shame?! Wait, are you seriously telling me, you only spray one coat of paint without clear coating? Please tell me you at least prime them before you give me a heart attack. Dare I ask if you bother to thin your paints? Unfortunately for me, Tamiya acrylic paint is all I can find in my neck of the woods, and most every bit of advice I've scrounged from Google says to thin it 1:1 and spray three thin coats. The Spray Work manual, though, recommends spraying straight from the bottle without dilution. Wish I could find some Mr. Color paints here. Most if not all the model kit manuals use Gunze paints in their color guides (except Tamiya model kits, I guess), and it's pretty hard trying to match the colors with Tamiya paints.
  9. In this case, I'll have to leave the plastic wrapping on the wheels for a little longer while I decide whether to prop up the bottom of the Tumbler or cut out small pieces of cardboard and place them between the wheels.
  10. I can't tell. Neither the catalog nor the online site say anything about the finish, other than that it's birch veneer. Personally, I've never coated it with anything, myself.
  11. Man, thanks for the warning, Kicker! I'm currently placing the Tumbler on top of my MALM three-drawer chest. Not sure if the surface has a finish on it or not, but it says birch veneer. Is that bad? It's still got the plastic wrapping on the wheels, though. I might have to get something to hold up the bottom of the car, just in case. I just hope the bottom plate of the Tumbler is strong enough. LOL! It HAS to be read in Bale's patented Bat-growl!
  12. Thanks for the info, Jefuemon! I just found out that the basic airbrush is technically "pseudo" double-action, as you can adjust the amount of paint using a slide on top of the airbrush, something they call a "needle stopper," except that the airflow is constant. The description on the box says it can handle cammo effects and fine lines, so I guess it'll suffice until my skills have advanced enough. But seeing as I don't usually build "real-life" tanks and jets, the basic airbrush is probably all I'll ever need. BTW, how do you deal with the dry-tip problem on the airbrush, and keeping the paint in the cup from drying while you wait to apply the second coat? I heard it's a problem with acrylics, which is the only kind of paint I can get my hands on.
  13. Man, the one time I didn't double-check my post.... I wish you didn't me of that. The left foot on mine actually snapped off after I tried to adjust it a little. Now it's held together by blu-tack.
  14. I'd have gotten these instead of the much larger and more expensive HT versions, but then these would never fit into my Tumbler. The Nolan TDKR characters look nice, although Bane looks a little too ripped. I don't remember him being that "veiny" in the movie.
  15. Nice! I ran out of food coloring just as I was about to test it again today, so I'll only be able to find out later if the paint's leaking, after I get some more. I'm really kind of worried about it right now. Maybe I'll just try filling the cup with water and aim the nozzle on newspaper, and see if any water sprays onto the newspaper. Okay, I just tested with some water, and it works just fine, thankfully. No water sprayed out until I squeezed the trigger. As for airbrushes, I'm still using the one that came with the compressor. I plan on eventually upgrading to the metal HG trigger-type airbrush. I heard that the traditional "pen-type" airbrushes are hard on the fingers, and controlling the amount of paint is difficult, especially for those new to airbrushing. Is this true? In any case, I'm not sure if I can use double-action airbrushes on the basic compressor, seeing as it can't be used with stop-valves. Can it? BTW, is it possible to do post or pre shading using a single-action airbrush?
  16. If you ask me, we're probably paying more for the Lamborghini license and the fact that it's a MP toy than the actual toy itself. That said, it's fine for what it is, given its size and the fact that its transformation mimics the G1 toy . I wish they'd try a little harder to hide the roof in alt mode, though.
  17. I'm just looking forward to completing my seeker trio. Already got MP-11, and looking forward to Skywarp and Thundercracker 2.0. Would have gotten Hasbro's TC and just removed the stupid decals/markings, but the local TRU sucks, which means my only option is a Takara version from a hobby store. As for a potential Ultra Magnus, meh. Was never much of a fan of his even back in G1. But depending on how he looks and how much money I've got at the time of release or pre-order, I might just buy one. In the meantime, Sideswipe and Soundwave will be putting a smile on my face for the rest of the year.
  18. That's good news. Finally tired of Ikki Tousen, and I was looking for some new anime to watch.
  19. Well the chemistry part kinda flew over my head, but I got the gist of it. UV shouldn't be an issue, as I keep my display room darkened with heavy curtains. The only thing that might be an issue are the desiccants in the air from the constant air-conditioning. So glad I didn't try to force them.
  20. No worries, shdw! I guess I'll just stick to Holt's rubber lubricant. Keeping the Tumbler in an air-conditioned environment, I wanted something to fight against the dryness. I thought of just leaving the plastic sheets on the tires, but I heard that it might fuse with the rubber tires after a few years. I guess the only way now is to apply some lubricant on it every few months.
  21. Glad to know it's actually normal! It wasn't apparent when I sprayed the food coloring onto the cardboard (red on brown cardboard--stupid choice), but when I aimed the nozzle at the back of my palm without pulling the trigger, I felt a very thin vapor mist.
  22. That's an awesome build! Looks familiar, but I can't place which SF movie this one's from. Is it Event Horizon?
  23. Glad to know I'm not the only one who didn't like Fate Stay/Night. I passed on Zero because of it, and now I think I might have to give Zero a second chance.
  24. Thanks for the replies. Is there any way I can fix this myself, i.e. disassemble the airbrush and check if something's loose? The Tamiya manual said to push in the needle because if this happens, there is a gap between the needle and nozzle. I did that, but it didn't solve the problem. UPDATE: Apparently the basic airbrush that came with the compressor might not even have a valve, although I'm just guessing here. In the manual, it says that you have to remove the stop-valves of aibrushes if you want to use it with this compressor. It specifically says, "If brush airflow stops, compressor breaks." Am I right in assuming the airbrush included with it doesn't have a valve, and it's normal that the airflow continues even when the trigger isn't pulled?
  25. I see. I guess it was to protect them during shipping. Question about the windshield wipers. Are they articulated? They were pretty tight when I tried to move them, and I didn't dare to use any force on them. Was hoping to display them upward, like in the movies. Thanks for the info, shdwfx2000. So I just rub some onto the tires, like lotion?
