  1. To be fair, it's a good design, marred by horrible QC.
  2. What in the name of John Connor.... Yeah, statues do have the advantage of keeping their pose without the risk of damage...although it's just the one pose. You've got a point, but I just like Katie as Rachel for no other reason than the fact that I just do. As for the arrow thing, she hasn't found out Bruce was Batman yet when she gave it to him. With Katie, I can believe she's the girl Bruce would fall for and hold a candle for her even after her rejection of him. The new Rachel has a rather platonic feel about her, and doesn't have much chemistry with either Bruce or Harvey. I'll agree that the new Rachel makes for a more convincing D.A., but IMO she pretty much fails as a love interest. I don't have a problem with her character, just her (lack of) acting prowess. It was so glaringly bad in ROTF. There are scenes where the camera doesn't focus on her but she's captured on screen, and she just goes blank and looks totally disinterested in what's going on. It's like she's thinking, "Wrap it up already, I've got a spa appointment at six." LOL! Quoted for truth.
  3. That look on his face is priceless!
  4. Yup, crisis averted. We can now continue with our proud tradition of cheap plastic in our toys and moronic humor in our TF movies.
  5. I noticed that the Catwoman prototype's neck looked "patched up." Anything else I should know about it? I've also pre ordered Catwoman, as well as Bane. As for the Gordon figure...WTF? My bad. I kept thinking of some of the comic images of Batman with just the bat symbol without the yellow. I watched Batman Year One recently, and recall something similar now that you mentioned it. The question is, what happens to the figure after he's been placed inside the car for a long time? The rubber suit might crease or even stretch. Well, I didn't like Megan Fox with her pornstarish looks and subpar acting either, but it didn't stop millions of others from crying foul when they pulled her character from DOTM. Seriously, I think Katie Holmes played the role well enough, and the ending works for me. Maybe she no longer sees the Bruce Wayne she knew and loved as a kid in the man who returned to Gotham so many years later--he's been replaced by a creature of anger and vengeance called the Batman. It's bittersweet, but it works IMO. Admittedly, I would have liked to see Rachel and Bruce together in the end. My favorite scene in the movie. Period.
  6. Agreed. Ledger totally stole the show. Dent was almost a non-entity in the movie, being vastly overshadowed by Ledger's Joker. The fact that I didn't really like the new Rachel doesn't help in empathizing with Harvey's loss. Should have gotten Katie back for the role. The first time I watched the movie at the cinema, I couldn't keep my eyes off her whenever she appeared on screen. And I was just ten-years old back then! I just googled some old pics of the Batman Begins fig HT made, as well as DX2 and DX12. I gotta say, while it's steadily gotten better, none of them are anywhere near perfect. Although with the price they're asking for them, they damn well ought to be perfect. Damn, I can't wait for the DVD to come out! I heard her performance was excellent in TDKR.
  7. There must be something wrong with my taste in movies, as I tend to "go against the grain" when it comes to Nolan's Batman movies. I've watched Batman Begins countless times, and still have the DVD in my player. I like TDK too, but not quite as much as Batman Begins. The first movie IMO has a more focused story (my personal opinion), better action, not to mention more screen-time involving the Tumbler. I also prefer Katie Holmes as Rachel a lot more than her replacement in TDK. Can't comment on TDKR yet, as I've yet to watch it. Waiting impatiently for the DVD/Bluray to come out this December. And yeah, Batman Returns is too campy for my tastes as well. The first Burton movie was perfect. Wow, I can't believe I missed all these little details on the HT fig. You guys sure are Batman connoisseurs.
  8. I've stopped buying Playarts figs due to their decreasing QC. Their overuse of rubber on limbs only encourages bent arms and deformed parts. Alter stuff is rather pricy, but I guess with quality comes cost. Thanks, and I hope your DX11 turns out to be free of QC problems too. Yeah, I also find Burton's movie more rewatchable than Nolan's Batman movies, probably due to its more fantastical atmosphere. As for the suit, I'm of the opinion that if you're going for realism, the yellow emblem has to go. It defeats the purpose of a completely black suit, with a bright yellow symbol on your chest. Then again, the shiny bronze belt kind of does that already. In any case, I recall that the original Batman simply had a black emblem on his suit, much like the Nolan version. The bright yellow badge was Burton's original idea. Yeah, they could have worked a bright-colored symbol if they wanted to. Maybe make it light up in flames on his chest (fire contained in a glass emblem?), for theatrical purposes to scare his enemies or something. Well, they could make it work by making the technology closer to what we have, instead of super advanced. Yeah, it's surprising just how careless they can get, especially when producing such high-end figures and asking for for much money for them. Can the Keaton Batman even sit in the Batmobile? The full-rubber suit looks kinda rigid and prone to creasing if you ask me.
  9. Yeah, it does look pretty different from the actual Batman. I suppose that's what happens with hand-sculpted molds. They're almost never perfect. Not a fan of the grey suit either. Wow, that's pretty sh!tty QC, especially for a DX figure. I just wonder what's up with the downward spiral of QC in so many companies these days.
  10. The Evil Mouse has been buying companies left and right recently (Marvel and then Lucas Films), so it's not so far off for them to set their sights on Hasbro. Apparently, there have been positive predictions among TF fans about the outcome of this potential buy. I wonder if Disney can make Micheal Bay stop injecting his idiot humor into the TF movies.
  11. Just a rumor, though. Still kinda scary. Never knew Disney Label's Optimouse was just a foreshadow of this. What's putaria, BTW?
  12. Honestly, they could have solved the elbow pad problem by simply making it a separate piece. I didn't quite notice the eyes, though. As for the emblem, yeah, it's ridiculous that that something molded on could be asymmetrical. Speaking of which, it looks to me that the DX02 also has the emblem problem. The seam-line on the "pecs" and the emblem don't perfectly align either. If by comic-inspired, you mean gray and dark blue tights, I doubt they'll be returning to that look any time soon. Burton's batsuit design started the more realistic look and was hugely popular, as is Nolan's super-realistic look; IMO, movie producers won't be willing to try anything different. That is, unless the script and setting are excellent and the story gives a good explanation why Batman would opt for a purely aesthetic costume instead of light-weight armor. I mean, he IS one man against many armed criminals who wouldn't think twice to gun him down. The powered suit design from Batman Beyond might be a nice idea, though. As for DX12's glued rubber pieces on fabric, it's actually to prevent the rubber from making contact with the body underneath. The previous Batman figure's full-rubber suit reacted chemically with the figure's plastic(?), and resulted in the infamous "oily ooze." Same thing happened with The Comedian's (of The Watchmen) rubber vest.
  13. Wow, TRU really sucks. In my neck of the woods, TRU doesn't even bring in Hasbro MP's. Good thing there's no shortage of hobby stores here. It's a fool's errand to try and buy TF's from the local departmental stores.
  14. You're lucky to have not bought him. He's riddled with QC problems and you'll find yourself replacing one toy after another--a real hassle if you bought him online. The store owner at my hobby store was nice enough to let me open and check several of the Lambors he had in stock, and almost all had QC issues. I picked the best out of the batch, but even that one had a need for minor touch-ups. At least it didn't have a paint chip in his headlight like the last one. Scalpers?
  15. Amiami seems to be really strict about canceling orders. I've stopped buying from them, as their return policy is totally one-sided...in fact, they don't even HAVE a return policy, as anything that leaves the warehouse can't be refunded or even replaced, even if it's a manufacturing defect! Damn, that's horrible. Maybe I shouldn't have asked; the first thing I'll be staring at now when I get DX12 will be the emblem... How on earth could HT eff up such simple thing as the batman emblem? The damn thing's molded on, isn't it? Yeah, the elbow pads look ridiculous when you bend the arms. Gluing them doesn't seem to be an option as there's no telling how the glue or CA will react to the rubber. Also you might risk causing creases on the faux leather/rubber if you bend it too much. This is a ridiculous design flaw for a DX FIG!
  16. I'd have to forfeit my deposit of 200 local dollars (approx. 60+ USD) if I cancel my pre-order. As for the restricted hips, I guess I'll have to put him on the Bat-pod instead of the Tumbler, or just have him standing on his base. Better that way, actually, as you can't even see Batman inside the car anyways. BTW, when you said it had a skewed emblem, did you mean it was off-center or just not 100% accurate to the shape of the one on the actual suit?
  17. Okay, that's not such a big problem, then. Honestly, I'm still undecided. As silly as it sounds, I only took an interest in the ZOE games after buying the Kotobukiya Jehuty kit. I'll watch a couple of youtube clips and see how I like the feel of the game.
  18. I'm glad the owner of my local hobby store had the foresight to forgo this early shipment and opt for the December shipment. The QC issues would have been weeded out by then, although some of the design issues might remain. Well, for me it's either DX12 or no Batman at all. At least, not without paying a premium on Evil Bay aftermarket.
  19. Could you elaborate a little more about those irritating parts? Is it like that damn "missile silo tunnel" mission in Ace Combat 5 that's so difficult to win that you actually dread playing the game? Took me two months and countless retries to finish the SOLG mission (that AC staple where you fly into a tunnel and shoot missiles inside the silos), and remains the only game save I'll never delete from my memory card, because I never want to go through it again. If it is, I'm gonna have to pass, as there's no way I'm wasting money on a game I'd be afraid of playing for fear of losing my sanity. Personally, I'm still wondering if I should skip this one and save the money for Hitman Absolution. Sounds like some decent replay value, especially the VS mode. Just a little concerned about the iritating bits mikeszekely mentioned. I hate getting stuck in a game and eventually give up. Feels like I've wasted my money on it. BTW, there's not much of a resale market for games where I'm at. There's always ebay, but going through all that trouble is probably not worth it. That parts about Marinari's undies is really tempting, though...
  20. 40 USD (probably more where I'm at) for 8 hours of combined gameplay on 2 PS2-era games; still kinda pricy. How's the replay value of these ZOE games? Not just extras and unlockables; is the game fun to play repeatedly? FOC only lasted at most 12 hours, but the gameplay is so addictive (transforming robots on a metal battlefield; nuff said) that I've probably been replaying it for over 60 hours, before starting on RE 6.
  21. Wow, that was quick. It usually takes my usual store about a week or so to bring new games in, or three days at least. Wait, are you serious?! And I thought that DOTM game was short, clocking in at five hours. Unless the re-playability is great, 4 hours for 2 games combined is total BS. No way I'm paying that kind of money for it. ZOE HD is off my to-buy list if that's the case.
  22. Thanks for the heads-up! Probably be a week or two before it reaches my neck of the woods, though.
  23. Please don't jinx it. With the kind of money those TF movies pulled in, it's actually a frightening possibility.
  24. I take it that's the Japanese version, right? I've been closely following the news on this game, and AFAIK the English version hasn't been released yet. BTW, when's the NA release date again?
  25. There are certain parts that are plastic, depending on the figure, but there's a lot of rubbery parts in any Playarts figure. A lot of the rubber is also in unsuitable places, too. FF XIII-2 Lightning's lower legs are composed entirely of rubber, and the one I got had a bent left leg. This wouldn't have happened if they had used plastic instead. I don't know that the designers were thinking, but using rubber to make the legs, especially if the figure doesn't have a fricking stand, is just idiotic. I also don't like the joint system they used for the shoulders and knees. They look very fake, and just take away the illusion of the figures lookng lifelike. Despite them releasing many of my favorite video game characters (Mr. 47, Raiden and Liquidus) I've decided to stay away from Playarts and take my chances with the possibility of HT making them someday, Playarts is definitely the perfect size, but not the right company.
